I just bought a similar parts washer. I am going to use a large funnel with a automotive type paint filter/strainer inside, between the drain to the 5 gallon pail to strain out any dirt. It means I have to keep an eye on it, but for me trying different methods and spending money on items that might not work, is a waste of time and money. This is guaranteed to work - just slower - and it is cheaper and faster to use/exchange a new filter.

I like how you removed the fire suppression from the lid so if you have a fire your entire shop burns down

There's no fluid in the tank it all drains into the 5 gal can on the ground.

I have been trying to come up with a good way to raise it so I dont have to bend over and so its not sitting on blocks or wood. no great ideas yet but I am working on something.

The stainless steel tabke sink should be type 300 stainless steel. Do not use an abrasive on the sst. It will remove the passivity (film-sheild) is removed and it will rust.
But since you are going to use it as a parts washer, it won't matter too much.
Also, the bullet feet are adjustable, so just raise the table side and lower the sink side with a slight tilt to back corner and you will be good to go.

You can check the sst type with a magnet. If it is 300 series the magne will not stick. But 400 series has more carbon and the magnet will adhere to the metal.

I like to use your setup, curious on the pump and filter you used and how it is compatible with the cleaning solution.

I am using this pump- "bayite 12V DC Fresh Water Pressure Diaphragm Pump" and 1 and 5 micro house filters. the overall setup works great. I have since added in the original switch and a laptop 115ac-18v power cord. You could just get a 115v pump and not need the extra cord.

Idk if you ever figured out a way to extend the drain up so it doesn’t get sludge in it but you can buy a “Double Tap” bushing. It’s a npt thread on both sides. I use them for sparge tubes on condensate tanks to preheat boiler water.

i made something similar but with my ocd i didn't like the fact that it didn't drain dry. i have since made the bottom recessed and made a 4" cut out so a sink drain would fit in. overall it works good but its not 100% yet
