I am coloring for years, picked up drawing a while back after 30 years. Just got the faber castell pastel pencils. I so love your tutorials, amazing, thank you so much.
Of all the videos I've watched on RUclips for art, yours is the most realistic and beautiful . Your explanations were clear and precise . Thank you so much for taking the time to help others with your talent .
Green eyes can be tricky. I have thoroughly enjoyed your tutorials even though I love painting wc, pastels, colored pencils and acrylics. Your explanations are spot on and examples teach far more than words. Thank you for you dedication to the arts and for teaching me the trade.🤗
You're right, they are stunning. Great in fact! I've just started with pastel pencils and I'm learning so much from your posts. Keep going you're terrific! Thank you so much for sharing your talent. Patti
Hi Collin, thank you for this great lesson ...I’ve been listening to other videos and without a doubt your delivery , voice, and instructions are phenomenal and so captivating to the student. I would appreciate if you can mention the type of pencils and brand name you usually use for achieving the results ...would I find it in the US. Thanks again!
The pastel pencils I used in the video are called ‘Pitt’ and are made by Faber-Castell, you should be able to find them in the US, thank you for your kind feedback.
This is truly amazing and incredibly helpful. Especially since you've zoomed in to show the details perfectly. But can I ask, what kind of paper have you been using? I have all the tools but I need to make sure which paper type I shall use. Thanks!
Atenciosamente Colin.
Hey Sir this is well done! Really awesome! May i ask if blending is essential in pastel color pencils drawing like how we often did with graphite? Or rather, is paper stump / tissue papers an ideal choice to replace the color shaper? Also, are colored papers a better choice compared to pure white papers? Thank you, and really nice work there !!
Thank you for your kind comments. To produce the kind of image like this blending is essential and although a paper blender will blend the pastel somewhat similar to the colour shaper I used here it is not as effective. Best regards Colin.
this was a really helpful video. thanks a lot! can you please tell me if any regular paper can be used for pastel pencil drawings or only specific one has to be used
Thank you for your feedback. The lighter mid tones are used as a foundation for the brows then the dark Browns are added on top, this maintains the overall harmony of the subject.
I am enrolling in your full course. Will my Stabilo Carbothellos colors be close enough? I only bought them 2 months ago and do not want to invest iin another set if I dont have to. Thanks, Colin.
TerrieJ DimestoreDivaTV They will be fine, I started off with Carb-Othello pastel pencils before switching to Faber-Castell. I guarantee you will enjoy our courses.
Thank you for this, I really enjoy drawing portraits however have great difficulty with the outlines of everything showing and obviously taking any realism out of the picture. I am starting to draw again and have just bought some pastel pencils as I am wanting to draw a portrait of my sisters baby son as a birthday present for her. I hope I will be able to learn from your tutorials and be able to overcome this issue I have. Its nice to hear a familiar accent on youtube rather than always American.
Thanks, very quick reply before i had finished this video, it did say .co.UK at the end :) I was born in Australia but the rest of my family and relations were born in the UK
Colin Bradley Art I am just wondering do you have other tutorials relating to this particular picture? as im off to bed, (midnight) I have a quick look at your videos but I couldn't see any relating to this one?
MaZEEZaM We do have a 4 part course, you can sign up to receive it via email here: www.colinbradleyart.co.uk/home/portrait-course - the course could take up to an hour to come through. You would have already done the eyes but each part is emailed to you
Shanice Smith I use a blade rather than a pencil sharpener this allows me to get a sharp tip but still have a more solid base, it is rare that I break my points this way.

I was just reading your story on your website and it really annoyed me that your art teacher criticized you.I did an art course and the teacher told me my drawings were terrible and I stopped drawing for about three years because I had lost my confidence.I hope your teacher got to see you become a success.
Hi Noel, Over the years I have heard so many story's like yours, thank goodness like me you ignored what these silly people said and have made good. Best regards Colin.
