Very good stuff. I'm most impressed how the drummer is chewing gum while playing. I'm often tapping rhythms on my table during breakfast, get lost in the rhythm and then notice the soggy bread that's been in my mouth for the past 5 minutes.
I could say "keep practicing", but I don't think that's what's missing... There is an inanimate essence that Eric (Dolphy), Blue (Mitchell) , Hank (Mobley) and Larry (Young) possessed that was devoid of thought: it...just...IS. Cannonball (Adderley) once mentioned it as "a fact of life" and not "a state of mind".
