  • Buffalo Mountain trail 199 - November, 2020. The holy grail of single tracks in West Virginia!!! Watch as I am pushed to the limits of my riding ability along the toughest single track trail I have ever ridden along with 4 of my closest riding buddies.

    Nice video man. About to head back to Matewan next month after not being there for 4 or 5 years now and taking in some videos to hold me over. Looks like you guys had fun! 199 is definitely a bear.

    Thanks for sharing! Fellow Michigander here. A group of us was actually at Buffalo Mountain around the same time last year, but unfortunately didn’t end up hitting 199. Looks awesome, will have to do it next time.

    Great Job. Looks like you'll learn a little about momentum as you ride/race more. The leaves make it tougher for sure. Soft suspension and some gummy tires would help too. Humbling video for sure. You sound like a great kid. Be safe and have Fun!

    Thanks for sharing! Fellow D14 Sprint Enduro C rider. We take 1-2 trips a year down to Hatfield McCoy. We made the mistake of riding 188 at Rockhouse in the rain, we didn't have a clue about the numbering / difficulty at the time. I can relate to the exhaustion and feeling that your never going to get all the way through.

      Recommend a gummy tire... I was running a GEOMAX MX33 and it didn't hook up well. Planning a spring trip myself.

    Cameras never do justice on how steep a hill is. Or how off camber they are. I have lived my hole life in West Virginia. Owned a motorcycle a majority of it. I have always believed if you can ride here at a decent skill level you can ride anywhere.

      Absolutely, one of the best and most challenging trail systems in the country.

    The guys I go down to Hatfields with ride that stuff. That's all they like. The hard technical single track stuff. They all use recluse clutches and trial tires.

      Tires make a big difference. My selection the past trip did not hook up well and is designed for sand/mud. Geomax mx 33. I plan to run a gummy hybrid next trip.

    What kind of bike is yous? Sounds like it’s got quite a lot of grunt, my dad rides a yamah 450 and it’s definitely not meant for this stuff but we shove it through all the trails anyway. It’s always overheating and it’s just way to heavy to handle over all these rocks but we can’t find a new one. Just wondering what your riding instead.

    Great video Kyle. I'm starting to plan a trip down there for the spring...assuming that's a good time to go. I race C class in D17...what would you suggest for trails to hit for a first trip down there? I was definitely leaning towards buffalo mountain already.

    • @tomcrnkovich1661
      @tomcrnkovich1661 3 года назад

      ...and have you tried the IRC VE33S gummy hybrid? I like that tire so much I'm going to try their front next year. 40+ hours on it, about half racing, and it still looks good too.

    • @kylehardley
      @kylehardley  3 года назад +2

      Buffalo Mountain has the most single track to offer. You will find the trails 150-170's to be nice and flowing single track for the most part. Then once you get into the 180s and 90s the trails become much more techincal and have very difficult climbs. We spent 3 plus hours on 199 and its only a little over 4 miles, so be prepared if you try and tackle it.

    • @kylehardley

      @@tomcrnkovich1661 i may try this tire out my next trip. We ride alot of sand in Michigan and the geomax33 is awesome, but not so awesome in West Virginia!!!

    • @tomcrnkovich1661
      @tomcrnkovich1661 3 года назад

      @@kylehardley Yep, we were in Baldwin last year and did Indian River this year...I love those sand trails you have out there.
      The 33s is a really good compromise. Tons of grip but it's still durable enough. You won't just burn through it.
