The people commenting on dress color need to realize than most theaters don't carry these kinds of dresses in every color under the rainbow. This stuff is expensive. They probably used what they had.
yep plus the pink, yellow, and blue dresses in the original is just to contrast them it didn't matter much about the dress colors

Thank you! I was crazy sick when we did this though.
I remember this show. To all the people nitpicking the crap out of our work, yes, we needed A LOT more rehearsal for this number than we got. We ran the vocals five times before learning the choreo, ran the choreo three times, our dresses were made from scratch and were finished an hour before opening, and I had strep throat during our MOTN 2016 run. But this was HIGH SCHOOL. Gianna (Peggy) has a fantastic voice, and Serena (Angelica) also has come further in her actor's journey as well. Our casting, our vocals, our dresses; it's not going to be perfect. We had fun though, even if we were cringing a bit. Isn't that sort of High School in a nutshell though? Besides, we were learning and that's what matters. Maybe you'll see us again on a bigger stage someday, and we'll rock your socks off (if you're not too busy worrying about how my dress isn't blue enough).

I actually really like Angelica. Her voice could’ve been stronger but her acting was pretty spot on.
You commenters DO realise that this is a student-directed high school production, right?! Of course they don't have the budget or talent pool of a Broadway show! And stop going on about the costumes as though the performance hinges on the colour of Peggy's dress.
I think all the performers did a fantastic job putting their own spin on the characters and choreography. It felt really fresh and energised, whilst true to the spirit of the song! Well done!

The Schuyler Sisters is a hard song to sing, and I'm rather impressed! It may not be the best performance, but it's a humorous and engaging take on the song. Hats off to the choreographer!

Why is everyone here complaining about there voices or dresses, like there high schoolers, they don't have proper Broadway budget or practice. Plus they sound really nice I'm my ears.

I liked the ending when they all sang together. It was pretty good. They start was good too.
I think Eliza’s actress and Burr’s actor were the only ones who never fell flat on their notes. Angelica’s actor sang nicely at the “whoa-oh” (you know, with the “hey, hey, hey”s) but I think her singing fell flat sometimes. But doesn’t it happen to every singer? Especially at a high-school level. They also needed to harmonize their notes in a better way, but for high schoolers, they did pretty well, right? I did enjoy it. And they didn’t get much rehearsal either.
It’s crazy considering the person who was playing Eliza is typing in the comments and she said she had strep throat.

This in another great example of the cast working together as a team to perform the number. If you think about it, Hamilton the show was only about 1 year old when this was performed so it's a brave number to attempt but once again they pull it off. Great singing and then energetic dancing while singing - that's not easy - great job and congratulations to all involved :)

Thanks! If we had been given more time before the show, it could've been a LOT better. I was crazy sick, the dresses weren't done, and the harmonies we only sang through together a few times in rehearsals:(

Thanks! It’s been years since I’ve watched or read the comments on this but I rediscovered this today and it was strange to walk down memory lane. I wish I still sung like this but I’ve lost my voice since then, and this show is one giant painful memory anyway😂 the nice comments make it a little easier to look back tho.

Kookoogoogoo Fortnite No, it’s not, but I half wish it was. I attempted s**cide after this show because of how half the kids in this cast plus two of the the directors were treating me, and one of the teachers was sexually harassing me. It was awful, but seeing some people enjoy our meager performances or saying that we did an okay job makes it easier to not just completed resent the whole thing. Like....it reminds me that there was something I still managed to do, despite the suffering, I guess? Idek😫

Santa Barbara High School, and the directors didnt; someone illegally transcribed it, I dunno how tf they got away with it. I was Eliza here and honestly it was just so painful to do, we only rehearsed it three times and I was getting bullied so badly(I was the only one the directs didnt cast based on favoritism), not to mention the teacher directing the music for this show was sexually harassing me. I HOPE your school isn’t like our was back then, I really hope the SBHS theatre department has since changed but I honestly doubt it.😣

public high schools aren't funded enough to buy new costumes all the time. Especially for shows that don't fall under Fall or Spring musical.
Highschools most likely don't have the budget to just get new dresses whenever they want. This is probably what they had.

What's really bothering me is the drums tbf, the stuff on stage is perfectly fine. The drums though, the guy is playing the same basic pattern all throughout without any accents and the fills are bland. Some are just plain wrong, which is sad cause the rest (synth, bass, etc.) are on point.

They were all dancing to to to much. In the musical, the choreography was made so the singer didn't have to move as much, but it still looked like everyone was dancing. All these high school musicals have the main singers dancing to much and their singing gets degraded a lotttt

TO EVERYONE SAYING THIS WAS BAD: You have NO idea, it was so much worse actually going through the process of rehearsing and preforming this. Honestly watching this back four years later just makes me laugh in the most tragic way. Music of the Night(which is what this is from, it was a student-produced and directed variety show thing) was never about displaying talent, it was so blatantly just student favoritism, and I feel so sad that so many other incredibly talented students in this show never got a spotlight all because they weren’t popular or the student directors didn’t like them. For context, I was Eliza in this; I’ve since lost my voice and my love of participating in theatre as a result of my experiences, and I can’t look at my time in the SBHS theatre program through rose-tinted glasses anymore. The only reason I got cast as Eliza for this is because I was friends with one of the directors and I could sing pretty solidly back then. The official shows had great quality and MOTNs were always a little more rough around the edges, but I was one of many kids getting ruthlessly bullied here, with NO intervention from any teachers or other students; in my case, it was so bad that I attempted suicide not long after this fucking show. I survived, thank FUCKING GOD, but it didn’t make shit better- Hell, I even did *another* show here in a pathetic attempt to try and salvage my high school experience. I was getting sexually harassed by this UCSB professor they brought in to take care of the music direction on most of the shows(I don’t know if he’s since been fired or if he’s still being brought in by the guy who runs the department), and no one actually gave a rat’s ass who knew or saw; someone had actually started a rumor about it and destroyed my reputation among the student body, as well as my dignity and confidence at the time(I’m still struggling with it, honestly, four fucking years later, it was that fucking bad). The teacher who ran the department did little, if not nothing at all, to mitigate the way students treated each other, and it was impossible for him to have not known- as long as the shows were good quality and things ran, he didn’t seem to care. While I’m proud of the shows I was in here because of how well they came together, I can’t condone any of how ANY of it happened. I hope the kids going through the SBHS theatre department now have better guidance and a safer environment, because fuck the chaos and the pain that I and so many other students had to go through here. Fuck MOTN, I’m glad I’m done with that place, that I can wash my hands of it, and that I’m an adult now, even if I have to go to therapy for the rest of my life because of what I went through here. F u c k.
And for the record, I agree; we should’ve rehearsed it more and it shouldn’t have been cast based on the directors’ favorites. Hell, they shouldn’t have done it at all because they didn’t even buy the rights to the music, they had someone transcribe it. ‘Nuff said.

This preformence could've been better. The dresses were not realistic at all. They looked like something for dress up and not the Schuyler sisters. Eliza also doesn't just sing "Eliza" but she says it a little longer. I don't mean to be critical but this not worth watching here
