He was the definition of talent and potential that didn’t work hard. In all honesty per his play style, he was far off from an NBA player. He was silly enough and lazy enough to take an entire year off from legitimate basketball to “work out” and thought he would just enter the draft and be a first round pick after a year of absence. He likely does need therapy. I’m happy he’s making some money for his story however but he still needs to hold himself accountable and let his story be a lesson to others not a laundry list of excuses.

I remember watching his doc while he was at the ABCD camp. One of the counselors said they went to the club and at like 2am they saw Lenny there. He was late for every practice and workout. He was the definition of talent and potential that didn’t work hard. In all honesty per his play style, he was far off from an NBA player. He was silly enough and lazy enough to take an entire year off from legitimate basketball to “work out” and thought he would just enter the draft and be a first round pick after a year of absence. He likely does need therapy. I’m happy he’s making some money for his story however but he still needs to hold himself accountable and let his story be a lesson to others not a laundry list of excuses.
Not to mention this was 2001-2002 he entered the draft. 6’6 power forward would never play in the league with KG, Duncan, Dirk etc. I knew the Lenny Cooke story was bananas when I first heard it.

I watched the Lenny Cooke doc. It was like watching Fruitvale Station.. it was just sad. He wasnt a bright kid, and the adults around him didnt know how to guide him.
