Serious congratulations to TNT Sports. As a Celtic supporter that is the best 4 minutes of footballing debate I've heard on TV for decades. Sadly our regular football TV coverage from Sky and BBC Scotland is shallow discussion invariably between partisan ex Rangers players who all seem to be guaranteed a job at the BBC when they retire. To hear the TNT guys speak with authority from distance about my club rather than the usual drivel is brilliant. As to whether we are a middle class club or not - who cares, it's an opinion from someone who is worth listening to.
Definitely and the guy didn't dispute that, he even brought up Conte mentioning Celtic park in his autobiography he just raised a great point that this revamped format has benefited us massively
Yeh, to be fair to him I don’t think the boy meant anything other than the finances and the league Celtic play in. Thought it was measured and more complimentary than anything and so it should be. Hopefully the days of Celtic punching above their financial weight are back again. That’s a premier league team that Rodgers and the club are building there, the quality on the bench points to that. Exciting times for the big club
typical scottish league fan using a preseason game as legit win. Man City will absolutely crush them if they meet. SPL is not nearly as big as most celtic/rangers fans think it is
Finally some insightful and analytical discussion from pundits other than the typical Scottish roster, lots to discuss about Celtic and their management. Well said!
Club Brugge are the brand marque club in Belgium, and the Belgian league is better than the SPFL. While I agree that Celtic are the more historic and pedigreed of the two, I understand precisely what he meant and agree with him. There are the best few clubs in the top five leagues. Then, there are the very best clubs in the second tier leagues. Celtic and Club Brugge are both in that category.
Why is it? Brugge are a very big and successful club also. OK not as big as Celtic, but they are very comparable as 2 big clubs outside the top 5 leagues that are trying to compete at Champions League level.
1967, Lisbon Lions. First British team to win the trophy. Every player born and bred less than 30 miles from Celtic Park. European royalty. And finalists too in 69. Middle class to some. Trailblazers to others.
I was over there 4 times in Parkhead at Celtics ground I'm from Ireland from Wexford. Its a unbelievable place to go to on a match day athemsphore in Europe is incredible flew over 4 times from Dublin Airport. Saw them play in the Aviva stadium in Dublin last summer.
As a good Celtic fan and season ticket holder 😎😀😎😀 The new format is amazing The so called bigger teams wanted a European league they kind of got it now The new format is great 👍
The middle class comment is not about class ffs, it is reality though in european football terms, sadly. I'm a Celtic supporter, have been all my life but the reality is we haven't competed for years and are unlikely to do so given the huge wealth disparity we all loathe. We are a huge club in terms of everything except we are constrained by everything else. I just hope we get out of this CL group and give it our best. HH.
Incredible to think that they won so comfortably in the Champions League but the very next game against a domestic team one league down , they struggled, theres a lot of strange behaviour in Scottish football these days , BETTING SCAM ANYONE !!!
I understand what he's saying though, Aston Villa have a European cup but I think we'd both fall under the middle class category in 21st century European competition terms.. neither side have done much in Europe in the 21st century, of course we got to the uefa cup final in 2003 but if we were part of the European aristocracy we'd have been in way more European quarter/semi/finals. Hopefully this is the start of a great revival
Lot of focus on not winning an opening game...less focus on going to last 16 under lennon and strachen... Don't need to win opening games to give a good account of oneself...?
What a lot of these pundits fail to mention is that Celtic were the first British club to win the European Cup which is now called the Champions League and as such were ground breaking as a side and even more remarkable the players all lived within a 20 mile radius of the stadium
I get it in European terms...but sort yer life out panel...the biggest teams in Britain are liverpool man u.Celtic and rangers Globally....and btw maldini iniesta xavi Ferdinand messi are just some of the names that KNOW we have one of if not the best atmospheres in Europe.
Celtic are european champions so middle class is harsh... Celtic will be European champions again in the future... Cause celtic is run on a profit rather than a deficit...one day.... We will be well placed ❤
I'm a Celtic fan who takes no umbrage with the label "middle class". The reality is that there are hundreds of football clubs in Europe. Ten have a realistic expectation of quarterfinals or better (IE, failing to reach that point would be considered a "failure"). Another ten or so have at least a puncher's chance of going that far. Perversely, everyone else is on the outside, looking in. They are the also-rans. They are the clubs with familiar names and loyal supporter bases, but little respect amongst pundits, journalists, and the larger football-watching audience. In other words, they are the middle class.... Held in disdain by the aristocracy, yet needed in order to provide the audiences that make them rich. Got BVB away and Aston villa who are playing amazing and pretty much in that top 4 epl the now.. no easy games in the champions league even Bratislava isn't an easy game..they navigated 8 games yo be there! As a celtic fan am more worried about the so-called pish games...am more worried about dropping points yo brugge and young boys.... Those games will be more difficult to get through imo
Sorry, as much as I like Celtic, I will not pay money to swell the coffers of the directors. Celtic like money in the bank, but it's time they spent it. Then it's all excuses and tears when they get flung out of Europe!! Spend more money on the team!
I'm an Ibrox supporter living down south and people down here don't realise the size and pull of the Old Firm. We, both Celtic and Rangers (although I accept that we are struggling at the moment) are up there with the biggest in World football.
THIS IS TOTAL BULLSHIT!! CELTIC HAVE DID NOTHING IN RECENT YEARS IN EUROPE APART FROM EMBARRESS THEMSELVES. THEY WON THIS MATCH BECAUSE THEY GOT AN EXTREMELY LUCKY DRAW. TEAMS IN THE EUROPA LEAGUE HAVE MORE COMPLEX FIXTURES.

Fair play Joe Cole. Actually talking about Celtic like he knows abit about us and what we are trying to do

What joe cole said is absolutely right i think celtic may surprise a few this year the game against villa will be massive
Forget the opposition. Their build up play is impressive. Love Brendan’s style of play
Its quite probable that both teams , if not one would have already qualified by the time the Villa game comes around which is unfortunate
May mean nothing as both may be already qualified.
Great insight and analysis there from an English panel, not usually the case when it comes to Celtic.
Tbf I think it's never the case from any msm
totally refreshing to hear a good analysis and a panel who have actually done their research/know their stuff. Well done TNT
