  • Another outing with my longtime friend Eric and my brother. I decided to put aside my Mepps Agilia for a trip and go with the original Rapala F9 floating lure. A decision which proved a success.

    Rapalas catch EVERYTHING.
Over the years I have caught bluegill, bass, salmon, trout, steelhead, various salt water species, including a few kinds of sharks.
Like the Mepps, Daredevil, and three-for-a-quarter rubber worms.........they are always trusted.
The latest super, wonderful, improved, NEVER BEFORE SEEN crap (always expensive) is just the same old shit.
    Stick to the basics.
(and add a dropper nymph behind ANY of them)

I'm old school so I love the lures you mentioned. They are versatile and as stated catch EVERYTHING. The Mepps is one of my go to lures, as you'll see in just about all my videos. I like it because I can fish it shallow, slower for mid depth and even slower for deeper water, and it just plain works. Generally I will switch and go from a husky jerk to the original floating rapala as the water warms and vegetation starts to emerge, but I do use them throughout the year. In this video only 1 fish caught by my friend was on a spinner, all the rest were rapala. Thanks for watching and hope you have a great year fishing.
