@@mikegillins4992 completely agree with you! He had 4 or 5 hits on that album.. “Loosing Control” etc. that second No Limit Album was great (Tha Last Meal). The track with P and Nate Dogg “lay Low”… he was all over 106 & Park in the winter that year. Snoop always had good albums.
People saying Snoop was disloyal to Pac but it seems Pac was disloyal to Snoop first. But we ain't gonna talk about that,. Don't get me wrong, I love Pac but you have to call a spade a spade.
The Doggfather was a good album. Two major factors contributed to it not achieving what we all thought a Snoop album should. 1. Dre was missing. 2. Makaveli dropped a week before. With that being said, it still went double platinum.
Doggystyle was not bigger than AEOM other than first week sales. AEOM sold faster overall, charted longer and produced more hits. Also, Doggystyle merely made Snoop the biggest rapper. AEOM elevated Pac to MEGASTAR status, he was the biggest artist on the planet, REGARDLESS of genre. Pac did in 96’ what Em did in 2002 before Em was a household name.
I think Pac wrote "this ain't living" for Doggfather in early 1996. Check out the lyrics on genius. Pretty clear Pac wasn't writing that for himself, but their relationship went sour after that Angie Martinez interview
He never reached out The quality of Doggy style every thing he has done after was average except tha last meal .Snoop biggest works were in the chronic ,doggy style and 2001. In some way he needs Dre to make classic hits.
Preach... I can remember that..."Key Words...The Energy".. extend the interview... Plus pac said it his self...they be watching too many movies...it's in the rap...we can go back and listen to all the music...and find all movies... more too it
Nothing but the truth! Tupac was more charismatic than Snoop. He was more articulate, and he possessed much more vast knowledge. Plain and simple, the shine gravitated towards Tupac and not Tupac to the shine. Clearly, Tupac was the better and more desired artist at that time than Snoop was. Besides, look at Snoop now: straight sell out! Tupac would be further ahead of Snoop in 2023 if he was still alive.
The one thing that I can say being of that generation, I’m three years older than Pac would’ve been, Pac out worked EVERY rapper in the game, period end of story!! All Eyez on Me the double album, Makavei, the Outlawz project, singles like Toss it Up!! Yo, dude was unstoppable in that manner, he could and did outwork every Hip Hop artist in the game. That cannot be denied, refuted, or downplayed. A 180 tracks in the space of weeks, are you serious?! Who works like that today, aaah??!!! Exactly.
I don't understand why a lot of the albums from that time were poorly mixed in comparison to All Eyez On Me & The Don Killuminati. Even the other albums from Deathrow including Tha Doggfather didn't sound as good.
Well, AEOM was mixed and engineered largely by DJ Quik, who was a musical mastermind. Makaveli didn’t have a lot of big name producers and engineers on it, but it was that way by design. Pac had just put out a polished double album and he was going for a grittier sound on DK7.
The success from The Chronic, Doggystyle and Dogg Food made them all lazy. That’s why you hear stories of them always bumping heads with 2pac in the studio because 2pac made them all get off their asses to make music again. That’s why Suge & 2pac were so close.
@@peterthegreat100 exactly 💯. Plus Suge didn't have artists riding for him or with him. First it was Dre and Tha Dogg Pound. Then as Dre stopped showing up as much DPG kept growing with new members around the Murder Was the Case time, (Tray Dee, Soopafly, LBC Crew) DJ QUIK couldn't officially sign to the label due to his contract with Priority but he had been around since 94. Then Big Jake gets killed, right as they're about to sign Pac. Suge and Pac having Diddy as a common enemy, on top of everything else just mentioned, Pac became Suges lil homie and now Suge had an artist and homie to ride for him. Pac was just getting started with Death Row. "Quick to run ship, what a dumb move Cross Death Row?? Now who u gone run to?"
Real headz know that Tha Doggfather is an absolute gem. It’s Snoops best album and he was lyrically nicer than he had ever been on that joint. Real headz love that album, but ppl wasn’t feeling it commercially
I’m a hip-hop head… That album was ABSOLUTE GARBAGE! Stop frontin like you know something everyone else didn’t. The drop off of quality and replay ability from ‘Doggy Style’ to ‘Tha Doggfather’ was tremendous. A true disappointment to follow up a classic album.
@@couptakeover ain’t nobody frontin. If you don’t know then you don’t know. Most Ppl who listen to Snoop expected a more commercial appeal especially after Doggystyle which that album wasn’t about. Like I said certain type of headz know.
The game is to be sold not told is his best joint. I only listened to dogfather because it dropped at the height of the ec wc rivalry n I wanted to hear snoop take on how the game was for him n honestly I love snoop but the album was mediocre at best and filled with subliminal pac disses . Pac came in on the interview and he was thinking in his mind 'what the hell is this wack shit'😂😂.... then was like 'yoh! yoh!.. Heron (or whoever was there) put that makaveli shit on let's listen to some real shit' , hail mary starts playing and Pac starts singing at the top of his lungs 'come with me hail mary nigga come quick see...🎶🎶" and asks someone to pass him a blunt and continues singing as he smokes then he goes infront of the interview camera and throws up the west side and snoop is sitting there mute and pissed 😂. I can imagine that shit😂😂 Pac was a wild dude
Classic Pac, 💯
Riskie really dropped the ball here. He should’ve been wearing a Makaveli shirt instead of that Marvel shirt. He should be selling merch that features his work

I feel like this provides even more context to Snoop & Pac’s relationship. Snoop body language and demeanor was off around Pac in a lot those last pictures and interviews with him. I love Pac, but If someone comes in and strong arms my interview to make it about them, I would be hot like tf is you doing nigga? Lol
If Snoop would've did this to Pac everyone in the comments would've said Snoop was hating.🤷🏽♂️

Tupac was always the jealous one!!
The timeline of this story a little funny but I’m rocking with it lmaoo
I thought so too
How is the timeline off and of course this was almost 30yrs ago. 😂
The Doggfather was Death Row’s first wack album
😮 True I ve always said the same thing....
Snoop did change the tracklist after pac died.
The album wasn’t that good plain and simple
Certified BFI
FACTS, I was so disappointed.
Snoop Dogg grown crip ass was scared of Tupac. Just watch the last couple of interviews with him and Tupac.
Pac similarly "took over" a Live Squad interview for The Box (music video channel). It was kind of hard to watch, cuz Pac really tried to takeover the interview, like it was his interview but it was supposed to be a Live Squad showcase.
AOD ask him about the baddies that used to come over to the studio
Man Tupac why we needed you
Poop Frogg still hating to this day
🤣🤣 he still hurt... And people still talk about pac like he still here...

I'm happy I heard this story I never heard this before
People saying Snoop was disloyal to Pac but it seems Pac was disloyal to Snoop first. But we ain't gonna talk about that,. Don't get me wrong, I love Pac but you have to call a spade a spade.
I clicked on this thinking Art had some footage of the title. Damn!
Lol now I see why Snoop hating all these years later
Not just pac was hot, he was the top selling rapper in the game at that time boss...Get it right G...
The Doggfather was a good album. Two major factors contributed to it not achieving what we all thought a Snoop album should. 1. Dre was missing. 2. Makaveli dropped a week before. With that being said, it still went double platinum.
Doggy Style shut the country down. It was bigger than Pac’s album because Snoop was an anticpated new artist
I can imagine Snoop mad as anything
😂

Love the old snoop, but that was Pacs way of letting Snoop know the Doggfather album was hot trash.😂
I always wondered why there wasn’t a single song with 2pac on Doggfather
Its crazy as big as pac was then them two was meant to be friends fact that snoop didnt get pac on there speaks alot how snoop really is a true hater
I think Pac wrote "this ain't living" for Doggfather in early 1996. Check out the lyrics on genius. Pretty clear Pac wasn't writing that for himself, but their relationship went sour after that Angie Martinez interview
@@deznado yeah thats right pac did write it for snoop it was a reference track
He was slated for 2 appearances but after he died snoop removed the tracks and replaced them with 2 other songs(Snoop Bounce and me n my doggz)

I you really examine snoop’s career musically he’s probably the most overrated rapper of all time!
He never reached out The quality of Doggy style every thing he has done after was average except tha last meal .Snoop biggest works were in the chronic ,doggy style and 2001. In some way he needs Dre to make classic hits.
I guess his work with Pharrell wasn’t hittin. Drop it like it hot , Beautiful, let’s get Blown to name a few
Drake is the most overrated artist of all time. His music is trash!!

Is this interview available somewhere? Wish I could see/hear this😅😂 #goat
I mean i was a fan pac was the shyt but i mean if you think about it DAMMN! 🤦🏿♂️
Preach... I can remember that..."Key Words...The Energy".. extend the interview... Plus pac said it his self...they be watching too many movies...it's in the rap...we can go back and listen to all the music...and find all movies... more too it
This ain’t lame to anyone?
i wonder if they have that on videotape
Exactly.
Why didn’t snoop say something 🤦🏾♂️ you can tell the difference from alpha & beta
Anybody got Footage of 2pac performing that Makaveli album he talking about????
I don't understand why a lot of the albums from that time were poorly mixed in comparison to All Eyez On Me & The Don Killuminati. Even the other albums from Deathrow including Tha Doggfather didn't sound as good.
Well, AEOM was mixed and engineered largely by DJ Quik, who was a musical mastermind. Makaveli didn’t have a lot of big name producers and engineers on it, but it was that way by design. Pac had just put out a polished double album and he was going for a grittier sound on DK7.
Yup DJ QUIK was the lead engineer for All Eyez On Me. And Dr. Dre engineered Doggystyle and The Chronic. Once QUIK and Dre was gone the sonics changed
@@AntiRevisionistHHH818yeah. Pac wanted Killuminati to be raw, and I think he succeeded in his plan. The album is excellent
Then as Dre stopped showing up as much DPG kept growing with new members around the Murder Was the Case time, (Tray Dee, Soopafly, LBC Crew)
DJ QUIK couldn't officially sign to the label due to his contract with Priority but he had been around since 94.
Then Big Jake gets killed, right as they're about to sign Pac. Suge and Pac having Diddy as a common enemy, on top of everything else just mentioned, Pac became Suges lil homie and now Suge had an artist and homie to ride for him. Pac was just getting started with Death Row.
"Quick to run ship, what a dumb move
Cross Death Row?? Now who u gone run to?"
Where is this interview?
Lol now i see why snoop fraud be low-key hating on pac...
I saw it but just didn't wanna believe that would be in snoop heart. But he human too so...
@@couptakeovershit is trash
😂😂 gangsta. Doggfather a step down from doggystyle...but over time, it's not that bad of an album on snoop's discography
Tha Doggfather was ok, the problem was he didn’t have a sound that death row was known for, that timberland remix was 🔥 tho
And you wonder why Snoop hates him... 😂
Damn if anyone has a transcript of that interview supply a link
CANAm studio in Reseda ?
What y’all think the best Snoop album is because Doggystyle ?
Snoop had it in 94 and 95 and always recreated himself but Pac work ethic was unmatched respect to them both and remember Snoop wanted Pac on death row
Clearly, Pac was so addicted to attention he'd make up shit, and disrespect snoop and others.
