  • KNMA celebrates MF Husain in Venice with a solo exhibition titled “Rooted Nomad MF Husain,” showcasing an intimate collection of his works spanning from the early 1950s to the 1990s. The exhibition reflects on the juxtaposition of two opposing expressions, ‘nomad’ and ‘rooted,’ which, when considered together, shed light on the perceptions surrounding Husain’s itinerant spirit and his prolific oeuvre.
Curated by Roobina Karode (Director and Chief Curator, KNMA) and featuring a narrative that unfolds through a diverse array of media, the exhibition resonates with the 2024 Venice Biennale’s theme of ‘Foreigners Everywhere.’ Two iconic works, “Yatra” (1955) and “Karbala” (1990), stretch the expanse of the exhibition to highlight Husain’s engagement with symbolic iconographies, mythologies, literature, and visual culture, as well as the manner in which he integrated them into a secular artistic expression.
The exhibition is now showing at Magazzini Del Sale, Venezia from 10 AM to 6 PM.
