I think this story is symbolic- A civil servant is attracted to a powerful politician, who runs a local paper too. If you observe the plot carefully, you’d realise that the writer is probably commenting on the present scenario of the country. An unholy nexus of - bureaucrats, Netas and media.. despite his atrocious behavior, the girl is attracted to the neta.. civil service aspirants talk big things about society and morality but once they get into the system, everything goes to the winds- and their coming together gives them a total control of all the possible pillars of the civil society.
