- We're BACK! I hope you guys enjoy my first reaction to this season of Supergirl!! Sorry its so dang long, lots to say since its the first time in MONTHS.

You ever stop and think about just how similar this show is to Wynonna Earp?
Each show is about two sisters who battle evil, one of them has special abilities.
In each show, the other sister realizes she's gay and dates a cop.
They work for a secret government agency, their superior is a black male who can change form.
Each heroine falls for a reformed bad boy.
The younger sister is bright and sunny, the older is more cynical and sarcastic.
They lost their dads due to the forces of evil they fight.
Yet Wynonna Earp just does all of it better.

Maybe it's cause I'm gay but Mon El always just came off as a jerk who was only acting nice to Kara so he could get in her pants.
James or Lena or really anyone would be a good partner for Kara but no the show had to go with the annoying frat boy as the boyfriend.
Spending the whole first season building up Kara liking James then to just have them drop it at the beginning of season 2 was lazy.

- You missed it. The first time Kara (kind of) cracks a smile is when Lena is dedicating a statue to her.
- Kara stepping in front of Lena to protect her from Morgan Edge is everything.
- Lena texting Kara that heart emoji....but they're just friends.

Hmm, let's see... The wealthy female CEO of a corporation with a complex family past, feeling intense affection to her superhero best friend, who we all thought was heterosexual at first, but...?
Yeah, at this point, I'm surprised Lena Luthor's middle name isn't Asami.
Lena was honestly the best part of this episode. She bought freaking CatCo FOR Kara, and said she can’t run it without her best friend. Every Lena scene was amazing. Knowing what’s going to happen Sanvers, I’m not going to get attached despite how much I love them. Erica Durance (Lois Lane in Smallville) as Allura was amazing even though it was just for a brief moment. I’m already intrigued by Reign too! Her and Alex had a brief spark of chemistry and I thought that was brilliant. That thing at the end I think was her own mom, so I think now she’s just realizing who she is/what she is.
I just had an epiphany , would if Reign is actually Supergirl's sister? She did have a dream about the same mother, is it coincidence? You heard it here first!

But she didn't buy catco for Kara, she bought it cause Morgan edge was gonna buy it first and use it to manipulate the news in his favour. But yeah, she did buy it with the intention that Kara would help her run it.
I feel a little bad for Erica Durance. No one seems to recognize her (Lois Lane on Smallville)
When I saw her I thought "Wait, what is Lois doing here ?? ooooh wait wrong show" I was really confused for a second xD
I recognized her from Smallville too. She was also on the show Saving Hope.
Yeah those whiny bitches complaining about this show should watch superior Smallville. Maybe then they won't be so miserable..

Kara's been cold and distant not just because she lost Mon-El, she lost her whole world when she was a child. She was raised by a lovely adopt family, the feeling of that loss was dormant at the time, but it wasn't gone. I think Mon-El's a trigger that reminded her of the loss she suffered as a child.
1) Kara being depressed and kinda mean and stuff was great but i don't wanna see it for 5 fives episodes
2) too bad that this Sanvers built up is gonna be destroyed
3) i was ok with Kara and MonEl i hope she'll move on but he'll be back so I'm scared towards the end of the season.
4) Reign is gonna be a really great character
Yah!! Kara was harsh on Alex AND James but that's cus she was depressed
This was my favourite episode of the show in a long time and honestly in terms of how Kara was represented as Supergirl, probably the best ever. She's actually competent here, she's in full command of her powers, feels like a superheroic presence and for once she actually takes initiative. I also like that they're bringing up her backstory of loss becuase if this more introspective and darker Kara was just in the aftermath of Mon el leaving it would be bogus. Lena also remains a fantastic character and one of the best things they have done is bring McGrath on as a regular. Honestly this episode was so well put together I wish it had been like this two years ago.

You know what's funny is that Kara tells Alex shes not broken..and later she tells J'onn she IS broken.

Maybe when Maggie leaves, Alex can join the Legends of Tomorrow and be Sara's girlfriend.

I only like Sara with Nyssa while not a bad idea but Alex compared to the rest of em will make her look so weak. I'm sure her and Mick would have fun conversations though! I think Mon-El is a better candidate for the legends.

cs2gambit I love Nyssa and Sara together, they are my OTP and endgame. Sara and Alex to me are just friends who slept together once because it was a stress reliever
So glad to see your back :) I am loving how Supergirl is starting . It's time to start exploring more of Kara's character and her trauma. Oh by the way are going to react to Legends as well? I would love to see your reaction on Sara's new job . This was hilarious

Something that season 3 got right was consistency. This was the first episode that actually didnt feel like its own independent episode which is something season 2 was. I also think it was good becuase kara interacted eith everyone and there was no tail she had to deal with. Yes she had her grief but i dont think it souly had to do with mayo. I think she might be starting to deal with the lose of her home.
Kara was sooooo cranky and defensive on this episode! Poor Alex and James were just trying to help her.
Flo is the reason no more Sanvers so whatever. We have Alex still and now a chance to find someone new.Love the danver sisters. But my main couple is still SUPERCORP. They have more chemistry then anyone. I still don't want mon el back. Please. And thank god for Lena. Love her. Did you see that heart emicon????.

Ps your reactions are the only thing that will make me illegally watch this season and make it through cuz I feel the exact same way about everything....
I laughed that the solution to Alex's dad not being there was to ask space dad. I loved that scene, I did, it was one of the few I enjoyed in the episode that wasn't supercorp but... perhaps the better solution would have been oh I don't know, go rescue Jeremiah?
It's funny that most reactors I've watched have been having the same responses of, hey this is pretty gay EFF them for dragging us along, which is pretty much how I feel, but then I come across reactors that avoid all spoilers and are like "i'm so excited for this wedding" and I'm like... "my sweet summer child"... I feel like I'm only watching this season because I appreciate/miss reaction videos since wynonna is on hiatus. Supergirl is like that slow trainwreck you see in the distance that you're just waiting to derail and implode and you can't do anything except be forced to watch.

SORRY IN ADVANCE FOR THE LONG-ASS COMMENT, BUT I HAVE ONE HELL OF A THEORY ABOUT REIGN IF YOU GOT THE TIME!
From what I understand, Reign is a gentically engineered "World Killer". Not much is known about her origin, so the showrunners can tweak anything they want, but what IS known from the comics is that she was created by members of the Kryptonian science Council, a council that included Kara's father, Zor-El.
One possible theory of mine has to do with the place the pod was launched from at the end of the season 2, there's a coat of arms with a skull in it instead of the 'S' - or another Kryptonian coat of arms - that we're all used to seeing, so it's definitely NOT the House of El. My theory is that the coat of arms with the skull in it belonged to some kind of Kryptonian death cult. Reign was crying when they prepped her for travel, and before they put her in the pod for launch, they fed her a drop of blood to pacify her - which is really kind of sick if you dwell on it (oh, god please don't dwell ,lol)!
Anyway, my theory revolves around stuff that was happening with the science council being at odds with the death cult, and them being cast out of regular Kryptonian society for their extreme views, which led to Reign's creation which is probably their instrument of revenge of the science council, and I'm also thinking that Kara's parents were responsible for either the death cult's imprisonment and/or ejection from Kryptonian society, and that Reign is the death cult's final act of revenge on the House of El after Krypton's explosion.
clark and Kara are sent to Earth, the death cult sends Reign to kill Clark and Kara, and whatever adopted world the last two children of Krypton call home.
BUT even if my theory's wrong, it's gona be interesting to see where this story arc actually does go, because as far as I know in the comics, Reign jsut kinda shows up with no fleshed out backstory and her and Kara start fighting (comics, I tell ya! lol).
Also, giving Reign/Samantha a daughter, a more human-looking form, and a whole past on Earth that we don't know about yet, really fleshes out her character in an unexpected way.
Either way, I'm looking forward!

I love how much Mon-El pisses you off even when he was in the episode for like 0.3 seconds I love my man.
Kara's entire native world was destroyed, and she was okay. But when her self-centered, abusive boyfriend - with whom she had a toxic relationship for about six months - goes away, it turns her world upside down. Meanwhile, the woman who is very supportive of her, and with whom she has the most chemistry, is relegated to the Friend Zone by the Voice of God. Yeah, all of that has the makings for a very dismaying season.
You are welcome to leave. I will enjoy my dismaying season.
If you like Mon-El and the direction the season is going, more power to you.

ItsAnna15 i know and build an entire season on her so called love for James, then friendzones him first episode of second season before they even date, very bad writing, they shouldn't even give Kara a love interest because the writers suck at it. i definitely see chemistry between Kara an Lena but i dont think the writers is gonna go there because they already have Alex and Maggie. So i hope this season they just focus on her an less about her dating life.

I used to love Arrow, The Flash and Supergirl. But then I committed treason. I just recently binge watched all 7 seasons of Game of Thrones, and now all other TV pales in comparison, like nothing else is even remotely fun to watch.

You can only defend the CW so much but there are a lots of great characters and storylines on this show. Katie McGrath becoming a regular cast member was amazing as was the whole Reign storyline.

Its funny how everyone has just taken it as automatic fact that alex and kara are breaking up. I mean where is the skepticism. This hasnt been confirmed at all and yet people just blindly believe.

Things will get better once the other Supergirl shows up.
Okay, don’t get me wrong, because I totally get and hate how CW treats their LGBTQ characters. But with that being said, can we be really mad at Supergirl for ending Sanvers? I mean, yes, we invested so much time into them and their relationship was one of the only things Supergirl managed to get right, last season (besides Alex’s coming out story). But, Floriana Lima wants to explore other opportunities and that will take her away from the show majority of the time. Yeah, they could continue to have Sanvers together and just mention her from time to time, instead of breaking them up. But we all know that would just piss us Sanvers fans off more, because Alex and the fans would not be getting to see a relationship that Alex deserves. So, ending Sanvers was inevitable. And although I’m pissed that they aren’t together, I respect that fact that they are giving these characters a chance to end things amicably instead of writing the season to begin with Sanvers being broken up cause Maggie turned down Alex’s proposal or something. I just think that usually CW is to blame with the way their characters are written, especially with the nonsense that happened with Clexa. But in this case, it’s obvious that the writers wanted an endgame between Maggie and Alex and Lima’s career and wanting to explore other opportunities just got in the way. I don’t think anyone is really to blame, I just think this situation just didn’t work out the way it should have or the way anyone expected. In terms of Maggie and Alex. However, in terms of Lena and Kara, there is definitely queer baiting there.

I dont think Kara miss Mon El THAT much. I think the issue its Kara had lost someone important to her AGAIN, and this time its HER decision to sent him away, not to mention she already kills his mother. Rhea maybe a bitch but she is still the only family lelf of Mon El. Yes I still agree that that boy better get the f out of my sight, i never seen anyone who can fuck up my favorite hero as fast as he does, but when it come to a situation like this, I know that I would feel so shitty about my life and kinda wanna shut down for a while.

Woah, Emily, thank God I watched your reaction instead of this episode. You shield me from the assault. They just went full on Twilight level sexist. Mon-El literally became Kara's survival instinct. That is a straight up Twilight parallel. You want to talk about taking away the autonomy of a character who is a woman. Every freaking motivation down to just not dying becomes centered on this dude. This gives me shivers of nausea. I wanted to say that since you did not compare Lena to Asami, I think that you have not seen The Legend of Korra. So please, when this show starts scorching your soul, go get that pure, beautiful, artistic, masterful show and watch it. Cause I need you to be well. We all need you to be well.
