Hi Scott and Xiao Yao! Love it when you guys do tea videos together. Thank you for sharing and for all the laughs. Cheers! Also enjoyed the Chinese lesson. 🙏😄🍵
I love all of the dehong purple teas, guys! It's all SO good and I love the fact that you've been making the same cakes every year so we can compare and enjoy the aging.
Yes! I love the banter you have going it is so much fun. I hope that you might bring back "can we stomp..." in the near future. I saw that Xiao Yao was in this video, so I just had to break out the XY blend that I just brought back home, and I have to say. Scott, you have to be careful, this might be the best blend (that I have had) from Yunnan Sourcing ;-)
@@Yunnansourcing Haha I wish, that would be much less embarrassing! Though to be honest, Xiao Yao was quite cheeky in some of those videos, so it wasn't too far off the mark I'd like to tell myself :-D
I haven't had a chance to try the 2018 version unfortunately. However, having tasted most (if not all) of the teas that make up the blend, I do think the qualities I like the most about purple voodoo (the full body, balanced taste, complex fragrance) are enhanced by the addition of the white and pu'er teas.
I absolutely love the 2018 version of this tea. After watching this video this morning I immediately ordered two cakes of the 2019 version. I'm intrigued by the inclusion of the raw puerh and white tea and can't wait to taste both versions side-by-side to see how they compare. Also, as others have mentioned, the playful banter and cultural lessons add much enjoyment to the video. Keep up the great work!
Nice to see you 2 together again. I had to go back to last years Video where you already announced this one. Thank you for the in Depth on Purple tea here, sooo informative. I might have to check in on this blend, going outside the box of the more "Standard cultivars of raw and ripe". Sorry have to bring it up again and mock Scott a Little. Last years Video was sooooo funny. -> Scott: ......….I´m doing a lot of stuff by myself. Xiao Yao: Yeah, like what? .. Scott like thinking for a second, then: *Owned*. Priceless. Love you guys.
Just to mention: I love your "bitter" violet pig! I never had the impression of bitter in negative senses. I actually recommend it. Nice session, thank you both!
Yes, it's a very balanced bitterness. If people are not accustomed they can find it a bit overwhelming. There were a few people who bought the Purple Pig for the wrapper and then complained it was too bitter (even though I put that in the description). ;-)
God, I missed you guys. I'm sure you have hectic and crazy weeks now, with all the orders. This cake really looks great and would love to have a taste. Where is a "Troublemaker"? Perhaps killing the skunks or other wildlife :D
Do you recommend brew it (and in general purple teas) with boiling water or 80-90 degrees? I bought this tea with my last order and is smell delicious, but have not tried yet, i thought that it would be usefull to age it a little bit. By the way, thanks for advice to drink it young.
Hard to say exactly... we are entering into uncharted territory. I have had aged black tea but it wasn't this particular varietal. I think keeping it sealed would help keep the potent aroma longer.
Your wife is great. The looks she gives you are priceless.
;-)
Add me to the ever growing list of people who think that the two of you are just adorable together 😊
Haha! Thank you!

So good to see xiao in the videos again!

I am psyched to make the 2020 Purple Voodoo!!!
I got the 2021 edition! I'm so excited !!!!!! Also I love the artwork.

"Can We Stomp"? An intentional misspelling? ;-)

Welcome back Xiao Yao! Scott (and We) missed you!
Thank you! ;-)
You should be proud Scott, this tea is freaking fantastic! Seriously, one of best teas I've ever had.
Thank you! Do you like it more than the 2018?

Let us know which PV year you prefer! Thanks for watching!
I love all your videos, but this one was especially funny. "It's a trap." Hahah!
Scotts like "Make more tea" in Chinese

Haha... that's basically a summary or 50% of our interactions. We both have strong personalities for sure!

Lucy was "busy"! ;-) We are glad to be back!
Not to stray off subject but will you still offer those malty yunnan gold / black cakes as well? I remember those from early 2000-2010...great.
Yeah it would be good to press some again for sure! ;-)
Purple 🐖 is hard core hahahaha but so good !!!!

I recommend 90-100C water and short initial steeps. Of course it's up to you... there will be more tannins with hotter water.
I loved last years cake! 🤤🤤
You prefer it to the 2019?
That gaiwan looks awesome, do you guys sell it?
We don't. It was a gift.
One case for now one case for later.
Basically yeah... that's how I roll!
Why not 3 cakes? Seal one for storage, store the second one without sealing and sip now and then from the third cake.
Well yeah! Duh!
How will a black tea cake age? Is this something you should ideally drink within a year or 2 like loose leaf black tea?
Hard to say exactly... we are entering into uncharted territory. I have had aged black tea but it wasn't this particular varietal. I think keeping it sealed would help keep the potent aroma longer.
If i keep watching these videos I'm either going to gain willpower of steel or end up broke and homeless.
LOLZ... nother video coming.
THIS. IS. AMERICA! 😂🇺🇸
ahhmuurrrica!!!
Haha, I need to beware of your traps and not buy a entire case.
Put you in a trance and then bam you clicked QTY 42 on the site!
Nice Session; Come On Scott! Do not fill up your wife's tea cup
;-)
