Hello Dishna, sorry for late reply, I personally didn't visit this place, but I checked with one of friend in Ooty according to her their was a permit required when she last went few years ago. This permit need to be obtained from forest department office in ooty. My friend was not sure of current situation, looks like their is ease in permit.
If you can manage then go ahead, facilities wise it should not be a problem, as it's very commercialized tourist places and things are available easily. Only thing is prefer to stay in city center.

Mysore is nearest railway station, but you won't get direct trains. You need to go to Dharwad and from there you will get train to Mysore which is again 90 km from coorg. I can see there are direct overnight buses from Goa to coorg. Taking volvo bus will be economical and comfortable.

There are no self drive vehicle rental in Ooty. Local tour operators run daily buses which cover all the tourist places. If you are travelling first time then it will be cheap and best option.

I am not sure about taxi charges as I generally go by my own vehicle. Buses run by private tour operator normally offer two packages one for local sightseeing and another for out station sightseeing. You can choose them depending on time you have in hand.

I would suggest you to travel with this plan - Bangalore ->Mysore -> Ooty to Coimbatore (via bus) -> Coimbatore to Rameshwaram (via train). If you have half day extra, then step down from coimbatore to rameshwaram train at Madurai and visit famous Minakshi temple which is 1 km from Madurai station and take next train to Rameshwaram. Hello Dishna, sorry for late reply, I personally didn't visit this place, but I checked with one of friend in Ooty according to her their was a permit required when she last went few years ago. This permit need to be obtained from forest department office in ooty. My friend was not sure of current situation, looks like their is ease in permit.

Mysore is nearest railway station, but you won't get direct trains. You need to go to Dharwad and from there you will get train to Mysore which is again 90 km from coorg. I can see there are direct overnight buses from Goa to coorg. Taking volvo bus will be economical and comfortable.

July receives most rainfall, there can be extra crowd and traffic jam inside Ooty. I would suggest once you reac Ooty book a local sightseeing package from travel agent it's not very costly. This way you will enjoy more and less headache of driving in hilly traffic .

I am not sure about taxi charges as I generally go by my own vehicle. Buses run by private tour operator normally offer two packages one for local sightseeing and another for out station sightseeing. You can choose them depending on time you have in hand.

I would suggest you to travel with this plan - Bangalore ->Mysore -> Ooty to Coimbatore (via bus) -> Coimbatore to Rameshwaram (via train). If you have half day extra, then step down from coimbatore to rameshwaram train at Madurai and visit famous Minakshi temple which is 1 km from Madurai station and take next train to Rameshwaram.
