From a potential buyer's perspective, I have to give you Kudos for sharing the storage and Ram in the first minute or so! There are so many YT-ers not saying how much ram until the end...if at all.
I’m after a new machine for console streaming via capture card. And then of course video editing. Would the M3 Air handle this ok? Or better off going with the M3 pro?
Honestly that's pretty good. Obviously you're not going to use it as your main gaming device, but if you do want to play some games on the go, you get pretty decent performance. I think I've got more fps on my M3 air than on my gaming laptop when unplugged, and of course better battery.
5:01 wait so the webcam is always in the way? like even if i just use Chrome, that webcam notch is gonna be in the way of the top menu and the open tabs? also same problem in any game?
Well, it's a physical notch, there's no real way to remove it, it's just there, unless the game apply a black bar like baldur's gate or Minecraft, but the notch it's still there.
its always nice when someone takes the time to share how games run on these machines i would ofcourse never get one for the sake of gaming but its def nice to know if its possible at all just so you know what its capable of outside of its intended use
I have the 8GB ram 256 Air and pretty freaking good. I’m a web dev and it runs everything perfectly. I have Apple Music open about 20-30 chrome windows, sublime text, email apps, calendar RUclips and the Air runs it all really good. I have no complaints at all. Glad I saved the money
I’ve just bought a MacBook Air M3 I’m not very experienced with it at the moment but I’d like to play CS2 is it easy to get crossover and play it and would it affect the MacBook at all?
Amazing video! I’m planning on getting my first MacBook, but I don’t know if going for a 13” M3 MacBook air with 16gb ram and 256ssd or the base model of the M3 MacBook Pro with 8gb and 512ssd. I’m mainly a front end developer and interaction designer, using Figma, Vs code, some android studio and some Adobe apps. Can someone please help me what suits me better for my first purchase?
Adobe apps can be pretty consuming if you have something running in the background aswell. I don't really know about the performance differences of the Pro and Air but I would recommend you to go for more than 8GB of RAM regardless of which MacBook you will get.
Will cyberpunk 2077 and zero dawn work? Around 30fps is enough for me. Looking to buy m3 air, but not just for gaming, i love Mac OS and battery life is awesome.
@@levi._.1709 bro I just got the chance to test them both, lemme break it down for you. Display - Galaxy Trackpad - Mac Refresh rate - Galaxy Keyboard - doesnt matter (same) Processor - ultra 7 for games ( has better iGPU) For other stuff like video editing prolly go with mac not bcos the chip is better but bcos the apps are highly optimised and efficient. Battery - Mac Speakers - 16" galaxy are really loud but macbook air 15" has better spatial and engulfing sound. Both are good. Not a deal breaker. Though macbook pro has better speakers. Webcam - Probably Mac Flexibility - Galaxy (bcos of windows) Galaxy also has a touchscreen And for similar prices you get double the ram and storage on the galaxy. Both have great build quality. Although keep in mind that the galaxy has fans and will perform consistently over a long period compared to the mac air. If u dont wanna game at all or really light or casual gaming go with macbook air 8 and 256 base version. It will handle all tasks really well. But if wanna have all...thin and light, decent battery and better display with better performance in games go with galaxy

Macbook air m3 for xcode dev work.. While it's compiling on a super large project.. Play some games on your desktop gaming PC... Match made in ... heaven?
I have the 14” MacBook m3 pro (base model with 18 gb ram ) and baldurs gate 3 on 1920x1200 resolution all set to high I have a smooth stable 60-62 fps all the time… pretty happy with the performance… it uses around 7.70-8.00 gb ram constantly
Just a few things to mention: 1. Mac RAM does not work as straight forward. If you have 14gb ram free, MacOS will use more ram and load things into RAM you do not „really“ need i.e. it does a lot of caching. If you only have less RAM, MacOS will give some RAM free before using swap. 2. It would be great to compare ARM optimized Games vs Rosetta emulated games. There may be great difference. 3. If you want that the MacBook does not thermally throttle that fast, I would suggests unplugging the charger. The Chips run as fast as if you unplug them as they do plugged in. The charging of the battery however produces extra heat.
you're correct about RAM to an extent, but not in regards to gaming. Its shared RAM/VRAM for CPU and GPU as posed to having separate GPU Vram. if you want heavy GPU tasks such as gaming, 16gb RAM should be your minimum. Ram is Ram I am sorry to tell you, yes apple do a pretty great job in general for ram usage, but gaming is far more demanding than I think you realize. Don't be fooled into marketing gimmick of 8gb = 16gb.
You have to be careful with macOS memory monitors as it caches everything & shows higher usage to just essential usage so 8GB will perform better than people think. That said BG3 & translated titles will use more resources than properly optimised titles & there aren't many of those so 16GB for gamers is a fair call.
BTW playing these games, or doing any intensive tasks, while plugged in can reduce performance due to the intake of power from the plug It runs slightly better and cooler on battery
lmao what the laptop doesn't charge the battery when plugged in and charged to full, it just takes power directly from the wall. Really, it's better than doing from battery since the battery heats up as it works, and that the wall can provide much more power to the chip than the battery can however I don't even think the chip uses that much power.
My Macbook Air smashed my PC gaming rig, which is water cooled. The Macbook Air M3 doesnt even have fans (passive cooled) My favorite game is World of Warcraft which consumes 15 watt (measured at the power plug with full battery) while y gaming rig consumes 450 watts minimum during gaming and 550 watts during raids (more intense) Im happy with my 512gb/16gb config.

Bro I reported you, that config on an air with only 60 hz it’s criminal. It’s idiots like u that give Apple the confidence to release laptops with 8 gigs of ram
It is criminal there isn't more native games on the Mac. Enough people have Macs and for developers that support the Mac sooner will have less competition from other games so their game will likely sell better than on Windows. Also the argument that Windows has a large marketshare, the percentage can are used for gaming can't be all that big which many used in the office or have integrated graphics that are too slow for gaming.
it's simple really... a actual gaming PC cost less than 1000 $ and can play games even on 120hz. MacBooks... can't even maintain 60hz... even the steam deck performs better, and again it's not even 900 $.
@@unkown34x33 What do recommend for a gaming system in 2024 under $1,000. I am in the market for one. Noticed anything with a Nvida 4070 is between $1,500 and $2,000. I don't know if I want something slower than that GPU.

Could you test Act 3 in Baldur's Gate ? I have seen and heard that it uses much more performance than the early game you tested.
