What an amazing journey you took me through! Very open, honest, interesting and gripping. Excellent that you're sharing your personal story, accompanied by brilliant filming. Congratulations to your daughter for her creative work. I definitely can see this story being snapped up by the BBC or any network. Well done Mem!! Khalid
Thank you so much Khalid. We’re so glad that you enjoyed Part 1 as much as we did creating it. Your support is incredibly appreciated and comments like yours will only encourage the stories to be told. Thank you once again and hope you enjoy the rest of the Bermondsey series 💙
Great uploads. Thank you. We came from Melbourne and lived in Lupin Point Abbey Road for three years. Walked past that place and down Bacon many times on our way to the Mail Centre in Mandela. Sadly, the daughter that I lived with has since died of cancer. I feel like I'm there again with her. Your story is so well told. Thank you.
I'm missing you all . Much love London town.
Hey you 2, Hope you're well. Ive watched all episodes. Wanna say,.. Thank you 🙏🏼 for being so real, 🥰I did live in Bernondsey, but as a late teenager. I wanted to comment and thank you for sharing your deep feelings regarding your Dads Passing (lost my dsd too, & 2 of my younger sisters - over a period of time, to cancer - believe it or not!) Also domestic violence with parents. I felt that too. Thank you for being so real when expressing yourself. My partner Scott, bumped into your brother today, They've never met before, They got talking about Bermondsey.... Scott, mentioned your vids on RUclips, (that i hadnt seen) and worked out the guy is your brother. So i said, how funny! I said."Stick the youtube vids on now," watched them all in a row. I feel a bit emotional listening to you, as did Scott, you're so real- and you're Appreciated ! i will buy your book as I'm intrigued, i just wanna add, I think that you're on an amazing healing journey - Good for you!
Peace & Love, Ann Xx🥰
Ps...I have no clue why this account has bumble as name.... think someone's been mucking around on my phone. Lol (Ann - Not Bumble 🐝Lol).
Wow, I've been living here since 2016 and this is the first time i noticed Alaska Factory ;)
It's great that you're doing this. I feel sure you will be successful. It has made me wonder why I feel so strongly emotional . I think the community that we lived in were united by the drastic post war damage we experienced. I found a skeletal head of a woman in Canon murnane road who was blitzed while sheltering in her cellar. I took it to Mrs Brown who owned the vegetable shop in Alscot Road. war damage was everywhere so it wasn't an attractive area but we cared for each other. I' was born in Curtis Street in . 1947. I would love to see Bermondsey again.xxBest wishes to you & many thanks.
Honestly loved this Mem, can't wait for part 2 and 3. I've always been intrigued by that Alaska building from when my Dad done a few plumbing jobs in there and took me to work with him as a kid.
Every building has a story so when the story is told it’s amazing what goes on or went on inside the places. Thank you for the comment mate, means the world. Part 2 and 3 on the horizon and if you enjoyed part 1 the rest will only get better 💙
Wow, I can’t wait to read it. What a beautiful project with your daughter. A proper Londoner.
Big thank you! Really appreciate it. Part 3 out next week so keep your eyes peeled. Can’t wait for you to read the book ✨
I was born and bred in Bermondsey and I can relate to your emotions it made me well up a bit watching looking forward to reading the book I remember the cafe and the garage and I can remember your mum I’m going to be honest I can’t remember your dad sorry anyway great video all the best 👍
Love to hear that Brian! Honestly made my day reading this comment. To hear that you remember it is amazing, I wondered when releasing the video how many Bermondsey people would remember any of what I showed and to hear that you even remember my Mum blew my mind! Big thank you for the support 💙
Not many people have that many great stories to tell. You have enough to write a book and it will be amazing. Well done
Thank you, it means a lot to know you think that. Can’t wait for you to see what’s in store in the future ✨
Love it Mem. What better way to learn about the real history of a place than to listen to someone who’s lived through it. Looking forward to the next videos and the book.
Thanks for the support Rob, love hearing that you’re looking forward to what we’ve got to come next 💙
Wow, way to make me even more curious about the book. I’ve seen authors write a bit more about the setting of their books at the end of the story but never living through it with them on video. Great job team and looking forward to the next installment.
I’m happy to hear that we’ve evoked that curiosity, especially as we’ve decided to go about it a different way. Thank you so much for the support, excited for you to see the next part ✨
Thank you for the memories
Watching the 2 videos just brought back very strong emotional memories for me. Coming down with dad to see your dad (RIP) when i was a kid, and while the adults talked in the cafe we was playing in the back, more with your brother actually. I remember the piles of stinking fur you mentioned left out sometimes. I remember playing in a yard full of scrap cars somewhere in the back as well. also your dads jokes he played on people with the envelopes and handbags was just legendary (if you know you know) LOL. Years later working with uncle in the garage at the rear of the cafe. Everything you mentioned from the gypsies to the spill are flooding back to me. What a rollercoaster of memories we all had there......The way you put these videos together with Ria is truly exceptional. Can't wait for the book release. This will definitely be a thrilling read for Everyone. Well done MEM/RIA @theonlywayweknew.
Big thank you Sez! Those are the kind of memories that will never leave us no matter how many years pass us by. Taking a walk down memory lane all those memories just come alive again. Thank you again for the support it means so much. Enjoyed reading your comment you just made even more memories come back 💙
I'd give anything to have a memory lane trip to Bermondsey again. We lived in Curtis Street which backed on to the Alaska building
I’m glad I was able to bring a trip down memory lane close to you, it means a lot to know that this video evoked feelings for you. Thanks for tuning in 💙
Absolutely loved that Mem, great cinematography Ri. Natural born story teller, so glad you’re telling your story, fascinating and can’t wait to see more. Well done guys 👏👏👏
Big, big thank you Harry!! We appreciate your kind words and are happy to hear you enjoyed it. Can’t wait for you to see it all 💙
Your video and storytelling are incredibly touching, and they remind me of the importance of preserving our roots and family history. It's heartwarming to see you embark on this journey with your daughter, highlighting the strong bond between a father and his child. I'm eagerly looking forward to reading your novel, "The Only Way We Knew." Keep sharing your inspiring story with the world 🙌📖✨.
Thank you for the support and what a lovely, genuine comment to read. The Only Way We Knew aims to highlight many topics definitely some of which being family bonds and history/legacy. I’m pleased to hear that that message has already translated through our work so far. Thank you once again and hope you enjoy what’s to come ✨

Crazy to recall things happening in places that look so different, proud and happy for you for doing this my friend.
Thank you for the support Charlie it means a lot! One thing I’ve realised is the one true thing that lives on is the memories, they honestly are the only thing that live forever. Thank you once again, really happy you’re enjoying it 💙

Great work, really enjoyed this, looking forward to the book
Thank you very much. The support is hugely appreciated. Can’t wait for you to watch part 3 out tomorrow and most of all read The Only Way We Knew. Happy new year ✨
Although i grew up in S.E london (lewisham) Bermondsy/Deptford/New cross were our playgrounds. Where in N. cyprus was you dad from? I spent the summer in Kyrenia this year and loved it. Looking forward to the book.
It’s crazy how all these neck of the woods are neighbouring one way or another. Hope you enjoyed the little bit of Bermondsey that was shown. Dad was from a little village called Louroujina which is now known as Akincilar - it’s a village that has stood still in comparison to others in Northern Cyprus. We plan to bring to RUclips a little insight to Dads village in the future. Big thank you mate really appreciate it! 💙
@@theonlywayweknew keep it going. Maybe I'll write a book about me growing up in SE13😁
Do it mate! I’ll defo give it a read 💙

Great watch
Thank you so much for watching and for the support. We’re so glad that you enjoyed it! Part 2 coming on Tuesday ✨
I can see what you are thinking about going back to your stomping grounds, i often think I could have told tales of my days around Bermondsey and my family gran and grandad on the silwood street and Southwark park as a young kid earning pocket money with paper rounds no social media then made our own pursuits playing on the old bombsites left London in 1980 now 80years old.Love seeing theses old videos
Your stories are worth telling no matter how long ago they were ✨ I’m happy that watching the video evoked some of those nostalgic feelings for you as it’s always touching taking a walk through memories and the good old days. Thank you for the comment and I hope the future videos we release give you that same feeling. It’s all about never forgetting where we come from no matter where life takes us! Thank you for the support 💙
