How did you know to go after the cdi box? no spark? common problem? just went for it? really cool you got it going, could the oven trick ruin a good one? thinking about getting one, looks like the boxes go for 500 used, must be $1,00 new, huh .. haven't checked u=yet. Great job, thanks for putting some info out and glad it worked for you! Cheers!
I didn’t have any spark and only thing left was CDI box. I did my research and found it was common problem with that model. Then I just went for it. :)
Good Morning . i'm from brazil, i have a jet ski kawasaki zxi 750, it doesn't work anymore. it's like it doesn't have a battery, but it does and it's all right with it, the panel doesn't work. the trim does not work. and the engine is not. the battery cables and fuses have already been checked, they are all right, can you give me any hint of what might be? thanks
Hey where are you at with cleaning the carburetors on this? I just purchased one and never worked on a marine engine before and would like some guidance in working on the carbs because I think my jet ski is starving for fuel
I have two questions that I hope can help with. I had problems with my solenoid so I changed it out. I hooked it up backwards for a few seconds...😩 and I'm not sure what i fried but all the electronics went out on the trim so it wouldn't start. I conected a push start button directly to the solenoid and it starts up. what could I have fried???
Hey I’m trying to fix an 01 stx di 1100 and I’m stumped.. I have good spark on the middle cylinder and inconsistent spark on the other two.. most of the time it’s not there I took apart the connector that goes to coil wires and unplugged the middle cylinder.. then of course had nothing on the middle cylinder but the other two had good spark. Maybe you or someone that watches this video has seen this problem I’m wondering if it could be related to the computer.. Spark plugs wires crank position sensor and coil’s all tested good
My second question would be when it's running I have a slow charge moving up a .10 every second or so. Is this normal or where can I start checking? I have a zxi 900 1996 and would appreciate any help.
if CDI has BGA chips then could be caused by overheating and losing the contact to the pcb board. Same fix works for console CPU and GPU as they are bga soldered. Most of times this is temporary fix
What did you adjust the jets in the carburetor to? I rebuilt my carburetors but the low and high speed are off. I can't go full throttle off the hole, it bogs out if I do.
Were you upset when Anthony left you alone at smosh? jp jp GREAT video. There are many of these "trailered treasures" to be had. :) That ski is in amazing condition.
Hi I have the same type of wave runner after hopping some big waves last year I Lost the trim control and none of my gauges are working but it still runs great any ideas?
+Arcenio Pizana I haven't gotten to work on that part yet. But, my guages are a bit out of wack too. My fuel sensor needs work inside the tank, you can tell it wants to read on the guage, but the floats on the sensor are messed up. The rpm guage funcitons fine, but the speedometer doesn't work. Also my trim control works on the handlebars, but the trim motor is stuck on mine after I finished the season last year.
What was the jet ski doing when you bought it. Have a 1999 Kawasaki stx900 that when you press the start button you will only hear a single click. Bought new battery and new starter solenoid.
You're welcome. Oddly enough I am about to replace my starter solenoid because it started clicking and not turning the starter over. I bypassed the solenoid and was able to get the starter to crank.
We're thinking it's the starter. We baked the ignitor like you suggested with no change. We'll bypass the solenoid and hook power supply to the starter and see if it's our problem for sure.
Yes, I'd say it's your solenoid. We will be installing a new starter tomorrow. That was definitely our problem. Since we last talked I bought a 2000 kawasaki 1100 stx di. It turns over, but no spark at any of the plugs. A new stator was installed and I'm thinking it's the EMM. I'll have to send it to a company in Alabama that will diagnose for free and then repair and upgrade the computer. I've got a new start/stop switch ordered and a new condenser too just in case. I'd say if it was just one plug it might be a coil but with it being all three it's probable the EMM.
That's exactly what was going on. I did some quick research and found that heating up the CDI was kind of a last resort fix. I thought it was worth a shot because I wasn't ready to drop $$$ on a new one.
I shot one, but I never edited it together. I bought a kit off of eBay to rebuild the carbs. It had all of the gaskets/seals/diaphragms. Mine were pretty clean so I didn't have to do much cleanup, mostly just teardown and reassembly.
jmink id still like to see, I’m having some trouble with my 98 I think the carbs need to be tuned/cleaned, she wants to cut out above 50% throttle. I’m hesitant to order the rebuild kit because I was told they’re very difficult to work on. I’ve worked on car/motorcycle carbs
So kind of a dumb question, but when you work on these you're completely limited to reaching into the engine compartment from the provided holes under the seat? Thanks!
Well here's the short version: bought a seemingly mint 2002 ZXi 1100 with perfect compression, clean hull, no leaks (water or anything else), always garaged, 1-owner, never left in water, always fresh-water ski, trim worked, 135 psi compression in all cyls...seemed like the perfect ZXi. Guy told me he spilled a bit of oil when filling up injection oil tank. He seeded honest, but after a couple of rides there was quite a bit more in there. I cleaned ALL of it out, and wiped the surface clean. 12 hours later (sitting on the trailer not running) there's a small puddle. What do you think?
I only paid a few hundred dollars for it. I will say I wasn't comfortable, and I'm still not, paying thousands for something like this. Mainly because used Jet Ski's are notorious for needing parts replaced.
i have a 95 kawasaki 750 sts,it will start with starting fluid but will not stay running...any ideas?? i replace the fuel filter and sprayed carb and choke cleaner a healthy dose at that .. after doing that it fired right up on its own so we headed to the lake after warming up it went right back to its original problem... HELP....ANY IDEAS??
I rebuilt my corroborators because of the same issue. I bought a kit off of eBay to rebuild all three of mine with new gaskets and needle valves. After this it would start without spray and even idle.
98 kawasaki stx 900 como se instala la cabesa donde van los pistones se me mueben mucho y no puedo poner los pistones junto con los anillos si alguien esta en linea y me puede ayudar se los boy agradecer muchisimo muchas gracias

@@jmink Thanks, that helps 🙂

Ive got no spark at all. New cdi, new stator, new wires, just nothing to the spark plugs crazy what did you find out?
Interesting... I would have never thought of doing that. I will give that a whirl...
My second question would be when it's running I have a slow charge moving up a .10 every second or so. Is this normal or where can I start checking? I have a zxi 900 1996 and would appreciate any help.
Having some issue with my 97 stx 1100. Can find where to reconnect some ignition box wiring. Could you offer some guidance?
I had one, loved it.

Cuanto tiempo se deja en el horno?
Idk if there is a way to private message on RUclips but I would really like to speak with you about my 98 kawi 900
What did you adjust the jets in the carburetor to? I rebuilt my carburetors but the low and high speed are off. I can't go full throttle off the hole, it bogs out if I do.
Did you ever find solution to this?

do you think this would this work for a 2000 Kawasaki 100 Stx?

The engine would turn over, but there was no spark at the spark plugs. After the CDI fix I was able to start it.
Thanks for your response.

Hey man, did it turn over but not fire? I’m going through the same problem right now.
That's exactly what was going on. I did some quick research and found that heating up the CDI was kind of a last resort fix. I thought it was worth a shot because I wasn't ready to drop $$$ on a new one.
jmink so how is the procedure done with the oven. I’ll try it
Did you make a video on rebuilding the carbs?
I shot one, but I never edited it together. I bought a kit off of eBay to rebuild the carbs. It had all of the gaskets/seals/diaphragms. Mine were pretty clean so I didn't have to do much cleanup, mostly just teardown and reassembly.

Would this work on a 1996 Kawasaki Mojave
So kind of a dumb question, but when you work on these you're completely limited to reaching into the engine compartment from the provided holes under the seat? Thanks!
+Tim Lalli sort of. You can also pull the motor. Which I've done twice.
Oh boy... hahaha
+Tim Lalli yeah not be most fun, but it depends on what you are doing. Some stuff I worked on it actually saved me time by pulling motor.

Forgot to mention: the small puddle is under the oil injection pump.
I was wondering what did you pay for that jet ski off craigslist?
I only paid a few hundred dollars for it. I will say I wasn't comfortable, and I'm still not, paying thousands for something like this. Mainly because used Jet Ski's are notorious for needing parts replaced.
