I love the AVH feature for my Ascent for the school pickup line, and drive thru. I have a 2021 Ascent, so mine is a button I can toggle anytime instead of searching for it in the settings menu. I turn it off under normal driving conditions.
I'm looking at new vehicles..Honda Pilot elite & the ascent touring & don't know which one..have test driven both .I'm trying to find factual info on reliability of the boxer engine & cvt transmission & longevity
what is your idea of longevity? following mx/fluid change intervals as the mfgr sets out in the manual should give you all of the longevity you need. no brand is perfect. Both Subaru and Honda have their demons. Use 3rd party resources, scope out forums to see what owners are talking about and test drive each. bring stuff with you to the test drives (luggage, backpacks, family, boxes...things you carry) to see how each vehicle handles the task. Know what trim you want, but also test the one above to see if it is better for you. never by a base trim Subaru; start in the middle trims or higher....
Hi do you know how to disable the always on headlights? I want it off during the day. But it seems acting like a DRL. How can you disable it. Can turn it off if th e vehicle is on park only.
@@Robert_Cox there’s no option for that on 2024. It’s just flick switch u turn it to off it goes back to auto. And it will turn off only when in “park” gear.
Good video. Just picked up my 2023 Ascent trading in my 2021 model. One difference that troubles me is that in the 21 model, the lane departure warning buzzer was louder than in the 23 model. I became very used to the buzzer and it helps my driving very much. I've tried to make it louder by adjusting the "Warning Volume" settting from mid to high (or whatever the upper volume control is called) and this seemed to make no difference at all. The 23 buzzer is so low at the current setting that it is difficult to hear for me, especially if there is any noise eg radio or outside traffic. Is there a way to increase the volume that I have yet to find? Thanks
Two questions - does the AVH setting stay enabled after turning off the engine and restarting? And if I complete disable lane keep assist - does it show the orange lane keep assist disabled icon on the dashboard? Thank you for the detailed videos!
Yes I believe AVH will stay on even after you turn off and back on the car. Yes unfortunately if you fully shut off the lane keep assist you will get the orange light on the dash showing its off. That's why I leave it to warning buzzer only
@@Robert_Cox that’s great news about the AVH, previous model years would disable AVH every engine start. Bummer about the lane keep, it bothers me so I have to deal with the beep or the orange icon. Thanks for your time!
@@Robert_Cox is there a way to easily program the AVH button to be more readily available? I only use it when in drive thrus, and in my 2020 it is super helpful to just be able to press the button, then once I'm back on the road unpress the button.
The heated seats on the 2023 Asent limited suck! The dealership keeps telling us that our seats are within range. 94 degrees on high. Anyone else have this issue?
Kinda dislike how Subaru used the Forester version for the new 2023 Ascent.. don’t get me wrong I do like the sort of aggressive look it gives it with the front end but the rear end is just the same as the other Ascents from earlier years just a bit more size differences.. currently I own a 2022 Onyx Edition and there’s a couple of things I dislike and like especially on that trim model
One setting you can do is undue the radiator cap and drive another model under the cap . Ascent is a POS . I had 5 recalls on mine . Traded my in and never looked back .
Well it didn't help as I bought it the first year it came out and it had several recalls and several things that should have been recalled like the windows not rolling up
AVH sounds dangerous. If you get too comfortable with it, you could end up falling into bad driving habits that could cause you to get in an advertisement if you ever need to drive a non-Subaru.
Just purchased a 2023 Ascent and AVH is one of my favorite features.
Please do more videos on the 2023 Subaru Ascent!!!!
Would you please demonstrate voice controls for the 2924 ascent? Really like your Subaru vids.
For security reasons I would leave door unlock at driver door only, especially for your fiancé.

2024 has the quick access button on the main screen... no need to go digging into the settings.
Another useful video -- I might not have gone into those menus without your demonstration of the functions.
Thanks for this. I will be picking up our new Ascent in a couple of weeks and these pointers are great. Keep them coming. 😁
Super helpful video
Thank you, very helpful.
Really helpful, thanks.
How do you work the camera in the grill
Click the camera button on the screen
How to adjust backup camera? Need to center red cross over my hitch. It's off a few degrees
I'm not sure, you would need to talk with a service department

Turn the stem to off instead of auto

Any other way to turn it off?
Does avh work on slopes?
Yes!
What settings do you need to turn off when going through automatic car wash.
Just turn off the pre-collision braking if you leave the vehicle in drive while going through. Otherwise no need to worry!
You'd also want to make sure AVH (brake hold) is off.
Which trim level is this? I'm guessing Limited since it's a beige interior?
Yep this is the Limited
Is the transmission different in 2023 from 2021 ?
thank you
I don't believe so

Go to “sound” menu. There should be warning sound adjustments there.
Rob, thank you for these excellent videos. Is there a make and model you recommend for adding a wireless phone charger on a 2023 Ascent?
I would just add the Subaru one to any trim, but make sure yournphone fits in the compartment first
do the door handles have lights?

I agree. Bought a 2023 ascent premium. Heated seats are not that warm. My other vehicle a Kia is way warmer.i wonder If you can change the temp

Haven't heard anything sorry

@@nightstringers thats true. Its never a good idea to buy the first model of anything. I learned that from the gun world years ago… the hard way.
I have a 22 outback and I've tried all 5 settings...problem the avh has to be reset each time the vehicle is restarted...unless I'm missing something
Not anymore.

Other vehicles have a similar function but call it Brake Hold or Vehicle Hold
