THANK YOU, PASTOR SKIP HEITZIG, FOR ALL THE PRECIOUS TEACHING OF GOD'S WORD. IT HAS STEADIED MY FAITH, STREGTHENED ME AS I FACE VARIOUS CHALLENGES IN THIS SEASON. IT IS 2024, AND I HAVE LEARNT TO STAY FOCUSED ON GOD AND NOT LOOK AT MY TROUBLES... GOD BLESS YOUR MINISTRY AND ANOINT YOUR GIFT OF TEACHING.
Wow..this was 2017 and it still blesses listeners like me. I'm 52 years old now but I actually started listening to Ptr Skip's bible study when I was a teenager while riding a transportation in the Philippines called Jeepneys or small buses on my portable transistor AM radio while on my way to school. Never fell asleep while listening to you Ptr Skip and never fell off the jeepney while listening. LOL
Listen to Pastor Skip Heitzig from MegaChurch Calvary Chapel (who boasts about going "indepth" and "verse by verse" in Bible study @38-39min mark) TOTALLY IGNORE the importance the Feast of Unleavened Bread (Acts20:6) AND the Feast of Shavuot/Pentecost (Acts20:16) when interpreting Acts20:7! He does NOT tell everyone that in the Greek vs.7 reads "Mia Ton Sabbaton" or "first of Sabbaths' (notice the word "day" is NOT in the Greek!). Why is this important? Because Acts 20:7 is referring to the FIRST SABBATH IN A SERIES OF 7 SABBATHS IN WHAT IS CALLED THE "COUNTING OF THE OMER" (See Lev.23:10-16) WHICH BEGAN ON THE FIRST SABBATH AFTER FIRSTFRUITS, WHICH IS IN THE WEEK OF UNLEAVENED BREAD (vs.6) AND CULMINATES ON PENTE(50)COST, OR SHAVUOT FIFTY DAYS LATER (vs.16)! 7 SABBATHS × 7=49 DAYS +1=50 Days=Pentcost/Shavuot! So, what Acts 20:7 is REALLY saying is that it was the FIRST SABBATH IN A SERIES OF SEVEN SABBATHS that Rav Sha'ul (aka Apostle Paul) and the disciples had gathered together to "break bread", a fellowship meal. This is about 25 years AFTER the Ascension of Yeshua HaMashiach and what are they still doing? They are not only keeping the 7th Day Sabbath, but they are keeping the Feasts as well (Heb. Moedim/Appointed Times)! Just like Yeshua did. And as far as Paul and the disciples commemorating the resurrection on the "first day of the week", Mt.28:1,2 indicate from the Greek that the resurrection took place "at the end of the Sabbath as it began to DUSK (Gk. Epiphoskos) TOWARD the first day of the week..." when there was a great earthquake (vs.2). That's the resurrection! And counting backwards to a Wednesday crucifixion you get the FULL 3 Days AND 3 Nights just like Yeshua said! Whereas the "Good Friday" scenario with a Sunday morning sunrise service barely meets half the time requirement. Anyway, your not likely to hear this in Sunday Church and certainly not at Skip Heitzig's Calvary Chapel. May YHWH have mercy on his soul!

Pastor Skip thank you for this Expound series. I think your teaching is greatly enhanced by adding descriptions of cultural history and places! It really would behoove Bible teachers to take more time to research and describe the context of Acts, etc. Thumbs way up!!

I enjoy your thorough studies of each book and especially the historical background and context. I think maps would be helpful in this study so we can get an idea of the movement: it’s difficult in reading to get the full sense of relocation. As I read about Paul’s missionary journeys I like to label maps based on chapters. Much love in Christ from the great state of Alabama :)

I am enjoying this series. Pastor Skip knows a lot about the ancient culture of this context. I'd love to know more. Where can we find the resources he's used to understand these passages?

I love skips teaching, but the interruptions with all the ads starts to make it very difficult to listen to. Having to hit skip ad every 5 -6 minutes is a little too much
Listen to Pastor Skip Heitzig from MegaChurch Calvary Chapel (who boasts about going "indepth" and "verse by verse" in Bible study @38-39min mark) TOTALLY IGNORE the importance the Feast of Unleavened Bread (Acts20:6) AND the Feast of Shavuot/Pentecost (Acts20:16) when interpreting Acts20:7! Paul doesn't call God's commandments "weak" and "beggarly". That would be blasphemy. Paul calls *man's additions* to God's commandments "weak" and "beggarly". Don't read Colossians 2:16 by itself. You need to read the entire chapter (the whole book, actually!) to understand the context of Paul's comments. He says a few verses earlier and again a few verses later that he's talking about man-made doctrines and *not* the commandments of God.
Listening in 2024! Going through the Bible with Ps. Skip.
LOL
😊❤
Skip may God bless you. The way you teach is profound you have helped me a lot😊. May the Lord continue to teach you concerning His word.

Thank you for publishing these fantastic expository studies. My go to for studying Acts right now. Awesome resource!

Thanks Skip!

Powerful.
I am enjoying this series. Pastor Skip knows a lot about the ancient culture of this context. I'd love to know more. Where can we find the resources he's used to understand these passages?

I wonder if those men had to travel with to protect the gold and silver that their churches were donating
I love skips teaching, but the interruptions with all the ads starts to make it very difficult to listen to. Having to hit skip ad every 5 -6 minutes is a little too much
