Emery is a genius. His first full season, he gets Aston Villa to qualify for the Champions League. We hadn't played in the Champions League/European Cup for 41 years. That is insane 🤯 So who knows what he could achieve this season.
Villa have the sixth highest wage bill in the premier league so no it’s not that much of an achievement that squad it’s good but not great, also that squad has had so much money spent on it, Villa have easily spent £700 million or more since the new owners have come in and have had one good season which ended in failure as they didn’t win the conference league when they should have walked the competition

True. But better iron out all the problems in Pre-season (that's literally what it's for as much as fitness and the rest). Better to lose those pre-season friendlies, so long as the team can get it's sith together for the real games this season.
Yeah the levels are higher this season. And lots of new players needing to settle. Young players aswell. So I’m hoping we can finish high again but top 6 will be impressive
@@Sprucy99 ... When I look at the other competing teams, I say that the levels are lower this season. Expected teams to drop off, in my opinion are Liverpool (without Klopp), Man City (likely Pep's last season and possible Court case points deduction distractions).Chelsea (starting all over again with a new manager). Villa should have an easier Premier League season than last season.
I be honest, Villa looks a bit light up front, and with the Champions League , it will be tough to maintain the consistency. They will do well in cup runs, but the Premier league is going to be very competitive this season
Ol' mate right, Villa to win the League and go very deep into Champions League, how about we say into the UCL final against the whoevers😂 ... watch Murphy completely lose his shyte if that did happen... UTMV🦁🏆🏆👍
The laughing was pathetic but in reality Villa could be challengers or top 10, such is the PL competitive nature. The difference is Emery, he's a marvel.
They all said villa wouldnt do what tthey did last season.. they predicted the usual united chelsea tottenham.. other than the three mainstays. Pull up danny murphys predictions for villa and hes wrong 99% of the time
What they should do is go after a cup like the league cup or FA Cup. It’s unlikely they will finish as high up in the league next season. Teams will take them much more seriously
It doesn’t work like that unfortunately. You can prioritise your best line up for cup games, but you’re only one game away from being eliminated. No guarantees in the cup so strategising to prioritise them is very risky.
@@SCW_Fitness not saying they’re going to win either just that they should take it more seriously and have a mentality and hunger to win. You see the levels drop in cup games because too many of these teams prioritise the league. Seems ridiculous seeing as for many it’s their only chance at glory. Who cares about finishing in the top 6 or even top 4. You don’t get a medal for it. Finals and lifting trophies are what the game is about and that’s what makes history
@@G-fd5ug The sad thing is that there is little money in domestic cups. As a fan, we love to see our team win trophies of any kind. Players love it too but getting into the Champions League is a much bigger financial reward. Big bonuses and budgets leading to bigger wages and pay for players. More money to spend on recruitment and a chance to solidify the team into a top side. I wish cups could bring clubs more revenue so they’re taken more seriously!
@@SCW_Fitness The PL is that big how that every club makes loads of money. You have clubs like West Ham spending over a 100m every season now, Fulham are spending loads of money and even forest did the past 2 years. I just think the clubs outside of the elite who barely ever win anything or haven’t got a long time shouldn’t be turning their noses up at trophies just to try and make a bit more money. Establishing yourself as a CL club in this day is pretty much impossible due to the money the biggest clubs now generate due to their brand being so strong all over the world. They will always get the best players. You’ll get seasons where you can capitalise on them being poor like last season, but it probably won’t be the norm
Why won't villa do well in the league this season? Last year they made it to conference league semi final, in a 58 game season riddled with injuries and were unable to really rotate the squad. Realistically villa won't go that far in ucl this year and they are not expected to tbh. So they may have a larger squad which can be rotated key signings made and key players back from injury.
My concern for Villa is that, by the end, it looked like the wheels had really fallen off last season. They really limped over the finish line and into fourth place. Only holding on due to the drop in form of the chasing teams and Chelsea running out of games to catch up. If their end of season form continues they could be in trouble.
That was because we had significant injuries and the players were dead on their feet. We have improved the squad depth this summer and if we can avoid the terrible luck with injuries we should not drop off the same way
We finished mid table table people thought we couldn’t get Europe next season we got 7th and then people thought we couldn’t champions league and what happened next we got champions league whose to say we don’t go better again. Yes it’s difficult but we’ve already defied the odds before why can’t we do it again.
Villa are still short imo and so far have not done enough in this window, need a Diaby replacement , a Centre Back and a better quality back up keeper to Martinez. As a Villa fan as things stand I’m not convinced we finish top 6, that opinion might change if we can get another 2 or 3 of quality through the door.
With citys hearing put forward that will be them out of title race. They will either get a massive points deduction or be relegated. So this is the year title will go to the pool or Arsenal
Villa will have a good season because of their manager and the quality of the squad but they are not ready to challenge and will be in a fight for top six. With Spurs, Chelsea, Man United and Newcastle battling for those positions it’s going to be a great season and I just feel it will be the Geordies who get there.
I’m thinking top 7,6 for villa Gonna be a tough start to this season I can actually see us close to 9th,10th after 10 games We’re gonna take some time to gel no doubt
I think its healthy and makes for a more exciting season when 'outsider' clubs ruffle a few feathers. An example was Leicester winning the title a few years back. Not saying Villa will this season but other teams shouldn't just be there to make up the numbers.
If Villa are having these high expectations surely Newcastle United have to be in the conversation as well? They have to be in the top 4 because they were average last season. But it's going to be so competitive at least 5 or 6 clubs outside the top 3 trying to get into 4th.
I remember when Murphy said Villa can't even sell out the ground....that aged well. Yes, record it guys, what's the point each year in dreaming and hoping if your just going to admit defeat! Ps, we have 2 new players in our team.....😮 UTV
Emery has done an amzing job and really believe he is only second to Pep. However, title challengers? with Champions league? Its a real tough ask. We're short in defence and no replacement for olie Watkins if he gets injured. We will have an amazing season if we get into the TOP 4 Again! Douglas Luiz will be a huge miss too!! UTV!
They won't challenge for the title but I think theyll be top 4 again ; theyve strengthened the squad to cope with the UCL and look better than the other teams battling for 4th.
The whole new signings argument by crappy Murphy is irrelevant - they’ve replaced dead wood with good additions, not all of them will start, they’ve improved with depth if anything
Darren knows his stuff but we won't challenge much in the Champions League we will then concentate on winning the League Cup again and do well in the Premier League. Here's the table. 1 Arsenal 2 Aston Villa 3 Man City 4 Man Utd 5 Liverpool 6 Tottenham 7 West Ham 8 Chelsea 9 Newcastle 10 Brighton 11 Crystal Palace 12 Fulham 13 Bournemouth 14 Brentford 15 Leicester 16 Everton 17 Wolves 18 Notts Forest 19 Ipswich 20 Southampton
Darren Lewis is one of the few journo's that treats us with a modicum of respect. If he was saying the same about Tottenham or Newcstle i doubt very much if Danny Murphy would be sniggering and being so disrespectful. Does he not remember that Villa finished well above those teams last season despite having a horrendous injury list, which by the way Emery insisted his players did not use as an excuse. Underestimate us at your peril.......In Emery we trust. UTV
@WorldNewsUK10 they've added a lot of quality depth. Remember Villa were basically top at Christmas, and then fell away because of injuries and going deep in Europe. Could well not have to deal with those this season
the premier league is still dominated by the clubs with huge budgets. there isnt that much variability in it at the top end. Only 3 clubs outside the the big 6 have made it to champions league in the past 30 years and they only made it one time each. eventually people will get bored of it unless the competition is fair
How I would love 9 months from now for Danny Murphy to chew on his words. Always so sure aren't they these pundits that the big clubs will always be the contenders.

Murphy is a clown, average footballer, bad pundit. Total disrespect for Emery who picked VILLA up from 27th, got them into Europe, then first full season into the CL. Murphy is a mug.
I'm not saying We won't struggle but the constant comparisons to Newcastle lack context to the point of being ridiculous. We already achieved top 4 with a long European run - in a season where We too had many injuries. Newcastle (righly) wanted to hold on to their best players and did not improve squad depth. Villa have sold 2 big players, bought 2 big players and have largely increased the depth of the squad. Newcastles style along side what was a small squad had them struggling for energy very early on with all the games. Villa change styles depending on the opposition and many times cover little ground. That helped a small squad last season but as mentioned that squad is no bugger. On the negative side, I'm not sure the 1st 11 is any strong and maybe even Weaker. We need at least One big player to replace Diaby and the back line needs a good player or 2. I think We're better equipped to handle the amount of games than Newcastle were, I just don't think We have the quality to get top 4 again given teams around us have really strengthened. Our problem is that if We don't get CL football again, our outlay to try and do it will bite us. Amortisation of fees for players in after players sold means We'll be in profit on paper for this season. Next season We still need to find the extra cash (that the CL will provide) to pay those ongoing fees. If We don't do it, We'll be selling quite a few, putting Us even further back. Newcastle didn't have this issue is they didn't make it but decreased their chances of doing it. Honestly I don't care if We drop out early, We simply must qualify again. We have gambled on it tbf.
@@falconarrow I missed that point tbf. Emerys game management when the players had legs of lead towards the end of the season was the best I've ever seen from any manager. In the end We only just made it but no other manager could have gotten us across the line. Again, I'm not saying We will get top 4 again, I'm just highlighting that the way We're attempting it is different to Newcastles attempt and probably any other club I a similar position before. And that We have gambled a lot on it.

Amazing how Danny chat a lot of waffle knows everything about Liverpool and they have a new manager but villa won't even compete and they have had new players

Villa need a back up striker.
They have Jhon Duran
@@itamahokosun5482 that's true, if he stays (he very much wants to leave). But even with him Villa are loaded with midfielders but not many proven out and out goal threats and without Watkins the team struggles with cutting edge.
@@anthonymullinder1755 I think they need to start letting go of their old defenders, their midfield still looks solid to me, they just need time to gel, hopefully it happens for them
@@itamahokosun5482 Agree, like Emery a lot and it's a good club. Be nice to see them kick on
@@itamahokosun5482 ... We need to sell Jhon Duran and get another "proper" (and not disloyal) backup striker.
I don’t know where villa will finish but I do feel they’ll beat their points tally from last season .
I can definitely see them adding at least another 3/4 W’s to last years outing
I don't think they'll challenge for the title but they'll definitely challenge for top 4
@@Ll-ij2jh 🤣🤣 Who do you support? You sound a bit worried by Villa
@@gerard.villa1 I support Newcastle and I have nothing to worry about, we battered Villa both times we played them and got 4th with half of the budget Villa had
@Ll-ij2jh I thought you might be 🤣 You are so rattled. Doing your research on our spending and everything. The Villa owners have been there 6 years now, they have progressively improved the squad year on year, we haven't just thrown money at it.
@@gerard.villa1 I’m not rattled just a realist Newcastle have consistently outclassed Villa barring one game I’ve got nothing to be afraid of, Villa are a poor team with a good manager
Villa were close to challenging last year during the Christmas period until too many injuries
Danny Murphy prior to the start of 23/24 season: Man United will finish outside of top 6 "no chance", Newcastle will finish 29 points behind Arsenal "no chance", Villa will finish top 4 "no chance"
Danny Murphy is thick
as a villa fan i'm not convinced. we've had a poor pre-season.
True. But better iron out all the problems in Pre-season (that's literally what it's for as much as fitness and the rest). Better to lose those pre-season friendlies, so long as the team can get it's sith together for the real games this season.
This is a season of transition, we'll struggle to finish top 6.
Danny Murphy hates villa that's pretty obvious prob upset because his mate stevie g was useless as a manager there lol
Oh do shut up Murphy. You try and come over as intelligent and knowledgeable and you're not kidding anybody
Murphy hates villa however they will be up there
I be honest, Villa looks a bit light up front, and with the Champions League , it will be tough to maintain the consistency.
COME ON WE ALL KNOW ARSENAL WILL SMOKE VILLA
I can’t see a scenario where we don’t make Top 7, Durham and Murphy Hate Villa so I wouldn’t be surprised if this was just bait
They may laugh but .....
Those who last laugh last , let's see what happens ?
Emery > Arteta
Darren is 💯 Villa will shock a few people this season
Danny murph ffs why can't villa challenge or anyone else , Liverpool have changed their manager but that's not an issue is it .lets see
New signings yes, but only 2 for the starting lineup. Not really a massive change that will need time
If we are in top 6 at Xmas I think we will go on and push on
Total disrespect for Villa!!!
You warmed the bench more than Philips ‘Danny ‘
My concern for Villa is that, by the end, it looked like the wheels had really fallen off last season.
They really limped over the finish line and into fourth place. Only holding on due to the drop in form of the chasing teams and Chelsea running out of games to catch up.
If their end of season form continues they could be in trouble.
That was because we had significant injuries and the players were dead on their feet. We have improved the squad depth this summer and if we can avoid the terrible luck with injuries we should not drop off the same way
Aston Villa needs Ivan Tony
We finished mid table table people thought we couldn’t get Europe next season we got 7th and then people thought we couldn’t champions league and what happened next we got champions league whose to say we don’t go better again. Yes it’s difficult but we’ve already defied the odds before why can’t we do it again.
Villa are still short imo and so far have not done enough in this window, need a Diaby replacement , a Centre Back and a better quality back up keeper to Martinez.
As a Villa fan as things stand I’m not convinced we finish top 6, that opinion might change if we can get another 2 or 3 of quality through the door.
All the ex-liverpool pundits are so based 💯
With citys hearing put forward that will be them out of title race.
Danny Murphy should stick to his doodling; it's better than his football knowledge.
Murphy forgets we have our main spine plus others still there, the new players will have to work there way in bar Onana
I’m thinking top 7,6 for villa
Gonna be a tough start to this season I can actually see us close to 9th,10th after 10 games
We’re gonna take some time to gel no doubt
I think its healthy and makes for a more exciting season when 'outsider' clubs ruffle a few feathers. An example was Leicester winning the title a few years back. Not saying Villa will this season but other teams shouldn't just be there to make up the numbers.
2:28 Murphy reckons bringing in 9 or 10 players (obviously to cope with the extra UCL fixtures) is a bad thing...what?
He joined Villa they were 17 th , he walked in he was going for Europe .God knows what he said to them ….It changed immediately !!
Just remember, this is the same Danny Murphy that claimed we wrong for sacking his best pal, Gerrard …..
If Villa are having these high expectations surely Newcastle United have to be in the conversation as well? They have to be in the top 4 because they were average last season. But it's going to be so competitive at least 5 or 6 clubs outside the top 3 trying to get into 4th.
You could hardly say that Villa have been in top 4 form since Emery took over as head coach and recently became manager
What's everyone thinking for the opening game score against the Hammers?
U BOTH GONNA BE EMBARRASSED WHEN VILLA WIN THE TITLE
Stewart Pearce has changed
Mr antivilla Murphy at it again, every time he's on its talkliverpool utv
Darren knows his stuff but we won't challenge much in the Champions League we will then concentate on winning the League Cup again and do well in the Premier League.

2 Aston Villa
3 Man City
4 Man Utd
5 Liverpool

Darren Lewis is one of the few journo's that treats us with a modicum of respect. If he was saying the same about Tottenham or Newcstle i doubt very much if Danny Murphy would be sniggering and being so disrespectful. Does he not remember that Villa finished well above those teams last season despite having a horrendous injury list, which by the way Emery insisted his players did not use as an excuse. Underestimate us at your peril.......In Emery we trust. UTV
Danny just doodling
I think Villa finish 2nd this season
Don’t be silly, their transfers have been by far the worst in the league this summer. Their team is so weak now compared to last season.
But no-one looked silly last season predicting Man United & Chelsea to win it 😂😂😂
How I would love 9 months from now for Danny Murphy to chew on his words. Always so sure aren't they these pundits that the big clubs will always be the contenders.
These clowns said England would win the Euros 😂

I like Villa and Emery. But I think they will struggle to juggle CL this year, just like Newcastle did. Think they'll finish 7th
I think we'll get 6th but only because we've sold experience and bought young, it's a transition season.
@@MindSurf248 get ready for the media to get on your back and say you've regressed and try to get Emery the sack
@@outofthetrash5925 fair point I guess. Not many managers more experienced in European football than your one
