  • A Tribute to "Singing The Dolphin Through" by Manfred Mann's Earth Band
As a devoted fan since 1977, my journey with Manfred Mann’s Earth Band began with the album Solar Fire. That first purchase was the start of a deep connection with their music, leading me to collect everything they ever produced. Each album offers something unique, but one track that has always resonated with me is "Singing The Dolphin Through."
Released in 1976 on their seventh album, The Roaring Silence, this song is a hidden gem that takes listeners on a mystical journey across the seas, both literal and metaphorical. While the album is best known for the massive hit single, their exceptional cover of Bruce Springsteen's "Blinded By The Light," The Roaring Silence holds many treasures, and "Singing The Dolphin Through" is certainly one of them.
The song's poetic lyrics and serene melody invite reflection and evoke images of a calm, yet poignant voyage. The recurring refrain, “Singing the dolphin through still waters,” emphasizes a sense of calmness amidst uncertainty, symbolizing a journey towards peace and freedom.
Over the years, I’ve grown to appreciate many of their tracks, but "Singing The Dolphin Through" remains a favorite. It's one of those songs you can listen to over and over, discovering new layers of meaning each time. Manfred Mann’s Earth Band has given us a vast musical legacy, and this track, with its lyrical richness and soothing melody, is for me, one of their finest moments.
