I started with only lifting my dog on the grooming table for treats for several days before I desensitized him to brushing and the clipper. He gets all excited now when I get the table out, same with baths. He loves to get into the shower now because he knows it's snack time and a fun environment to be in which wasn't always like this, he hated it when I got him.

Are clipper combs the same as "guard combs"? Does it have to say "guard combs"? Anyone know? My cairn terrier is a bit more grumpy since he's gone blind, and the groomer he liked retired and I'm paranoid about him biting a new groomer so I was looking into doing it myself, however I don't want to hurt him.

I've been grooming my dogs at home for about 3 years and I always use guard combs for the most part. I just feel safer doing that.
