if you don't already know this was the only year i did online school, i've gone to a regular public school every year before this and i'm going back for the rest of high school :)
I tried to go back to regular school, but they wouldn't except my credits. Now, Im a bit scared, especially because Im overdue in most of my assignments and seem to lack the motivation i had when i first started the program; i was also ahead in my assignments. I'm really just stressed because my mom paid for my whole tuition and I feel like I disappointed her and myself. I
I still plan to go back to public school though four junior year (if I could get) but I'm scared that I might not get the work. Do you have any suggestions? Please
Last year I wanted to switch to online school because my mental health made going to school seem unbearable. I’ve never had trouble getting myself to do class work at home and actually usually enjoy it. This year I’m better mentally which is real great and I’m more extroverted than I used to be and really enjoy meeting new people, but I still think I would rather be doing online school. I often become distracted in class from friends and kids being annoying juggling desks (don’t ask) and always learn better when on my own. I really do love meeting new people and hanging out with friends so if I do switch to online school I would be getting involved in my community and camps and hanging out with friends as much as possible :)
I hope you realize that when you're Homeschooled, you have to actually motivate yourself AND actually pay really close attention. Or else you'll fail. Also you don't get to hangout with people all the time just because you're Homeschooled. You STILL do work all day.
yo I did online school this year too, turns out I was going thru stuff pretty much ALL YEAR and now I'm sooo behind and barely gonna finish ONE semester by summer. motivation is super tough with online and even though I knew that going into it I fully thought I was gonna be able to handle it :/ now I gotta do online for another year so I can catch up on everything I haven't done which is rough but what're you gonna do u know
I am currently doing online school and in my experience it's been better than regular school as well as my other options. I suffer from severe anxiety depression and ADHD (it makes me very impulsive). I got the opportunity to go to online school after getting expelled from my public school. In normal school I was anxious and I ended up getting in a fight on like the 5th week bc of that. After that I was given the choice between online school and an alternative school and I went with online. Since I started I've gotten more work done than I ever did in a school setting. I've been happier and been feeling like myself more now that I've started online school. It isnt helpful for some people but when your not stable enough to be in a regular school setting it can be a good thing.

i can relate SO much. i just finished 8th grade. i did online school for the second semester. it was the worst decision ever. and i did it all over a girl who tried to ruin my life and it makes me so mad that i let her get to me. i spent every waking moment worrying about school and i never had a chance to breathe. i finished school with very bad grades but it’s 8th grade so it won’t effect me much. i am just so ecstatic to go back to public school and not be lonely and make good grades.

Hi Maddy, i am currently enrolled in North Carolina Virtual Academy as a junior. If you're somebody who is experiencing or is prone to anxiety or depression online schooling *IS NOT* the option. The long work days you spend alone in your room with little to no communication outside your family can lead you to serious depression and lead to worsened social anxiety. I was never somebody who was bullied in public school however i never enjoyed putting myself out of my comfort zone, online schooling worsened this and even though i never had problems with social situation i found that i was experiencing social anxiety while in online schooling do to the lack of being put into social situations. It is extremely hard for me to do things such as apply for a job now because for the past 2 and a half years of high school i have been locked in my room for 8+ hours a day. I would only recommend online school if you are emotionally stable or your school environment is genuinely bad. I am looking forward to going back to public school this fall for my senior year.

And my whole neighbor is surrounded with kids that go to my school that I’m friends with. :)) but it’s not just my anxiety, I have stomach problems and always feel like throwing up so I’m always absent.

And my mom decided she was done with it and just told me everyday if either my dad, grandparents, or anyone who would ask if I've done school today, I would have to say yes. So It had went on for 6 years, and I had stayed with my Grandparents, and I had told my Grandmother that my mom has been lying to Her, and everyone else in our family about school, and she was devastated, and from then she has took over and other drama had started between my family with my mom Not being a mother, and other stuff like that, so then as I'm trying catch up I don't realize how hard it really it would be to even try, so months go by, I stay with my mom one night, and we get a phone call from my grandparents saying their house had caught fire, and burnt down the whole house, leaving nothing left.. and my grandmother was really messed up from the fire, that she had to stay in the (Burn unit) for several days, when she was finally released we brought her home and everything, luckily they had a good friend of there's that let them use their camper to stay in, my grandfather had a big shop right next to his house and that's when they began building inside of that shop to make it into a "Shop house" and after the months of that, I stayed with them again on the first day they had the house and The next day I wanted to go home, but my mom had told me, She has somethings to do, and said that I need to stay 1 more night, and my grandmother said "Well he needs more clothes." And my mom said "Okay, I'll bring y'all some here in a little bit" And after a few hours of us calling, texting and blab blab, we finally decided we'd just go to her house and grab them there, come to find out she was having a party, and other stuff like that.. and of course more drama started making me have to basically move in with my grandparents, (I still remember that day like it was yesterday) and so after living with them for a couple of months, and being in the process of building a new room in the house to be mine, my grandmother enrolled me into a online school program called k-12 and some months went by (Keep in mind I'm like really far behind) I just didn't seem to be learning anything at all, so we decided to get a touter for me, that didn't work either, and then we just went to books (Now I'm 14) and still am having trouble to this day, my biggest fear is that I'm not going to make it anywhere in life without any education whatsoever Everything I know I've learned on my own, and haven't learned a single thing in school whatsoever, me and my grandmother fight almost everyday about it, I can't seem to have a normal life, with friends, waking up early, doing just NORMAL THINGS, I feel as it is all my fault for not wanting to do it at all when I was younger, and even today I'm pretty much in the state of depression.. (For me, it was a horrible experience and I have to deal with it everyday, and I hate it...)
guys please know that its all personal, I struggle in public school because im so talkative and do all my work at home. i transfered to online all year and I'm a straight A student that loves school. it all depends on your own mindset and work style. i love working at home and spending hours in front of my computer doing research.
I do online school and have for 3 years total. I did grade 4 and 5 homeschooled. It was good, didn’t really care cause I was a kid but it was good. Went back to grade 6 because I wanted to graduate and I love being around people. All my friends ditched me there, got depressed then went back for grade 7. I kind of like it, the people online are very nice. I’m on top of my classes. But.. I’m super depressed and lonely. My brother insults me when I’m asked to do his chores when he’s too lazy to. He says, “Just because I’m not a sad lonely sulk like you who has all the time in the world to do every single thing, does not mean I’m lazy and cant do it later.” It hurts man, just because I’m not in a good state, enough to go to public school doesn’t mean I should be insulted for that. But I’m going back next year. And I’m so excited to have friends and be around people and have a ‘normal’ school experience from here on out.

i need help, i want my mom to let me do online school i keep writing pros and cons but she says stop or no. i really think this is good for me because my school moves in without me and i miss school bc i go to mexico and i just don’t go to school bc i’m not in the mood (my parents are mexicans).

i totally agree with you. i’ve done online school 4 years off and on. i always forget how bad it is when I go back, after this year I’m never going back. i’m so behind in some of my classes that I could fail, and I’m trying to catch up by doing like 15 lessons a day. after winter break is always when it goes downhill 😂
