Social media has fostered and nurtured a degree of audacity, ignorance, and lack of reason that’s concerning. People, who are filled with imperfection (as all of us are) hide behind their screens and computers and spread nothing but negativity (which is another reason your content is always refreshing), and the very bullets that they send out, they wouldn’t be able to take them with a bulletproof vest on. The very fact that these two are still here with us, old enough to show signs of aging, is a blessing. Might I add-if we’re fortunate enough, *all* of us will get older/age, so I will never understand the scrutiny people can have for celebrities doing the same.

True. I had an older lady say that to me a few years ago. She was in her late 80's. She shared a story of a friend from her youth who died in their teens. She said she never got a chance to get old and grey hair with us. This woman is now 94 or 95. She says God allowed her to live this long for a reason. Also says she had free parking, taxes, etc. You definitely can not get old in today's society as a woman. My dad and brother died. Two men who always took take of me. I have had periods of unemployment and then a major medical emergency. I have aged in a way that was not expected. But I can not focus on the opinions of others. To add, I started gaining weight when I was 39 approaching 40. Now close to 50, some people still expect me to look a certain way. People can be cruel and so were kids during childhood. I have to stay focused on me and not care about their opinions. I saw Anne Marie Johnson (in the heat of the night and what's happening now) on So Help Me Todd. People talked about how bad she aged. It seems women simply can not age.

And there's nothing that miserable, angry people like to do better than trying to make others feel as bad as they do. I've watched social media bring the whole world down to a lower level, and it's only getting worse. All we can do is hang on to the glimpses of positivity that we get from content like this video.

I was deeply sad, and then I got a call from one of my friends that her older brother had passed away in his sleep the night before. He was two DAYS older than me. And in that moment, I realized how truly “adolescent” 31 years was. Each year, right before my birthday, I take the time to remember him and thank God for letting me see another year . Now, I have to calculate my age when someone asks me. I want to keep calculating as long as I can and every wrinkle, ache, and pain let’s me know I’m still kicking.

I looked forward to “getting old” with my sister. I’m 47 now about to be 48(God-Willing) next month. I imagined us acting up, poking fun at each others head full of silver, traveling in our retirement…but you know what. She died suddenly in Nov. 2020 at the age of 42. What I wouldn’t give to have another second with her in this physical reality. People really are already in the matrix(meta/social media). Willfully ignorant. Abnormally mean. Following the crowd. And we’re in a society that does not honor wisdom & aging and “pedestalizes” youth. I too learned my lesson in my early 20s and never looked at it the same. EJ, this quote sums up what I think…”Let the refining and improving of your own life keep you so busy that you have little time to criticize others.”

She’s a triple threat who has built a very impressive singing and acting career. She still looks beautiful and so does Tisha Campbell, who has also built an impressive career. People really act like the opposite of aging is not dying. If you age, you are winning. If you don't age, you are dead. Life is for the living, so enjoy your life!

Momma always said, "If you don't live to get old, you die young." I'm all about that aging, so much so I've been pissed for years that all of my siblings have their grey hair and I don't. They've had theirs since they were mid 20s, I AM 37 and not one grey hair in sight. Yes...I'm salty. However, let these people age in peace. Folks are so miserable and mean.

I surpassed my mom, sister, female cousins, my little brother, some of my friends in age… I wish they were here… so getting older is a privilege. This is why I’m barely on social media. I can see why some people don’t engage in social media.

Good for them for not going under the knife and embracing their age. I mean if that’s your thing, go for it but it is absolutely nothing wrong with just being natural and aging.

I think insecure people like to tear others down. It gives them comfort. Unfortunately, an “aging” woman is an “easy target”.
Getting old is a blessing. Looking older because of it is just a part of the blessing. I wish we could all embrace that reality more, instead of fighting it.
    Great video.

This is sad. There are so many people half these ladies' ages that didn't even wake up this morning and this is all people can focus on?

I have been so bothered by many of the comments that I have been reading that are just downright MEAN! I hate when people use social media platforms to ATTACK others. As childlike as this might sound, I think of Thumper from the movie Bambi and the line that said, " If you don't have something nice to say then don't say nothing at all." I also think of a sermon done by the late Charles Stanley, that really had a great impact on me and he explained that before we TALK about someone we need to use the acronym " T. H. I. N. K.! We need to ask ourselves is what we are about to say, True, is it Helpful, Is is Important, Is it Necessary, and is it Kind? We would all talk less if we used this method of deciding what to say and what not to say.. Thank you so much for addressing this issue. Ms EJ.

I HATE when people say that celebrities or people on the internet need to have thick skin so people can talk to them any kind of way. People existing in public does not give other people the right to treat them badly or say awful things to them as though fame makes people not human anymore.

I completely agree with you. It is disgusting how people attacked these beautiful women for aging. At a very young age I once told my grandmother that I never wanted to get old. She told me that the only alternative to growing old is to die young. From then on, I realized how much of a blessing it is to have the opportunity to grow old. So many of us didn’t and won’t have that luxury.

Society is trash, and social media is the sludge that gets left behind. Aging is perfectly normal. It's absolutely beautiful and captivating. Everyone should want to aspire to get old. It's a privilege. I turn 45 next week and I've never been more confident, more compassionate, and loving in my skin as I have as I have gotten older. It's a blessing every single day to still have my parents alive and well. To be able to get out of bed on my own, and I respect my body in a way I never did when I was younger. I appreciate this beautiful process. Tisha Campbell and Vanessa Williams have aged as they should. I'm happy they are still here. We need to be kinder to ourselves and each other. Celebs are humans with a lot more money. That's it. Youth is a beautiful time, but so, equally is getting older.
