My great grandfather was injured beyond recognition the poor man lost half of his face/head after a grenade ended up in his tank i can remember being terrified of him when i was a child. i am eternally gratefull to him and all of the men who served in this campaign.
These are the men I remember from my grandfather's generation. Humble, underspoken and reserved. Real men who have seen things. All my respect.
we will remember them.
My great uncle William is buried somewhere in that cemetery in El Alamein I want to raise money to go there and pay my respects to him I’ll be the only one of my family that was able to make it there.
That is my Great grandfather
is your great grandfather still alive? I run a non-profit www.heroesofthesecondworldwar.org and we are making a TV series with the History Channel and I would be very interested in interviewing Mr. Toms as we are currently conducting interviews in the United Kingdom! My email is heroesofthesecondworldwar@gmail.com
Thank you!- Rishi Sharma
