    I was in this victory lane as a little kid. I wanted to touch the car so I touched the right front rim. Burned the crap out of my fingers!

    I'm 27 and this looks like it would've been fun to attend. I'm too young to remember when Jeff Gordon drove a Lumina.

    absolutely Love this time I grew up watching ABC Wide World of Sports " the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat " I was so into Winston Cup that my Mother found a women who hand painted wall paper and for my 7th birthday they papered my bedroom with scenes of Petty leading Pearson . . .I drew cars all over the walls , Wouldn't it be cool if NASCAR had a series that used actual factory cars again ?

      shawn harold fox firth yeah I have to agree. The new cars as great as they are doesn't have that same home cooked feeling as these cars.

      I think the problem is, there are no real cars suitable for NASCAR being made anymore... I'm trying to think what the very last body style was, Dale's Monte Carlo SS perhaps, in the 2000s ??
      I could not believe that today [2019] it's Mustangs, Camero's, and Toyotas being branded as NASCAR vehicles, even though they are more or less exactly the same car - but then again, I can't tell the majority of the production cars apart today anyway, be it domestic or import, and that's really sad.

    in 1974 driver Earl ROSS won at Martinsville beating Buddy Baker. Ross is the first and only Canadian driver to win in the cup series. Ross is from Fortune, Prince Edward Island. He won rookie of the year this year too. RIP Earl Ross #52 (You can see him in this clip). You will be missed.

    To Dave Volsky - here's a lost track - 7:50 - that I'm sure NFL Films also used.

    7:50 anyone know the title of this music track? This was used in the 1973 Daytona 125 film on Coo Coo Marlin's win and also on a 1974 episode on Chrysler's test grounds.

    Now Dodge makes rear wheel drive, chargers and such. I'm not a Chrysler/Dodge fan but at least they're making a car (rear wheel drive) that fits my template of a stock car....

    Am I the only one that seems to think these cars are running at about 3000 RPM?

    • @georgewaters8592
      @georgewaters8592 5 лет назад +1

      It's probably closer to 6000 if I were to guess, although some drivers said in interviews in the ate 60s how they were winding up their big blocks past 7,000 rpm at times.... but yeah, I hear what you are saying....

    Dear God, this narrator sucks, along with the canned sound effects. Silver Fox in for the win though.
