TLDW; it's a 25-50W resistor in series..and a couple Y connectors if you care to watch the voltage drop

Can you recommend a way on how to determine what kind of resistor I need based on the amperage of my battery?

Which resistor should I use to drain a 3.7v Li-Ion pack (60Ah pack). How long will it take to drain the pack down from about 4.17v to 3.57V (approx)? Thanks for the video!

I'm trying to do the exact same thing with the exact same volts lol How did you do it?

how to discharge a Tesla Model S battery, Sir?

Just connect any capacitor or battery to a load like a multimeter. After that you can just walk away and forget about it.
*IMPORTANT!!!* Make sure the contacts do not short *BEFORE* leaving the setup.

@@WhyAreAllTheHandlesTaken415 That won't be an efficient practice especially with as the OP said a Tesla battery. Internal resistance of a multimeter in the arrangement you're talking about is typically 10M Ohm that would take a crazy long time. High power loads are the most efficient method but you have to make sure it's not so much to overload the battery as that can potentially put a battery into thermal runaway if it heats up too much.

@@TheLenstaa oh. If we are talking about capacitors that need discharging I would say this might be a method.
Electricity passes through the multimeter. A capacitor should discharge when left with the setup (power source (capacitor) to multimeter)
By the way this only works with low capacity capacitors. If we hook it up to high capacity capacitors it would take a crazy long time.

Sweet Baby Jesus you are infecting people with eye cancer.
A Tesla battery is 22V I believe so you’ll probably want some large resistors, 200W or more. A 2R will give you 11amps times 22 volts so minimum a 300 watt resistor and it’s gonna take a long time to drain a 5kwh battery.
Scale my idea up. Series or parallel resistors to get desired amp draw.
Or hook up a 22V inverter and plug in a heat gun or a little heater/fan. They can pull over 1000 watts no problem. 5kwh battery with a 2kw load means come back 2’ish hours later. Make sure you have low voltage cutoff correctly set up or put some form of protection in place for a 6S pack to not go too far below 18V
If none of this makes sense stop and list your battery on eBay before you start a fire.
