One of the better videos I have seen on the new Garmin. You displayed some of the unique features. I like how you mirrored it to your screen, so now it’s possible to bypass a computer and play just the native software. A possible cost saving strategy.
Yeah, I wanted to walk you through like every screen and not make it a review video. But, what it is really like to use it. I do love the plug and play capability. What launch monitor are you using?
Having used mine for a few days, there are numerous problems. 1. If you attach an external monitor the R50 disallows display of the flight track display; you can only see the top down "dots" display. 2. Putting, chipping and less than full swing shots do not allow detection of club data. 3. The detection is easily affected by sunlight or odd lighting conditions. 4. Garmin, in their marketing materials, implied that the 3rd party applications would work directly from the R50 rather than actually requiring a PC or tablet. Overall, this unit shows great promise but it's not a refined product at this point.
@@GolfersAuthority I am just looking to build out a simulator, and R50 is now my preferred device as it gives me the majority of what I need (face impact would be a great addition though)
It reminds me of a ipad on a 3 camera monitor. A lot of misinformation about needing a computer to play most software, was a big turn off. I went either a Square Golf and so happy. I think the return clerk is going to be busy on this one!
For 5k I think the ST+ and a desktop is the better buy for an at home sim. You’d be able to go 4K and have ST’s course play or GSPro. Or even add E6 if you want to spend a bit more. You’d also have the ST essentials sub so you’re going to get all the practice/training tools that Golftec is bringing to the ST software. The R50 looks like a great tool if your launch monitor has to pull double duty and go to the outdoor range as well as your home sim. It might be the best device for this scenario, far and away, especially when you look at the price point vs a GC3, GCQuad, or QuadMax.
I just ordered everything for my first sim. After going back and forth between R50 and ST+, I went with ST+. ST Course Play looks great, recent videos showing golftec’s training range development, and that this device will be dedicated to that sim and wont be needed on the outdoor range were the final factors. The impact cam on the R50 was a big plus, but since Im building a sim, I can add my own cameras later.
Right now it is only able to connect to Awesome Golf and GSPro but E6 is coming soon. They just did get the GSPro connection and it is still a little buggy but improving quickly. Both GSPro and Garmin seem to be working hard to get GSPro working properly with all the features and no bugs. E6 is coming but Garmin hasn't said what time frame yet. Only soon.
I think it is great, but I think there are a few things that I don't like about it. I have another video coming out about it in the next week. Right now E6 does not work. The only thing that works are GSPro and Awesome Golf.
Yeah I noticed it that happened a few times too. I don’t know if it was because of the angle I was on, the unit moving when I touched the screen, or if the touch pad is not as responsive.
I need to see it stacked up against the SkyTrak to see how accurate it actually is. I like that it has a display so if you didn’t want to hit into a projector screen or use your phone you can see your shots. 5k$ is steep for something that hasn’t proved it’s better then SkyTrak
1: Garmin golf software is really poor. They put so little into updating errors or improving interfaces. Just look at any Garmin golf forum, nothing but feedback that's totally ignored for years. 2: You still need a PC to use GSPro 3: The output from the unit is not 4k 4: Most importantly, it's not accurate. Spin and flight shape are way off. 5: It's way too bulky vs GC3/QUAD. You'd look like a right tool pulling it out at a range.
You can’t answer the question of how good it is without testing accuracy, so this is a useless review. How does it compare accuracy-wise to its direct competitors like the BLP/GC3, Uneekor Eye Mini, etc.
The hardpart is the testing process of accuracy. The BLP, EyeMini, they all take up the same space. I do have an idea that I am going to try though to test the accuracy using a ceiling mounted system. What do you use for a launch monitor?
Ok, there is NO other simulator where you can play your back woods course no one has ever heard of. 4300 courses compared to what...sorry Garmin is a cheaper subscription, by hundreds of dollars. It's the future. Sorry the trees I keep hitting don't look as realistic. I'm ok with that.

Dang that’s sick. Thx

Curious on connection with Awesome Golf. Can you have Awesome Golf on projector and still see impact video on R50 screen?
Great question. I am about to released a whole video on that very soon.
This can do a match with 2 or more players playing in sequence and keep track of everyone's score?
If you log in another person on that first screen I was showing. What are you using now?

What are you using for a monitor?
That is a cool simulator setup. Do you have a video of building that out? I particularly like the curved screen
No I don’t, I wish I had a video of how they did it. It’s pretty sick. There is. Slick below if you want to see the company. What are you using?

How accurate is the square? I want to test it out

Yeah, it is hard because at that price point it should be close to plug and play as possible. What are you using?

Whats up with the high ball speed? Its showing 185-190 with a iron
I think I had it on KM instead of miles per hour. Either that or I am Superman :)
Nice simulator set up. What are the dimensions of your curved screen?
I’ll try to find out.
What do you think of the R50? Do you feel it's worth it? Also can you use it with E6, or is it only compatible with GSpro and awesome golf?

The creek doesn’t look very responsive, many times your were having to touch it a few times before it registered?

Yeah, I have that coming too. I am going to compare it to everything. I also discovered a few things I can't wait to share.
