I worked for thrive waaaay back when we were developing that mascara. If you want it to apply more lightly, warm up the formula. The metal tube it’s in conducts heat, so I just stick it between my legs to warm up while I do my other makeup. Gives you more of an every-day look.
Ok I thought I was the only one who put mascara between their legs to warm it up!! I feel so seen. My holy grail is L'Oreal Voluminous followed by L'Oreal Million lashes. Perfect combo.
Can we get a video where Nikki does Susan’s makeup for these videos? Including an explanation why certain techniques are best for photography or filming. Thanks 🙏
Thank you for all of your great content! Sorry, I know this is off topic but I have some video topic ideas that I don't see anyone doing, but I'd love to see: rating sunscreens based on how fast and how much they dry down (for those of us that wear glasses - you know what I'm talking about!), using one mineral sunscreen to start the day but then reapplying with a different mineral sunscreen later (say if you have one you like to start the day with and one to keep in your bag), trying different setting sprays over mineral sunscreens, and definitely more videos about tinted sunscreen and foundation pairings.
Thanks Susan for informing us about the definition of "cruelty free"...I admittedly fell for that guilt trip too and felt bad that I couldn't always choose such brands as I thought they were still good.
love watching you two together! I've been fans for years! I do love the Thrive Cosmetics mascara - as someone who has had dry eye syndrome since age 7 and all of my eye doctors have told me to not wear eye makeup (yea right!) this is the ONLY mascara that does not irritate or bother my sensitive eyes.
I've switched to the glow recipe vit C serum which is gel like enough to be a very thin moisturizer for my skin so I put the eye patches after that. SPf is usually moisturizing enough to be the overall moizturize and eye cream. Not when you have dry skin though!
Loved this reaction video!! I will still try to buy "cruelty free" products despite what you said. Now I really want to buy that lipstick and repurchase the nyx butter glosses
I do want to say though that the term "cruelty free" is not regulated just like "clean" beauty, but there are things like the leaping bunny certification that makes it more authentic
The Westman Atelier Serum is sooooooooo good. It's like the expensive Augustinus Bader that people love but its pricey BUT it's like. no other. This serum is like NO OTHER!
Thank you for bringing up the oil thing; I've really been confused about this exact topic of where to place an oil-based serum. It's runnier than my other serums so it's technically lighter than my water-based serums. So been thoroughly confused about where it should go... Before other serums, after other serums, or after moisturiser. What do you think? It's a THD ascorbate serum in a rosehip oil base.
I don’t like apps like that. They demonize ingredients by looking at them in extremes instead of the legal amounts that can be used, so it creates fear among consumers. These apps are funded by organizations and brands that benefit from this fear-based marketing.
Amen !!!! Say it louder for the people in the back !!!!!! Clean beauty is marketing !!!!’ Ty !!! I have been saying thing for a long time ! But the fear mongering is out of control !!! 😡
Hmmm im still going to go for brands that advertise that they are cruelty free because to me, it demonstrates its something that is important to the brand. But thats just me
I have a beagle and we want to rescue more as beagles are the #1 dog breed thats tested on but along with what Susan said you can be behind something or movement but you also need to understand the whole history of that movement and not ignorant to the meaning and start focus of that movement and not just want you want it to mean. I'm also not saying don't support or not support a brand but please be aware of the entire history of something before deciding to 100% commit to it.
I would love to see more reaction videos with cosmetic chemists such as Alex Educated Mess, talking about product formulations, ingredients and new technology in skincare. I love Nikki but I think sometimes the reactions on the makeup sections of this videos can be a bit boring...Also miss those reactions to subscribers routines with derms that Susan use to do :)
I think what she means is that companies will use ingredients that were once tested on animals, even if the company itself doesn’t test on animals. So their labs know the formulas to use because they were once tested on animals, so the labs don’t have to use animals anymore. Does that make sense? I’ve watched quite a few videos on it but I’m not an expert.
any brand sold in California, New York, the EU, Australia, South Korea, 30+ other countries and 10+ other states is "cruelty-free" or it would be illegal to sell those products in those places. testing on animals costs millions of dollars, and no one is gonna pay for that when they don't have to. it would be stupid (and before anyone says China, imported beauty products do NOT require animal safety data and haven't for a couple years). cruelty free cosmetics are a marketing myth. - regulatory compliance expert
Because they are, in most modern markets it is mandatory to be cruelty-free (most US states have laws mandating that, EU mandates that etc). What a brand allows someone else to do with their products in China doesn't really count.
@@morgianasartre6709but what is made in america, italia, espana…many products come from China. FDA in USA retests for all new products! I appreciate that Susan shares her products ingredients with other companies, hence one lab! Ty Susan. Ty for this comment too, justs gets a convo going. A good one! Be well! As long as ✌🏽, all comments can be appreciated.. so ty! Not putting you down. We all need education on animal experimentation, its still going strong..x
@@HazelEyedGurls Most skincare is not made in China at all, also even if there was some brand from China wanting to enter the US market - the FDA won't re-test on animals, it's not part of the rules unless you are, as Susan said, bringing some completely new compound to the market.
Because I previously commented standing up for susan, I will also stand up for lola (not that they would see these messages) - I am 100% for the correct order of skincare application, but I think it's a bit mean to comment that she's not the sharpest tool in the shed. Seems like she just thought that hey, I have acne so I want to put on an acne product before my moisturizer
Btw, I decided to watch The Summer I Turned Pretty after we shot this video. It's soooo cute!
Which team are you on? 😊
Please do a review ❤❤❤

Ooh I'll try that then, I have the mascara and want to be able to use it, but it gets too spidery for me. Thank you!

She doesn’t let Nikky reach to the makeup lol 😅 I think is just Susan Yara reaction and she is just there saying yeah, yes, ujum…. Let her talk hehehe
This girl is all over the place with her skincare, I can't.
Hey Susan! Love your channel. What do you think about apps like Yuka rating skincare products? I’d love to hear your thoughts on it
I don’t like apps like that. They demonize ingredients by looking at them in extremes instead of the legal amounts that can be used, so it creates fear among consumers. These apps are funded by organizations and brands that benefit from this fear-based marketing.
I think Susan is so used to taking the lead but girl!! Let Nikki speak too pls 🫨😂
I wish you lovely ladies would do these videos on us every day people. I need you in my life to tell me what to do😂
Blue Tansy f**KS my skin up. I remember I used 2 products with that in them and I broke out so f**king bad lol
Oh no 😢
What is a good powder that’s better than the Elf one?

Do you recommend Tom Ford primers and foundation? I haven’t seen too many tutorials for this brand.
I wonder why...? Lol. Most people don't have the money to purchase that particular excessively over priced make up brand.
Susan, you need to comb through Thrive!!
Please do a video on all things oil. The purpose, when it’s best to apply, your faves, your least faves, most common mistakes.
She already has. Just search Susan yara face oil lol it’s that easy
Yeah. She did a video on face oils probably at least two years ago, and generally speaking, she didn't seem to be a fan.

That's fair! We do it to make sure our community knows we're cruelty-free.

Yes halo powder sucks !!!! I feel the same way!!!
What are the both of you wearing on your lips?

Eye mask after sunscreen 😮
Echoing with the other comments stating that the commentary on cruelty free not being a thing or most companies are cruelty free, is inaccurate.
clearly u havent done ur research missy.....
PLEASE DO ARIANA GRANDE’s VIDEO
I heard Susan’s soul scream when she mixed her spf with her moisturizer.
I searched for this 🥰
I miss the videos of this is my skincare routine and products you like. I'm kinda over the both of you looking at other peoples skincare.
Beyond animal testing, cruelty-free labels let me know there aren't animal-derived ingredients in a product
That means you're looking for vegan!
A product doesn't need to be vegan do be considered cruelty-free, that's not part of their rules.
She seems to lack basic logic about the order in which to use products - not the sharpest tool in the shed, methinks.

I have to disagree! I think her enthusiasm for skincare at her age is really great. She seems extremely bright!
@better__beauty Given how much the order of skincare products is talked about, you would have to be asleep for the message to not sink in.
