The fact that the hack and slash / character action genre (DMC, Bayonetta, Metal Gear Rising) died just so we can get 7 Souls games a year that all look identical and play the same is seriously annoying.
It didn't die because of that. It died because you guys stop buying games from that genre. And now, 10 years later, devs had found out that every acton game that looks like a soulslike sells a lot so they are making games like that. But the genres are very different and soulslikes had nothing with the fact that very few of you actually even bought hack and slash games when they released.

It’s a great shorter kinda game I really enjoyed my time with the game, it’s a bit lacking in spectacle and a few other areas but a very solid 7 that I think most will enjoy if they give it a chance.
If this was a 2D indie side scroller with neon lights in the background it would be a 9/10 must play 😂 We criticize bigger scaled games so harshly compared to those that make games that could be played on fridges

IGN posting Ls and categorically proving to the overwhelming majority of gamers that they are completely mad, if it was a 7 it would have more than 400 players on steam at release, about half of those 400 players are credible streamers laughing at this game and the other half dono what underwear they should wear.
I've been playing this on Xbox, and as too common as this game genre is, truly the highlight and thing that I enjoyed seeing from start to finish is the Fox god Enki.

But make no mistake, other games that don't have the option to adjust difficulty are appreciated as well. 😎

The game looks like hard fantasy to me rather than a Medieval one. Are you new to the genre of fantasy? If so, understand that realism takes a backseat. This is not new to the fantasy genre.

Started the game, to be honest what impressed me the most, is that it’s not that bad when you decide not to play it all.
Honestly, the combat looks fun and a less meandering RPG is very valuable to a person no time. For an indie/AA studio, this looks great

All souls games with the exception of Sekiro allow people to created their own characters. Why so many "soulslike" doesn't allow this ?
the original nioh and lords of the fallen didn’t. you were forced to play as a boring dude, they fixed that glaring issue with the sequels.
probably just budgetting, if you can't change body size etc. it's probably less animation rigging work and so on.

Jedi Fallen Order and Jedi Survivor also have lower difficulties and those games are excellent.
