BUT, I just found out that in Sweden this is completely different from the rest of the world:
"In Finland and Sweden, the dates of the seasons are not based on the calendar at all, but on temperatures. Here, spring officially begins when the average temperature rises above 0 °C (32 °F). This ^ I knew what Sammy was sort of going for because of the way seasons are kind of recorded through rough dates (at least in England), mostly for farmers but you can but calendars with the dates on them for when the seasons are recorded to officially change as it were. Just Sammy didn’t really explain well. Didn’t understand how the others didn’t get it at first but makes sense if for the Swedes it’s more about temperature.

To be fair, Sammy is actually right here, each season has a set day it starts, for instance, winter starts on December 21 in the Northern Hemisphere every year, Spring starts March 21, Summer is June 21, and fall on September 22. So Sammy is actually right, you can say, "I can't wait for winter next week"

Each season does indeed have a set start date for scientific reasons, corporate reasons, etc. HOWEVER, in everyday life we don't say "I can't wait for winter next week" but instead something like "it's finally getting colder, I'm glad winter is finally here." So in laymans terms, we instead go by weather most of the time instead of a set start date. But, we also have a tendency to go by months. So fall starts in September but if it's still cold we might consider that whole month to be pretty much summer until we reach October, then it's like, "ok, were definitely in fall even if it's still 90F outside." There are also transitions of weather in between each season which is also another reason we don't consider the set dates as the empirical start dates of the seasons.

jake fessler sammy is right he is talking about the dates when summer, winter, fall or spring starts and there are dates for that but teo, katie and the others are talking about the weather if the temperature and the weather conditions actually fit with the seasons normal weather (spring is rainy where i live and its its pretty hot) for example this year spring started on march 20th and ended on june 21th but the feel of spring weather could have been like a week or 2 before that like do you understand what i am trying to saying

They were talking about switching from CEST to GMT, and there would have to be a specific point for when that switches, like seen in daylight savings. Paddy i think said how it stands for summer time, and at some specific point, itd have to switch, and sammy doesnt understand that. then, it got off topic with sammy giving bad examples

The seasons merge into each other, like when winter starts to become spring, the snow doesn't just go, "oh shit it's spring" and disappear, the snow fades and the temperature starts to rise as it transitions into spring, then the snow storms become just rain storms.

Winter doesn’t come in one day, rather, it’s a gradual change in temperature over a certain time. However, many times, that change comes earlier or later than expected, in each respective seasons. So I still think its okay to say that ”tomorrow, winter starts.”
I don’t agree with the premisse of calling summer, ”summer” just because it’s warm out. I follow what the calendar suggests. And if it’s -74* degrees Celsius, in July. I’d still call it summer.

Wait, what? In Australia at least, summer is December, January, February, Autumn is March, April, May, Winter is June, July, August then Spring is of course September, October, November. Starts on the 1st of the month, ends on the last day. Is this not a thing elsewhere in the world?

The only point where you can say winter starts is if it states it on the calendar or you ask "Google"
Even then that is a median in between the climate changing from warm weather to colder weather depending on where you are in the world.
Just because you have a warm winter or cool summer doesn't negate summer being summer and turning into winter. Unless you have some "2012" movie shit happen and the north pole is in Minnesota USA, ( I think it was there )
Even then the Northen hemisphere is tilted away from the sun from September to March causing colder weather, while the Southern hemisphere is tilted toward the sun during this time causing Spring and Summer climate.

There are seasons in the astronomical sense based on position of sun relative to earth and there are seasons in the meteorological sense based on weather patterns. How Sammy and the comment section doesn't get this blows my mind.

These are the seasons of Sweden.
Shit spring (some of the snow is not gone and everything is wet) real spring (last 5 days) normal Summer (20-30 days) Rangnarök (Current) (it's 30 degrees or more and it's either burning or flooding) autumn ( around 5-15 degrees and everything is wet) shit winter (there's some snow but it's wet) real winter (lots of snow, -10 to -30 and everything is nice)
Katie makes a comment about winter obviously not going from August to January, but in Minnesota, we sometimes have "winters" (active snow storms) present from October all the way to May. And don't forget that depending on the hemisphere you are in, August could very well be winter (ex. Chile).

I live in a tropic country, there is only 2 seasons here. It's either hot or rainy season. So i myself have no idea when other season start in other countries. So whenever there is a movie trailer that say "this summer" or any other season, i always like "when the fck is summer?'

The seasons do nothing but split the year into 4 halfes. The weather associated with each season is simply what kind of weather is typical that time of year. The seasons change on a specific day and from that day to the seasons last the AVERAGE weather is associated with that season. For example summer could have a cold day but that does not make it winter. Even if all of summer was cold and all of winter was warm they would not swap places as the weather has nothing to do with a season starting or ending. It is only what happens during that season on average.
Overall, weather does not in any way dictate when a season starts or ends in any way so there is no connection.

Generally temperatures slowly change over the course of time, like rainy days start getting few and far between when summer rolls around here in oregon, yet some other place may still have rainy days
