Eric Clapton gave Stevie Ray his seat that night so Stevie could get back to the motel and on to another location. Who knows? But straight from Claptons mouth. He took my seat and I still wonder why not me?

Cool video, but the crash was on the left side of the ski hill (if you’re facing the slopes). So, it was not exactly where you were pointing the camera.
Thanks for adding that. I studied some pics of the crash scene and had a tough time figuring out exactly where so I tried to walk around a little and show the whole thing as best as I could.
What a lot of people don't know is that, the Ski hill folks had just built the hill up like 500 feet that summer. This pilot forgot about this, he was a ,but forgot about the growth!
A lawyer who was hired for the case for the helicopter company, which he said the only reason anyone wanted to look into again years later is because of the big $$$ at stake, not because of the deaths, went there and re enacted exactly what happened with his friend who was a pilot at the time. Come to find out the pilot was not rated to rely on only his instruments at night, which he would have had to because for a split second right before the summit things become pitch black and you can’t see anything, when they re enacted during the day , the pilot had the lawer close his eyes and have him feel for the movements of the helicopter, it made a sharp turn each time but it wasn’t felt, when he told him to open his eyes they were headed straight for the slope. It had nothing to do with the fog
@@shawtyx33 I read this article only recently. It’s funny how the bad weather explanation persists when it was actually the pilot being thrown into momentary darkness and unwittingly steering the chopper into the slope. Weather was a contributing factor. Buddy Guy was in one of the first helicopters to take off and noted that the windows were entirely fogged over.
I've been to Alpina Valley to ski and for concerts. Before and after his crash. What I don’t understand is how they say his helicopter veered to the left. Especially considering the crash location. I would think that it veered right. Going left would've had them clearing the hill
That is the reason why the cardinal directions are used in aeronautics. (Right or left, it means the opposite if the helicopter was facing east or west). There were several helicopters which took the same heading, just this helicopter take off and stay too low.

When they re enacted it the pilot had the lawer close his eyes and see if he could feel it, he didn’t, and when he was told to open his eyes they were headed straight for the ski slope

Hmm. I know, in the autopsy report, it stated that SRV still had both of rings on, his heavy Gold Watch. An AA Coin in his pocket, credit cards, Hotel keys, wallet, comb etc. It didn't Say anything about his cross necklace, but, I later read it was given to jimmie, when he went to identify his bro.
The crash happened just after 0100, with no fire or explosion to pinpoint the site. The wreckage was discovered at 0700, and presumably secured shortly thereafter. When did the scavengers have a chance to sweep the site?

Why was Stevie in such a rush to get to Chicago? I had read it was to meet up with his girlfriend, but I wasn't quite sure. He is just so very missed. :(
I’ve heard many rumors as to why from meeting up with his girl to not feeling well to simply because a seat was open. Only those who were there with him knew the full reason.
His girlfriend, was in N.Y. at their apartment. He wanted to get back to Chicago hotel, to call her back. (Never understood that. There's phones in Alpine Valley, where he talked to her the first time.) Anyway, there's a Podcast of her speaking to a Radio Host on GOOGLE.
He seemed like he was obsessed with his girlfriend. People at the scene were reported as saying that he was in a hurry to return to see her. I've seen her on tour with him. Not sure why she wasn't there that day. I've heard stories from different people, but my mom seems to know somehow. She loves Stevie.
0:38 Abraham Lincoln had the same dream the night before he died and told his cabinet about it. He heard sobbing and went down and seen the casket and asked "who's dead in the White House?" The response "the President"
Even stranger! I had a dream about him in the early morning at the time he died. I was sitting in some huge concert room all by myself and this guy was playing incredible guitar. I asked him why no one else was there and he said it was like a private concert for me to pass the word on about his music because he wasn't coming back.. he looked just like SRV ...clothes and hat etc.. but the weirdest thing is at the time of my dream I had never heard of him or knew what he looked like etc. The next day I saw it on the news and almost had a heart attack because it was the same person in my dream.. I was in shock! Lol! Don't know why I would have the dream since I had no idea at the time who he was.. but what happened was I fell in love with his music and learned to play electric guitar , and in my fourties put a blue band together and had it for 15 yrs.. and passed his music on to others..all because of him! I put the plaque up at Alpine Valley because of all that happened! I'm still so shocked I had that dream on the night he died..
@@knighttuttruptuttrup8518 Right. I think, that's when it made that sharp bank & slammed. The pilot wasn't familiar with the area, so that was a major hiccup in my op. I mean, facepalm!
So sad the girlfriend had no idea that Stevie Ray Vaughan lay dead right after trying to get out of pine Valley after the concert..and no signals were out to give the indication the helicopter had crashed into the snow cliff and died on impact so they say..
My buddy was working the kitchen area in the lodge the night of the crash, he told me that him and 2 others heard a soft but deep thump right around the time of the crash. Eric Clapton gave Stevie Ray his seat that night so Stevie could get back to the motel and on to another location. Who knows? But straight from Claptons mouth. He took my seat and I still wonder why not me?
This is not true at all, because Clapton and buddy guy had taken off in another chopper before. There were 3

You ain't kidding. 🤔
So sad there weren't signals going out that the helicopter crashed..only to find out about the crash the next morning and sudden panic occurred when beyond a shallow of a doubt..some kind of Stat alert should have went out to signal a crash has occurred and pointed to the location..It's a,shame these bodies had to lay there unattended over several hours ..no answer for it and once again so sad.
I once asked my guitar instructor who the best was and he said almost everyone agrees: Jimi Hendrix. Then he paused and said SRV could have been, we just didn't get enough time. Actual location per wikipedia is 42°43′55″N 88°25′30″W | which would place top left of the resort from your view -SE on a map view.
Stevie was the best drugs made Hendrix sloppy. Stevie did voo doo child like a master. Every note Stevie hit was clean and precise. Hendrix chopped his notes. Listen to Stevie do it on Austin city limits and then listen to Hendrix. There is no doubt Stevie was the master.
@@TheSarahbeach100good points, blessed to see SRV play many times times during my years in Austin. Never saw Hendrix, but I think your observations are correct.
“Best” is often a subjective opinion. What does best even mean when ranking guitarists?
@@TheSarahbeach100 That was an amazing set! The best! Tightrope was wild. I said, That's what sober sounds like. But Live at Mcambo ( I know I spelled it wrong, maybe even pronounced it incorrectly. But Little Wing is one of my favorites. Tin P. Alley live at Texas capital ?? Was amazing too! He is the GOAT!
@@FreyzelProductions cool. Video is much appreciated!
1:01 forgot to mention his brother, in the middle, Jimmie Lee Vaughan
I've been to Alpina Valley to ski and for concerts. Before and after his crash. What I don’t understand is how they say his helicopter veered to the left. Especially considering the crash location. I would think that it veered right. Going left would've had them clearing the hill
That is the reason why the cardinal directions are used in aeronautics. (Right or left, it means the opposite if the helicopter was facing east or west). There were several helicopters which took the same heading, just this helicopter take off and stay too low.
If you haven't already, please visit the plaque I put up on the ski pole after he died. I was sad that the resort did nothing so I had one made to mount on the pole. I am still so surprised that no one has taken it down after all thse yrs...
@@ZekeAR2 the pilot wasn’t rated to rely on his instrument. I replied to a comment above about it. A lawyer was hired years later and re enacted it. Google it. Just before the summit there was a blind spot and everything was pitch black, The helicopter veered but it wasn’t felt by the pilot. When they re enacted it the pilot had the lawer close his eyes and see if he could feel it, he didn’t, and when he was told to open his eyes they were headed straight for the ski slope
@@shawtyx33 Seems like one solution to the problem would be for the charter companies to assign qualified pilots for every flight.
@@sixstringer649 which pole is it? I snowboard at alpine all the time and have never seen it

Me too, great show! I didn’t learn about the crash till the next morning.
My wife and I went to a bar in the 90's in nearby Lake Geneva. The bar tender told us that many of Stevie's personal effect were missing when they found his body. Taken by fans? I'm just telling you what this bartender told us.
That’s fascinating. I’ve never heard that before but certainly don’t doubt it. Thanks for sharing!
@@roberthudson1959 it's amazing to know nobody realised in 6 hours!!! How was it that there were no people close enough to hear the crash? Had absolutely everybody left home???
@@roberthudson1959 maybe those 6 hours in between 1:00 and 7:00 in the morning of August 27th 1990.... You know a lot can happen in six hours. Just a thought 🤔
@@FreyzelProductions Thank you for the info....
@@Say_No-2_Animal-Abuse_ Thanks, I will check it out...
He heard sobbing and went down and seen the casket and asked "who's dead in the White House?"
The response "the President"
How does a helicopter and five people (?) go missing for 6 hours and no one notices? Especially when one of them was SRV.
Good question. Weren't they supposed to meet back up in Chicago? I thought they were in some kind of air caravan
@@knighttuttruptuttrup8518 Right. If my memory serves me, Eric's was behind Stevie's not 100 percent sure, but Stevie's was described as flying lower & at a faster speed than the others & it seems his chopper just disappeared into the fog.
The hill is a joke it's amazing the pilot crashed into that.
Didn’t even know he was dead lol
I don't get it, the crash was just after takeoff, no one heard the crash? It was right there.
My buddy was working the kitchen area in the lodge the night of the crash, he told me that him and 2 others heard a soft but deep thump right around the time of the crash. They thought it was just a noise from the stage area equipment personnel taking things down at the time. He said it was very rare to hear anything from the stage area after the show is over, they just didn't realize what they actually were hearing until the next day.
@@The-Noc I've read a few comments on various channels. One that stood out, a guy & his buddy were sitting in their car waiting for traffic, he said he heard a boom type sound, thought it was fireworks. He described a slight shake.
Quite a few mistakes, such as Clapton never identified nor was asked. Jimmie did
Did you really have to go that far to describe the list of fatal injuries to Stevie Ray? I really don’t know what I was expecting but I attended school in Dallas TX with Stevie and Jimmy so I knew them quite well
Since you are just giving facts in this video , with zero sentiment or emotion, I can understand how you could give that description... but for those of us who knew Stevie Ray, I am appalled at your insensitivity

@@asintonic Eric was famous already when his son was killed.
@@MemoryCircle yeah but if you're going to be a name such as Eric Clapton, in this society... Unfortunately you have to sacrifice your first son, it's a very common thing that is relatively unnoticed by the masses. Basically if you want to have the success that Eric Clapton has, and you don't want to end up being suicided and turned into a martyr. Then you basically have to comply with what all the other high rolling blood drinking celebrities do. Pedophilia is a big part of it
