    Belarus, Gomel region, Village Porechye.
For a remote place, the village of Porechye is relatively large, currently home to about 550 people.
Historical records indicate that Porechye has been known since the
14th century. In 1396, it was mentioned in documents associated with Prince Golshansky. but Regardless OF the era, the construction of houses in villages follows a similar pattern.
A traditional peasant yard was divided into two parts: one side featured a clean yard, while the other contained a cattle yard with stables. The house itself was always oriented to face the street.
This arrangement meant that a peasant yard consisted of separate buildings either adjacent to one another or spaced out to some degree.
This was the first part of my story about how residents of remote Belarusian villages live. In the second part of my video, I want to show you even more of the village itself and introduce you to the people who live here full-time.
