Yes I think the casting is great except for Amber Heard, I dont like her but thats me others might like her and that's cool. I saw the first mini series and I have read the book loved both but the book was better. May have to read it again.
I'm watching The Stand IN SPITE OF Amber Turd, mostly so I can see how her character gets killed off this time. Nadine's death in the original was wimpy, but with this version of The Stand being on CBS All Access, I'm wondering if they might gore it up a bit, and make it worthy of a Stephen King story. Also, I refuse to be like those who won't support a production just because of 1 freaking actor. I still watched Aquaman even though the Turd was in it, although I'm hoping the rumors I've heard are true and the production honchos might actually replace her with Emilia Clarke.
Same. But if you thought the original was too underwhelming then I'm curious how you felt about Nadine's fabulous swan dive in 2020. (And how about that Party City Corpse Bride makeup?!) Laura San Giacomo carried the role far better, I think. Esp portraying Nadine as a more conflicted victim and gone round the bend, jumping to her death out of vengeance instead of - what? Being pissed off she wasn't as pretty as she actually thought and that she didn't get to be Queen of Hell...boo hoo. The most unsympathetic, irredeemable mess of a character in the whole show.
Two Huge omissions in this piece: Harold Lauder (Owen Teague) and Lloyd Henreid (Nat Wolff). Their performances, along with Henke as Tom Cullen are, for me, the Best reason to even watch this. Nadine was grossly under-acted and inconsistent. Plus, the combining of her character with Lucy made no sense And deleted a nice subplot that brought Larry to full life in the original tele-series. This 2020 version had 9 episodes to develop characters and a cohesive story within. The 1994 had "only" 6 hours and managed to do it very well plus it actually had some scares! But, those three fellas sure shine brightly in this new one.
The best choice of casting was Alexander Skarsgard in my opinion. He played an awesome Randall Flagg. I was on the fence about other choices accept for the Larry character and the Glen Bateman characters- they were great as well. I was annoyed with the frannie character. I thought she was a bit too mean to Harold but then i guess that is the fault of the script. The Nadine character looked too much like the Rita character. Nadine was supposed to have dark hair that turns white over the course of the story. I think the actress did the part justice though - she had the right combination of niceness and meanness to make the story believable.
At first I refused to watch it cause of a certain person (we all know who that is) but decided to give it a chance, and all the cast did a great job...I'd still want to change that one person for a different actress lol
This was filmed way before the Depp situation so the studio didn’t know. Also Heard is a good actor so that’s why they chose her. So what I’m saying is they didn’t know she was a shitty person, they just knew she was a good actor.
I love the Larry Underwood change, it makes more since instead of saying "he sounds black" just make him black. I hope they have a full recording of the 'Baby Can You Dig Your Man' this time. I liked how it started.
The thing I don't like about AH's casting is that she's blond and in the novel, Nadine is a brunette and it's an important character trait because over the course of the book her hair starts turning white (and there's a good reason for it). Maybe the producers decided against it because of the way the storyline (fractured with flashbacks) progresses in this series but it bothered me as soon as I saw her.
I don’t like how they’ve taken away her torment between good and evil. This version nadine just wants to go straight to him, no struggle :( it’s flattened the character imo

This was a terrible show and some of these actors did a terrible job, not all of them but most of them were bad. Oh and nothing against Josh Boone but if he really loved the book why did he make this show so terrible and so out of touch with the plot and characters.
Exactly. She also physically abused him, cut of the tip of his finger, gave him multiple black eyes and other injuries. She admits to punching him and throwing pots, pans & vases at him on tape. She then lied about it and destroyed his career. It's a shame that people still give her a platform.
