very much what Technics have done for the last few decades on the 1200/1210s, they have always looked the same and added extra functions and nobody ever made a fuss, I think you can try and reinvent the wheel but it will always be round (do the same job) people just like a different look now and again, which is what might have been expected.. on the other hand it might be the case that working professional DJs might not like too much of a dramatic change in having a similar look/layout.

My biggest worry was that Pioneer would go the same way as the Denon and remove/transform the CDJ mode to a semi vinyl mode. It's been done in Rekordbox DJ, and is one of the reasons many of us older DJ's will never use it, and it's also the biggest reason I will never look at the Denon players. I made my decision when the CDJ-1000 came out that after using the CDJ-500/500II/500S for 7 years, the CDJ mode was a lot better and precise way to play, certainly when like me setting cue points on the fly.
I use one or another pre set hot cue and memory points, but as I rarely play the same tracks in a set and never in the same order, I always end up setting new cue points on the fly. The old school stuttering CDJ way is still the fastest and most precise way to do it. Nudging back and forth or looking at the wave form doesn't help when it's a vocal part in between beats I wanna set my cue point at, which is a pretty common way for me to mix in the next tack. Vinyl mode for me is just an effect mode I use and leave as any other effect. I really don't know why the CDJ mode is not implemented in the software, when it is a very basic function so many of us stil use and prefer.
Don't get me wrong, I still love playing vinyl now and then, but it is a legacy way to play, and certainly it is when you're not a Scratching DJ, and I'm not. So when talking about that the CD now is legacy, at least let us who entered the digital DJ'ing first, keep the basics how to digitally cue up a track and not only lean on some outdated stone age way to do it.
My NXS2's will live with me for another year before I can spend another £4-5000 on gear. Need to stick to the 5 year plan and as the NXS2's is the end of a model series and the last one with CD-players, I plan to keep them. The day I retire from the pro scene, I will have a pretty nice legacy Pioneer pro gear collection, fully working, all the way back to first CDJ-500's.

@@djkit I might do :) , but then I would have to get my hands on the very first CDJ-300 and the rare DMP-555 that came out in 2002 and could play CDS & mp3's, simultaneously from one player as it had dual outputs. Denon was not first with that implementation in a DJ player :) . It even had a built in sound card and came with DJ software, 5 years before that was introduced in the CDJ-400, and 4 years before the CDJ-1000MK3 could play mp3's.

The 3000s are just better but still lacking so many features that denon have. Pioneer just have a money making recipe where they give you just enough features to sell units while retaining features for future releases so they're never in danger of actually pioneering anymore. I hope denon start coming out with more professional looking decks so they become a contender at the rave

I have the Denon 5000c. A lot of the “new features “ that are mentioned, Denon had them 6 years ago! Can’t see how anyone could say that these are better than the Denons. Especially for the price point. I originally bought the Denons because of the price. But now, even if money was no object, I’ll still will buy Denon. Pioneer is for those DJ that get caught up with having the “industry standard “

@@djkit The software interface is vastly improved over previous generations, and includes a number of improvements over Denon's as well. I still think their hardware interface is a bit blinkered, BUT they have improved it and also leveraged all their many buttons to do a lot of advanced stuff. It feels well thought out, despite the legacy interface pieces that they had to work with. It's clear they are advancing their overall UX in a way that will be a real boon to folks who are already advanced users on the hardware, even as some of the big features that Denon touts are absent.
As a Denon fan I've definitely been watching this rollout with a bit of side eye, but this walkthrough really shows that Pioneer is playing to its own strengths while also moving forward in pretty big ways. They've given folks already invested in the CDJ ecosystem a lot of reasons to stick with it.

My question is who's gonna do the teardown and see if there's a wifi chip in there?? It makes some sense that teardowns generally haven't been a thing in media players but I think it's time now that they're putting full computer systems inside, and with all the upgradability that implies.

few new improvements, few downsides like there is no more real CDJ (no cd disc slot) or 1 knob instead of 2 as nxs2 has (touch/breake and release/start) its kind of joke that I need to go into the menus to swap it using CDJ-3000?! Pioneer WTF?! XD Personally I'd rather like to touch buttons instead of touch the screen most of the time (I mean there is no more rekordbox/usb/link/sd buttons). There is no doubt that the jog wheel is way smoother in the new CDJ but why NXS2 Jog Adjust knob been set halfway to HEAVY instead of plain LIGHT as CDJ-3000? It makes difference guys :P

Many djs are no longer requesting the 3000's. There have been some issues. touch screen and bigger screen. BIG FUCKING DEAL!!! I don't want to push a button ( Source button ) so i can see other buttons that i need to push. Why hide them?

@@djkit I'm sure there is. But how is that going to help my performance? When it comes to the actual DJing part of the machine, what can I do on the 3000 that I can't do on the 2000? There's no game changer on the 3000. There's no advantage on the 3000. It's just more buttons to push. On a 2000 I pop in the USB I hit one button I'm good to go. On a 3000 I have to hit two buttons. It's just a shiny new toy. That's it. Nothing less, and absolutely definitely nothing more.
