I can only repeat what I’ve already said: we fellow parents cannot be grateful enough for you two sharing not only the hard bits of parenting but the joy and love it also brings. I think it’s so so important to talk about those too- even if that’s not that entertaining as the mistakes and the difficult bits.

You are both so sweet guys! Mum of three here, they're all out of nappy phase already and as Rich said, now it's all about listening to them, really hearing and empathising with their emotions. Much harder than when I had two in nappies. You've got it right!

THANK YOU Lily for the comment about grand-parents already having done the whole baby thing! it doesn't get said enough. I would never just expect my mum who raised four kids to now start over and take my kids on a regular basis. I don't mean visits, trips together, the occasional overnight stay. But expecting them to give up all their well-earned free time is not fair. If they want to fine, but I know many that feel forced and end up being resentful instead of enjoying their grand-kids as they should be.

I swear people who see a man changing a diaper are more ready to think he's a gay dad than that he's just pulling his weight in a straight relationship, I hate this misogyny that expects a man would only take care of a child if a woman was not there at all

I’ve raised five children, ( I think my oldest might be older than the both of you) but I still can relate to all your experiences. I got teary-eyed when you discussed grandparents names and Rich said his mom wants to be called, Gran but you think she still looks too young. Lots of my friends are coming into that grand parenting season and wow, if you could see them. These ladies are hot! So they’re grandkids call them Mima and Glamma. Watching this video decided it for me. When my turn comes I will proudly be Grandma, just like my mom and my own grandma. Thanks for the video. 🙏🏼

That's if you get a choice! My grandkid's other grandparents got first choice, so they are Grammie & Grampie ! We are Nanny (which is what I called my Nan) and Grandpa. There is also a step-grandmother involved, so she is Grannie Deb.

    1. Omg Lily YES to dad’s getting major props for just being a dad. My husband is a stay at home dad and I work full time so I experience this all the time!
    2. Rich saying “why would you just put those jeans there instead of folding them up and putting them in the drawer” is 100% me to my husband 😂 this video made me laugh

I'm a librarian and I do storytime classes for ages 0-5 years. I also do a baby storytime for 0-17 months. We get a ton of grandparents. They seem to enjoy being with their grandkids and they make friends with the other moms/dads/nannies who bring kids to the storytime. I'm sure it's hard, but there is just so much love there.
Also I get a handful of regular dads coming to my storytime with their babies and it's great. The dads are ALWAYS engaged with their babies which is not always the case for the moms, which is interesting.

Loved this currently 20 weeks pregnant. I’m already sick of my friends only asking me about how the baby and pregnancy is going.
It also got me when you were talking about how people praise Rich for being a good day. My husband is a school teacher so the first month I’m back at work he will be on holidays. I was talking to my mum about when I was going back to work and she started saying “oh it will be good that he is baby sitting”. I was very quick to say it’s not baby sitting when it is your own child.

Kelly H I had a challenging toddler as my first but still now with a 6 year old and 3 year old I can say that nothing so far was as difficult as the first 6 months of my first baby. She cried all the time and never slept more than 16 hours a day even as a newborn. The worst tantrums were nothing compared to that.

When it comes to the second one I personally think it’s easier to have one quickly after the first. Mine are 15 months apart in age and the newborn sleepless nights, nappy changes, baby toys etc... weren’t a shock to the system. However as much as we want 3, number 3 will be 4 years or more away because 3 in nappies or not talking is a touch too much for my brain to cope with.

Both of my grandmothers' names were Ruth. So until I was 6, I thought EVERYBODY'S grandmothers were called 'Ruth'. Now, my mother in law and my mother are not similarly named, one is like, "Yes! Call me Grandma!" to my kids, and the other keeps pushing something posher sounding (for Americans) like 'Gran'. My kids are beyond babies (3 & 8) but this was still a great video. Some of your 'bickering' feels VERY familiar (packing tape, especially, whhhhy they are sleeping!!).
