yeah we see a scene of a boxer doing the same thing within the boxing ring. It probably functions in conjunction with the nen-inscriptions on the island. Who knows how much he might drop off if he isnt on the island itself, maybe he is still strong but the whole of greed island shuts down.
Still, that is something. That also puts Gin's crew on another tier because it could either be that Razor has great nen skills (and the Island being an island is still a huge area) or someone from the crew can do that type of amplification for that large area. Other characters can only create smaller spaces.

I'm pretty sure Togashi gave that rating to Razor because he has to devote so much to maintain Greed Island, which limits his other applications. This makes sense when you also include the fact that they asked Ging specially to hunt Razor, that means with his true power he should be a top tier powerhouse.
I agree that the chart doesn’t include absolutes. In that same chart Togashi placed Kurapika between conjurer and specialist, where an ‘absolutely accurate’ depiction would be him as conjurer only, considering that his scarlet eyes are an “add-on” to his body and soul.

Yeah, to think that if Gin was required then Razor should already have almost completed his nen ability/skills. Unless his skillset has always been video-game based but it seems it is only sports-based (volleyball or dodgeball). Then asking him to also perform that function in Greed Island means he has spare skill and nen to be able to do it. If he can create a dodgeball team that can also pretty much body other hunters, then he is on a higher tier for sure.
I refuse to forget Razor. Mainly because many people don't. Also because he's a badass.

And to be imprisoned in such a large area and have that type of perks? He must already have large amount of nen considering one of his skills to create his on dodgeball team that can even output nen that can hurt even Hisoka (who is a transmuter but great enhancement ---just based him taking damage from Chrollo's attacks and him being able to turn playing cards into one of the sharpest thing in HxH verse). I would expect that amount of perks from a smaller area like a room or maybe stadium size or someone else from the crew that can amp others. But considering that he has too much control and no other Greed Island admins were mentioned to share that responsibility, then Razor is definitely a Him. I'd ever wager that Gin probably just impressed him to catch him rather than wiping the floor with him. Ging probably outsmarted him rather than overpowered him.
I always recognized Razor for how crazy he was when he said his nen runs the game and still has enough to control his puppets AND infuse nen into the ball. I always assumed he had restrictions that prevented him from leaving and another to enforce the rules of the island. Which could be a pretty cool way for a murderer to "redeem" themselves.

Here's a fun thought. Haikyuu didn't even start until a year after the second Hunter x Hunter anime started airing. And there's even a volleyball player "crossover" since Daisuke Namikawa, voice of Hisoka, also voices Oikawa.
Tome 17 is probably my favourite, the dodgeball game was even more exciting than the final fight vs Genthru and his friends, so many things happened in just a few chapters.
Nobody for about Razor. He's basically the final boss of a story arc.

Razor is one of the things I love so much about Nen as a power system and how certain nen users can be absolute monsters through certain conditions and restrictions
Razor is the god of greed island, In his territory without playing games i think he could beat the phantom troupe comfortably in any format. Chrollos depends a lot on Togashi for what he can pull up imo, so i wouldn't give a straight W or L, if this had to fit a canon story he would likely be the decisive factor

Greed island uses tons of nen restrictions and covenants also they probably use those nen inscriptions. That’s how their aura is boosted so much to pull all that off. Razor is by no means weak but he wouldn’t be capable of maintaining all the emission spells for all those players and play a dodgeball game against other strong nen users at the same time.
Of course Razor must have used restrictions. But still, have you seen other characters outside of Kurapika gained godly powers with very limited setbacks from restrictions? Haiku guy should be OP but he is not in practice.
8:33. It means that he doesn't use his natural nen class, emission, to its fullest capabilities. Thats it. Its evident in the fact he uses a very basic emission ball attack, but also in the fact that he conjures nen beasts and manipulates them, which is outside emission
I think Razor is on the Chrollo/Hisoka tier, the rest of the troupe would not be close to beating him unless they'd use dirty tactics/teamwork

Feitan may be able to give him a run. There is a reason the other Phantom Troupe members booked it the moment they saw him use Pain Packer. Not saying Feitan would win 100%, but Razor definitely isn’t going to just get an easy W.
I don't understand why people think Pain Packer is an instant win ability, its very clearly shown you can easily blitz Feitan or incapacitate him before he could even use it. Razor and Hisoka should be able to do that

@@WanderingMendicant-qd7mv Not just teleportation, but also for manipulating nen constructs and transfering and maintaining manipulation/conjuration/transmutation effects at a distance. Unless you have an effect that only works while you are in constant direct contact with something, you literally can't do without emission, which is wild. There are geniuenly only like 5 characters who don't make use of emission to some extent

In addition to all the restrictions(on him personally or on the cards or systems themselves) they also have that nen boosting writing that that emmiter used to power up his abilities. They probably use that nen wrighting all over the island. Razor and the other game master are absolutely busted don't get me wrong but greed island is an insane feat of nen engineering. Personally I wouldn't have minded a chapter or two on the background mechanics that make it all possible.
Okay based on my comment in the video on Gyro ... Razor started out the same except had a way out in someone being there for him. And that changed everything. This also mirrors reality in such a "right in the feels kind of way".
Think about the alternate kimera ant arch we could have got. Meruem arrives at Greed Island and gets obsessed with volleyball after my man's pulls all his aura away from the island to focus on the game.
Theres a lot of the cast not shown in the succession arc. Another mirror from Togashi, the chimera ant was dealt with a specialized squad comprised of less than 10 experienced hunters with limitations of an empire. Now on the black whale with a huge cast comprised of the good hunter org and the bad in phantom troupe has to deal with the limitations of an empire in a blood competition. I think we get a few key deaths and crucial post mortem nen on the trip to the dark continent

keep in mind the comp of the troupe, Franklin makes holes in people and for shizuku that is a win condition. That means phinx and phetan would not be able to get razor vulnerable enough to get franklins ability to actually put holes in him to win the fight. I dont think kortopi or shalnark are worth much
like add in SSJ shalnark and they still cant beat razor and he certainly wont get stabbed by a basic manipulation ability

If he were to go back out into the rest of the world, get some training in maybe, run into some other strong nen users, make a new nen thats not just for volleyball games but actually killing people, hed definitely get to genius if not ultimate

I'm rewatching the anime and I'm curious about Zeno and Silva versus Chrollo. Why weren't they actually able to kill Chrollo? Also, in anime it shows a scene of Silva and Chrollo staring each other down in the past when Silva commented on Chrollo's growth, which implies they fought or almost fought. Any theories on why they were able to both leave without killing the other? I find it hard to believe it was a truce.
They *could* have killed Chrollo right then and there, but Illumi got to the Ten Dons (by Chrollo's own request) first. Since the deal was off, Silva held back; his and Zeno's contractors were dead.
The time that Silva first met Chrollo was when the former was tasked with killing Shizuku's predecessor. It makes sense that both would be alive because the target was dealt with, but there aren't many details on the fight itself.
They explicitly talk about it, Zeno doesn't kill whennot necessary and Chrollo wasn't his target in either case, so he just didn't care enough to finish him off

I definitely think Razor is only as powerful as he is because he shares a nen power boost with all of the other game masters holding greed island together, I doubt he could do all of those feats to that degree without those conditions
Still, if you consider that he was already powerful enough to require Gin to catch him and that he is already an adult who should have pretty much formed his nen ability before the Greed Island. And if he can still expand on his skills, then that makes him even more talented and powerful.
@ The flaw in that argument is assuming that just because Ging was sent to catch him, that must mean he was the only person who could, or was such a threat that had to call in the big guns. Ging could have just been a Hunter from the association near the area when the issue came up

Hisoka is not even stronger than bisuke and razor based on nen alone, definitely not in physical strength too. Illumi is probably 95 to hisoka's 100 points.
Yeah Chrollo fought the two Zoldycks with great handicap, but he didnt win or achieve anything he intended to do and he was getting pommeled and none of the two were fighting at 100%( knowing zeno was capable of dragon dive, spear, head etc atm).
Feitan has a way too fragile of a body to fight razor. Raw emissions from an ant squad leader had him badly wounded, i dont think he would have time to activate pain packer once he gets jumped by multiple razor devils.
Phinx has a very long winding to get a powerful nen punch, (i like the name Reaper Cyclotron but that ability is dumb and not practical on an intense nen battle).

I always wondered why Hisoka never got crazy over this guy. I guess he's fodder to him
On the latest chapter hisoka internal monologue shows that he isnt interested in fighting with a group. During the match with razor, he wasnt fighting againts him one versus one and add to that hisoka was hyper focussed on gon during the match. There also a chance that hisoka realises razor power is even stronger only because of greed island or you can say hes power come from a group of people.
