There have always been tenants like Stevenson. We just didn’t have RUclips to see it and people who go through hours of zoom videos to find people like this. Rent insanely high in most places outside of small towns, and this is only a small reason why. Speculators, many of them foreigners, buying up property and getting big shares of the market and landlord associations all work together for that. Constructing new units is even more expensive. There is never anywhere near the amount of low income housing available. When someone gives notice they are leaving, that unit is leased before anyone has a chance to get it. I am 76 and on social security, so I know all the problems intimately. Stevenson and people like her have only a small affect on affordable housing. But even a little can be the difference between affordable and not affordable.

I don't hire people of a certain complexion and when I have rental properties, won't rent to them because the bad apples are straight rotten. Any lighter complexion is far less difficult to deal with, and less destructive.

An observation after watching 1.5 billion hours of court online: There is a direct correlation between how difficult it is for a defendant to get their face centred on screen and how delusional their case is. 😂

She's playing a game similar to squatters by avoiding rent until served with eviction, then she files bankruptcy, which stays the eviction. Once that bankruptcy is settled or dismissed (for non-action), she files again, and rinse/repeat.

I once was an inch away from a judge putting me in contempt as a victim for asking the defense attorney "can I finish my statement". The judge knew the defense's attorney I realized quickly.
okay, i think we can cut some slack because of these zoom sessions; bad connections, choppy images, sound corrupted. but this maniac, she needs 30 days. although I will say, I have noticed some flagrant behaviour in some of these court sessions. i do hope they conduct their courts properly when the court is open to the public.

If I heard correctly, she hadn't paid her rent since the 3rd quarter of 2021, so we're talking a year-and-a-half or so. $12K in rent is not implausible. From what I heard, it sounded like she was getting some form assistance to pay her rent, but she never sent it over to the property. (I think I heard CERA, which--per Google--is a state program.) If she was dumb enough to pocket the state's money and not use it as intended, she very well may not have to worry about a place to stay for a long while, as a discharged bankruptcy will NOT protect her from charges of fraud, nor from any time in jail or prison.
She's filing these bankruptcies just to hold the evictions off. She isn't completing any of the bankruptcies and she isn't taking them forward to the next step to go through with the bankruptcy.She's just filing them to hold off this eviction. I am so flabbergasted that this judge did not issue a contempt of court bench warrant for her the way she was acting.

Honestly, in the case of a legitimate bankruptcy, I could see forgiving a month or 2 of rent, but over a year of rent and repetitive filing of bankruptcy is abuse of the system. I thought there was a limit on how frequently one can file bankruptcy, but maybe I'm wrong and that's just wishful thinking lol

I could understand having a stay to where they have to hold court proceedings for a month but she should still owe rent and not be able to take her time moving. And she shouldn't be able to write that off in bankruptcy court depending on how much she owes and how long she hasn't paid. If it's only been a month or so I would just assume the owners would just like the property back and would be happy with that so they can't get income from that property again. It's sad they way she is doing them.
There isn't a bankruptcy judge in the country that will tolerate these shenanigans. Unfortunately, that's part of the federal judiciary, so we won't get the video of her inevitable smack down.
That, and BR does not involve local residency laws. She may indeed get her past rent dismissed, this does not excuse her current status or rent that will be incurred the day after BR filing. It may start a limited new time period in with the local magistrate, but your BR itself has nothing to do with the eviction process, just makes it impossible to find anyone willing to rent to you in the future. lol
This isn't true at all. The only violating conduct I see in this video is from the judge and the creditor. I'm a bankruptcy attorney, and I would sue this creditor immediately based on this video and I would win. The creditor would be fined and Ms. Stevenson would get that fine. The burden to comply with the automatic stay is on the creditor. The moment Ms. Stevenson said a valid case number, the creditor was obligated to ask for the case to be dismissed without prejudice. This post got loved by the channel, but it's flatly incorrect. There will be no federal "smackdown" because there's been no bad behavior, at least bankruptcy-wise. I see the exact opposite of what everyone else sees. 50% of the channels typed comments in the video were legally incorrect. Even the thumbnail... "I don't have to explain myself" That's correct. Legally she doesn't have to explain herself, and the judge asking her questions violates the automatic stay. The fact that this hearing exists is a violation of the law. That's the outrage here.

The bk attorney and/or Ms. Stevenson should have notified the landlord in advance to avoid that. But once the deed was done, I agree the attorney should have been checking PACER or having their staff check it during the hearing.
Having 0 respect for a judge who is trying to serve the public while being fair to both sides is a bit much. It isn't an easy job, and losing your cool back isn't always the answer. All that would do is legally postpone this nightmare for the landlord.

If I heard correctly, she hadn't paid her rent since the 3rd quarter of 2021, so we're talking a year-and-a-half or so. $12K in rent is not implausible.
From what I heard, it sounded like she was getting some form assistance to pay her rent, but she never sent it over to the property. (I think I heard CERA, which--per Google--is a state program.) If she was dumb enough to pocket the state's money and not use it as intended, she very well may not have to worry about a place to stay for a long while, as a discharged bankruptcy will NOT protect her from charges of fraud, nor from any time in jail or prison.

Honestly, in the case of a legitimate bankruptcy, I could see forgiving a month or 2 of rent, but over a year of rent and repetitive filing of bankruptcy is abuse of the system. I thought there was a limit on how frequently one can file bankruptcy, but maybe I'm wrong and that's just wishful thinking lol

I could understand having a stay to where they have to hold court proceedings for a month but she should still owe rent and not be able to take her time moving. And she shouldn't be able to write that off in bankruptcy court depending on how much she owes and how long she hasn't paid. If it's only been a month or so I would just assume the owners would just like the property back and would be happy with that so they can't get income from that property again. It's sad they way she is doing them.

There isn't a bankruptcy judge in the country that will tolerate these shenanigans. Unfortunately, that's part of the federal judiciary, so we won't get the video of her inevitable smack down.
That, and BR does not involve local residency laws. She may indeed get her past rent dismissed, this does not excuse her current status or rent that will be incurred the day after BR filing. It may start a limited new time period in with the local magistrate, but your BR itself has nothing to do with the eviction process, just makes it impossible to find anyone willing to rent to you in the future. lol
This isn't true at all. The only violating conduct I see in this video is from the judge and the creditor. I'm a bankruptcy attorney, and I would sue this creditor immediately based on this video and I would win. The creditor would be fined and Ms. Stevenson would get that fine. The burden to comply with the automatic stay is on the creditor. The moment Ms. Stevenson said a valid case number, the creditor was obligated to ask for the case to be dismissed without prejudice.
This post got loved by the channel, but it's flatly incorrect. There will be no federal "smackdown" because there's been no bad behavior, at least bankruptcy-wise. I see the exact opposite of what everyone else sees. 50% of the channels typed comments in the video were legally incorrect. Even the thumbnail... "I don't have to explain myself" That's correct. Legally she doesn't have to explain herself, and the judge asking her questions violates the automatic stay. The fact that this hearing exists is a violation of the law. That's the outrage here.

The bk attorney and/or Ms. Stevenson should have notified the landlord in advance to avoid that. But once the deed was done, I agree the attorney should have been checking PACER or having their staff check it during the hearing.

Also, a court that won’t evict someone. In my state only need 7 day notice and it’s irregardless of any actions.
