Agreed, I learned this as well. But not so much luck getting ideas from it into my own playing. Any suggestions?

Sure, make sure you can play and sing the solo over a backing track first. Then try and take smaller lines and ideas and use them alongside what you normally do. It’s a bit a of a conscious effort at first but it will happen without thinking if you keep working on it!
