The best way to play faster is to practise very slow with the metronome.
Just begin with a few measures and play faster step-by-step. Write down the metronome number so you can see your progression. Use always the same fingering and try to make no mistakes.

I appreciate your comment. I find myself (at that same age) as you were two years ago. If I didn't know how a song should sound played slowly like this, I would find it nearly impossible to play it at the correct tempo.
