    You really love your job and that's great to see. No better feeling than looking back at your work and seeing a job well done. As my uncle used to say to me when I was young was 'if you're going to do a job do it right first time' 👍

      Yes Simon, your uncle was right. Having the skills to transform things is really useful and seeing the finished results does make you feel good. Should take more before and after photo`s but keep forgetting.

    Brilliant!!!! I am just about to paint my kitchenette window and id forgotten how to do it, so thank for this. Last time i did a wooden window was my bathroom, and it dried too quickly and left loads of brushmarks, I ended up having to sand them. So great now I know the best way to paint correctly and be brave enough to paint after the sanding and filling and sanding! So i feel brave enough to paint now!!Thanks for this!

    I always use a lining Fitch in the corners Aubrey,it keeps those angles and lines nice and sharp! Must say that stained windows and other woodwork in modern houses has definitely had its day! Matter of taste I know but I always try and talk customers into having them painted just like yours! 😘

    • @AubreysAbsoluteDecorating

      Hi Kathy, good tip about the lining Fitch. Have you tried the pointed sash brushes, I couldn't really get on with them. I agree that painting the stained windows white is the way to go 😃

      Like you Aubrey I can’t see the point of sash brushes but prefer the flat 20 mm fitches! I always have a good supply as they’re definitely invaluable. 😘

    Hi Aubrey. You done this video painting 3 years ago. Since then can you now recommend the best paint for wooden window frames . Im about to paint my sash ? windows? Primer and paint ? Whitest durable lasting ?

    • @AubreysAbsoluteDecorating
      @AubreysAbsoluteDecorating 7 месяцев назад +1

      Sash windows get a lot of wear so oil based paints are harder wearing. However, if you also want them to say white and not discolour you could try a tough water based satin like Dulux Diamond Satinwood.

    im a bit skeptical on the zinsser 123 says its good for melamine and plastic and you can just scratch it off with barley any pressure with a finger nail done the same with oil undercoat as a test and the oil undercoat adhered really well to both melamine and plastic without any prep

    How do you keep the paint off of the actual glass when painting wood??? I’m having a lot of trouble. I’ve used tape to like it and I never get a straight line

      the best thing you can is learn how to cut in until you can painting will be hard work for you especially windows etc

    i find the mainstream purdy brushes in U.K. the bristles are to stiff for these zinsser paints i think a 100% nylon brush will be best for better coverage like a purdy nylox etc.

    What sort of filler would you use of it's opening between glass and wood please?

    • @AubreysAbsoluteDecorating
      @AubreysAbsoluteDecorating 3 года назад +4

      Hi, I normally use linseed oil putty for this. It is cheap and you can use it straight from the tub. Alternatively you could use a bit of 2 pack car body filler as it is waterproof. I hope that helps 😊

    Does that water-based satin turn yellow after time

    • @AubreysAbsoluteDecorating
      @AubreysAbsoluteDecorating 4 года назад +2

      One of the main advantages of these paints is that they do not turn yellow after time. They dry quickly, better for the environment but are not as hard wearing as their oil based alternatives.

      We tried filming this when the sun wasn't out but the camera made it look too dark. This did make it more difficult but the finished product did look good.
