What a triumph for Nanette Fabray. No wonder the Met wanted her to sing opera.

    What a voice on Fabray.

She studied with teachers at Juilliard and had a lovely trained voice. Sid Caesar always let the members of his ensemble team let their talents shine

Sid with that mustache occasionally looks like Gleason's Reggie Van Gleason the 3rd, especially when getting a little cross-eyed. Fun silly playful sketch...and her singing is nothing to, er, sneeze about...(but seriously, she DID have quite the voice!)

I love how Sid has a quick look back to see where the set is in relation to where he's standing, and then he take an ever so slight step back from Nanette to get ready for her arm swinging back.

Thank you for posting !! This is one of my favorites. According to an interview that Nanette Fabray did some time ago, this was her favorite sketch on Caesar's Hour. The sketch was put in as a filler with little time to rehearse. Other interesting background discussion on this sketch can be found @ ruclips.net/video/bcJkEApJCxk/видео.html beginning @ the 9:42 mark.

My goodness, this is WONDERFUL! There are more belly laughs in these six minutes than in some alleged comedy feature films. If Sid and Imogene were the team supreme, Sid and Nanette weren't chopped liver. Their slaphappy pas de deux is exquisite. I'd love to know if some of the business (like Sid resticking his moustache upside down) was adlibbed. Nanette's reaction to THAT caused me to spit take my coffee at my screen.
    Many thanks for sharing!

This sketch is some of the best evidence I can point to that Nanette Fabray was underappreciated! [wgw]

According to Nanette, she wasn't expecting to see Sid's moustache upside down! --kjh

@@sidcaesaryourshowofshowsca2250 I kind of thought so. But what a pro she was.

Well, Nanette was never under-appreciated by me. She and Coca were both great as far as I was/am concerned. Different but equally effective in what they did. He sure knew how to find and showcase talent.

I don't know what it is, but something about her voice at 3:11 makes me want to listen again.
