Jerry Ford didn't stumble. Both teams played Notre Dame in '74. Army lost 48-0 while Navy gave ND all they could handle and even led 6-0 going into the fourth quarter before ND pulled it out.
Couldn’t agree more. For years, both teams’ uniforms were as classic as Notre Dame’s…………..why wouldn’t both schools want to preserve that tradition for this annual game ?

I thought that both teams stood for the other's alma mater at the end of the game. Or is that a tradition that started more recently.

Completely agree. It's a shame they wear the absurd-looking uniforms nowadays.
Navy best was the throwback to early 60s during Staubach senior year.
