This is the most important video I have ever seen as an MTGA player, I’ve seen ppl mention something like this in passing but I have never seen it before. Does this apply to drafting as well? Do rate or mythic rare cards drafted in excess also help with the vault? What about commons and u commons drafted? How do they affect the vault?
Drafting applies the exact same way; commons and uncommons you draft that you already own 4 of go into your vault progress, while rares and mythics you draft and already own 4 of turn into 20 or 40 gems respectively.
@@Silenceavertedcost of those decks in the store are prorated based on what cards you already own. If you have the cards, buying the deck won’t give you any extra copies
@@Silenceavertedthe vault is a huge ripoff. When arena was just released there was no system for extra card then people got mad they introduced the vault people hated it because it gives so little value they hid it for a long time and then they turned it visible again once people forgot.
Additional tip: refine your search by selecting for cards you have exactly 3 copies of, so your search returns only cards you need one copy of to complete the set of four.

I feel like this doesn't work unless you have tons and tons of common/uncommon wildcards, which I never do. I use them all to build (or at least try to build) decks. On one hand, I play BO3 Explorer exclusively, so these cards will never rotate, but on the other hand, I wish I could build more decks, and as you mentioned in the video, rares/mythics are hands-down your biggest obstacle to that in Arena (ESPECIALLY rare lands). Also, I am an awful drafter, I'm F2P with no real desire to spend money on the game, and I'm barely on Arena in the first place (pretty much BECAUSE of to the inability to build the decks I want). I'm glad you're "hacking" Arena's terrible economy like this, and that you're encouraging others (with the means) to do so as well, because with a game economy THIS bad, you just about need to milk it for all it's worth. IDK why I even commented this, it's not like this comment will change anything, but I just felt like venting lol
For someone who draft a lot, I'll craft first the card I'm pretty sure I'll draft a lot (remove all, unco bombs, best commons) to maximise the Vault ! What a great tip

If this were like any other digital TCG we could just decraft, but whatever. I'm glad you managed to find a cool method like this when the game is being so anti-consumer.
I am sure people know this as well but you can also get to your collection by: 1. Selecting Decks at your home screen. 2. Then selecting Collection in the bottom left. It's a small thing but it gives you a better view of your collection since it doesn't have the deck window.
Very good advice, especially well-timed for Foundations since this is gonna be on standard for a long time, so people will be able to get their return on their vault while building up a collection that will last. \o/
I haven't done the math, but it may also be wise to just open Foundations for the next 5 years and complete the set as much as possible. You get fewer rares and mythics because of no golden packs, but you'll end up with a lot of playsets, which gives you wildcards instead of opening bulk rares in packs from new sets
@@thespanishinquisiton8306 You can get set completion in about a month of drafting(excluding mythics, those you usually end up having to use wildcards on), no need to keep opening it after that. This is not intensive drafting either, you could get it much earlier if you really grind it.
id recommend that you save the packs you received from wins/rank ups until after the 2nd week when wuick draft for a new set is released. saving the gems and gold as you go then you can not only get the 4x of commons and uncommons but also every drafted pack you open progresses your wild card counter too this way youre opening the packs with as much possible chances of filling your vault. if youre good at drafting then you should be able to stay as close to free to play as possible...ive managed to complete 99% of every set on arena simply by doing things this way i think ive got about 75$ total invested into arena across 6 years 😊
So if I’ve only purchased the $4.99 deal and have about 98% of all the main sets (minus Alchemy) this means I’m lying too? If you draft well and win 60% and break even, you don’t have to spend money to build your collection.

They should implement a system where you can just trade commons and uncommons for rares and mythics. Like for example spend 20 common wildcards to get 1 rare or 2 etc
You can add the cards into your "deck" before crafting them then hit the Craft All button at the bottom right when everything you wanna craft is in your deck
I am free to play. I have Wilds of Eldrain almost done. I have all x4 of commons, uncommons, and mythics. I buy the mythic packs to get 40 gems per 1300 gold and vault progress at the same time. I recommend trying it with a set you really like drafting and spamming the heck out of drafts when it comes up.

Each time you enter, you get a 'new' deck made from two sets that each contain 11 actual cards and the rest of the 40 filled with basics. Moreover, there are a limited set of choices possible, so it's entirely possible to get a given option four times, but the big point is that it lets you get 22 cards for the price of a single pack, filling your common slots very quickly. You don't even need to play the deck, selecting it and resigning to reset the button for a new deck still gives you the cards.
Good tip, but it's sad that we have to resort to this in the first place. Wotc and their extreme greed caused me to stop spending any real money on this game. I can't imagine what it's like for a new person entering the game, either spend a shit load of cash to be able to play the decks you want, or grind away with the shitty rewards.
This works for a couple of new set openings and then you deplete the common and uncommon wildcards and that issue is only going to accelerate next year with 6-7 Arena sets a year! I play Brawl so I only need 1 of each new card!

one thing that either I missed or is isn't mentioned by this video: There's also a new set of "New Player" decks being given out in Arena that will also give a lot of the commons and uncommons from the set for free. good idea to grab those as well before spending the wildcards to maximize this trick further
If you could have importable common/uncommon deck lists for the next set that would be clutch. I just tried to import every single common but MTGA won't allow it since it's over 250 cards.
I think the only problem with this for someone who is mostly interested in standard, is that Arena still shows the Jumpstart (I think it's called) stuff still. I currently have 74/80 commons, yet when I go to look at what commons I don't have, there are about 20. Anyway around that? Or to specify Foundations only?

so I been playing occasionally from a year now, I haven't crafted anything yet and I have 91 common and 100 uncommon wild cards, is it worth it to do this with this numbers? I algo have 47 rares and 17 mythics and with Foundations I think I want to start playing more and star discovering constructed (because I've been just playing with starter decks)
This is a good tip but it seems damn unrewarding to trade a bunch of common and uncommon wildcards for a slightly better rate at a tiny amount of rare and mythic wildcards. I wish the vault had just a little bit more to it.

Any pack works. The goal is to fill up the Vault as quick as possible and as many times as possible. The Vault only builds up when you obtain cards that you already own 4 copies of. That being said, I honestly don't think this is a good way to get Rare or Mythic WCs. Unfortunately, the Vault gives very little reward for how long it takes to build up. You see he spent hundreds of Un/Common WCs just to get 2 Rares and 1 Mythic, which is a terrible rate. And he already had the Vault at 61%, so you'd need even more than that. The irony is that you run the risk of not being able to build a deck due to not having enough Un/Commons to spend, as they're still the bulk of most decks.😅
If only they would just let us convert wild cards into higher up by Sacing a handful of one like 10 commons for 1 uncommon or 10 uncommon to rare I'd probably wanna play more mtga if they did but wotc is too greedy to do something like that
The advice is generally solid, but the timing of the video is incredibly unfortunate, since the Foundations is probably the worst set ever to start doing this. There are a lot of commons and uncommons in the beginner box and starting collection that are not playable in constructed formats and also not present in both draft and store packs. Since there is no good way to tell what's what in the Arena client, you need to do your own research on what you actually need to craft instead of just crafting whatever.

I've been doing this since they started the vault system.
They need to give us a "craft all" button for doing this. Takes so much time. Also need the ability to select and delete multiple decks at once

Of course MTG Arena has a trading system. You can trade hundreds and hundreds of common and uncommon wildcards for 2 RARES AND A MYTHIC
