Thanks for this video. I'm a Brit and would love to see the Constellation flying over here, if you can make it. How about organising something with the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight at RAF Coningsby? It would be fantastic to see the Connie flying with their DC-3 Dakota, for example. They also have a B25 Mitchell, and their Lancaster, Hurricane and Spitfires.
Great looking aircraft with the beauty that most aircraft do not have. I enjoyed seeing the Constellations land and takeoff at Nouasseur AB in Morocco as an ATC. In flying back we had to land in the Azores and Bermuda before landing at Charleston AFB back in 1963 because of fuel range. I missed seeing the C-121A this year at EAA & Oshkosh, but I enjoyed watching this video ... Thank you!
My 9 year old son and I saw her at EAA last week. I want to say thank you to everyone that keeps these living and breathing pieces of history alive. Seeing them fly is like being transported back in time. I want my son to understand and appreciate history and there's nothing quite like a beautifully restored flying engineering masterpiece to capture his attention.
I was in the Royal Air Force in 1976 based at RAF Kinloss in Scotland. It was at this time we had regular visits from a USAF Constellation, it being the first time i had seen one.
That would have been a Connie from NAS Keflavik. I made 2 trips to the UK from Iceland, both to Mildenhall... and I had one flight on a Shackleton from 8th Sqd when we hosted it on a visit to Kef. We had a LOT of good times with our RAF brothers.
I'm so glad as a person growing up during the era of these planes, to see gentlemen with the get up and get to prserve these aircraft and makes my heart skip a beat!
I had the privilege to fly a Trans Canada Airlines Conny from Toronto to Goose Bay Labrador in 1962. I was 4 yrs old, it's one of my first childhood memories.
Retired TWA mechanics have worked on a Connie in KCMO for quite some time. A major challenge is training FAA inspectors on how to inspect an aircraft older than their parents.
I remember this plane when it was on static at Planes of Fame's satellite museum at Valle Arizona. Sold after founder of POF passed away. As I recall it took em a year to get it in ferry permit shape to leave on it's own steam.
I am looking forward to seeing another Connie, Columbine II, become airworthy again also. I understand the man who was behind this project has passed away. I don't know how that will effect that restoration. Great job on Bataan!
Beautiful aircraft. In 1963 I rode as a passenger in one of these across the Pacific from Clark AB to California with a refueling stop at Wake. I was an AF dependent and my family was returning from a two year tour at Clark. We had traveled over there on a 707 and the return home was a much longer ride. These aircraft probably didn't remain in passenger service much longer than 1963.
The last regular flight of the Connie in America was by Eastern Airline in 1968, although they were still being used commercially in the Dominican Republic in 1993.
It'd be great if the Museum of the U.S. Air Force at Dayton, OH could get Harry S Truman's restored C-118 (DC-6), named "The Independance," fired up to fly formation with MacArthur's "Connie" as seen here.
Lt. Jg. Kepford, name shown on one of the Warbirds. He shot down 16 Japanese aircraft in 76 days flying with the Jolly Rogers. Leading Naval Ace in WW2.
This beautiful aircraft rotted in the Alabama sun at the Fort Rucker (Novosel) Army Aviation Museum for decades before some very dedicated people got her running again and flew her out of Guthrie AAF.

And there're several P-51D's on this side of the Pond.
In my opinion, ones of the most beautiful aircraft ever built.
A lot of people share that opinion
Agreed it is definitely a looker I am partial to the Focke-wulf FW 200 ( CONDOR ) and JU290 those planes were just stunning lookers
I agree. Still one of the nicest looking airliners despite its age.
Thank you Howard Hughes!
It is. Too bad Pan Am ruined her reputation like they did for tickets
This interview was a class act! It is important to remember our history but Steve, Rod, and Stuart ARE history.
Well done all. 🇺🇸
Connie has beautiful lines.
A fantastic restoration of a drop-dead gorgeous bird - they certainly don't make them like this anymore.
No matter the era you're born into, whether your favorite turns or burns...
T h i s is an undeniable beauty and an American labor of love 👍

I have always found that plane simply elegant. It is such a lovely airframe.

Thank you for your service John

WAtched from Old Harbour Jamaica and I wish I was their.
I flew EC121's in the Air Force. Beautiful aircraft!
As did I... 2500 hours with the 963rd and the 79th.
Exquisite plane for sure, Glad they could save it...

Very cool!
The most pleasing to the eyes of any plane that had ever been designed. The perfect marriage of utility and design.
Absolutely beautiful ❗️
a beautiful airplane - that flew a great man.
My "Most Beautiful" list includes: Airplane - Lockheed Constellation , Automobile - 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air Convertible, Woman - Raquel Welch.
Fantastic job ,, High Kudos 👍😀

Stunning. Thxs4z honors to usa greatest General Douglas MacArthur

I had the pleasure to fly in the Oshkosh Boeing Stearman on an exchange with the British Army and the ANG in Wisconsin during the 90's
Bravo 👏🏻

A supermodel that never gets old
😎

NMUSAF artifacts do not fly and are not maintained in airworthy condition.
@@rogerd777 Pity (at least in this on instance).
MacArthur had a C-54 named "Bataan" during World War II and after until he got this C-121.
Lt. Jg. Kepford, name shown on one of the Warbirds. He shot down 16 Japanese aircraft in 76 days flying with the Jolly Rogers. Leading Naval Ace in WW2.
Great airplane!
By the way, MATS stands for Military Air Transport Service, not Military Air Transport Command.

Это мой любимый американский самолет.
👍
I’d like to change careers and become and A&P to work on these warbirds.
Världens snyggaste propellerplan.
