I’ve always been a massive fan of Nintendo. So seeing the Nintendo world made into a theme park is just unbelievable for me. Thanks for the great vlog ❤️
Hey great video guys! Glad you both enjoyed your Japan trip! At 4:19 in the video sorry, just to clarify the amazing adventures of spider-man ride actually closed the beginning of 2024 in January! I was actually there the week it was closing, I was so lucky to get to go to Japan it was so busy and they were also selling exclusive final merch from the ride! Unfortunately, they removed the ride due to Disney owning the rights to Marvel! The Florida ride however is a different situation so it won’t be removed. Disney in Tokyo is now slowly adding Marvel to their parks!
Shawn, the commitment and dedication you have is nothing short of astounding! I think if it’s not included on your current Japan itinerary, it would be so cool to visit Toei Kyoto Studio Park one day! It’s a popular studio park owned and operated by Toei, the company behind tokusatsu classics such as Super Sentai, which is well known for being the source material for Power Rangers, and Kamen Rider.
Glad you got to make it to Osaka. I've been to that park 3 times. 2013, 2019 and 2023. Sad Spiderman closed. That 4D show was in the old T2-3D building.
Good & nice vlog, yeah agreed, just looking at site areas on that side where rides & attractions lack. Could do with maybe keeping the two street areas for Hollywood for entertainment, shops etc? But demolishing rest of it to make way for new additions, maybe thats the area that will have some new rides & attractions added to it? Defo needs something? A new big top coaster maybe? More family coasters? Shame Jaws wasn't open, aswell Jurassic World / Park boat ride, would of been good to see those on this vlog aswell last. Yeah not a fan of sight lines either, could do a better job with hiding those on Westworld show auditorium, aswell other lands around park? Maybe taller trees, planting & buildings etc? Especially when hiding that tall and high bridge in Jurassic Park land, its like Dr Who or someone has zapped a bridge back in time lol. But yeah nice vlog, enjoyed, could do better with attractions here aswell a new few coaster additions, also by the way taking the mic with charging people to re-enter parks, Disneyland Resort Paris don't do that, infact you can over stay go in and out as many times you like, at least when I went in 2017. But nope, desperately need improvements at this resort, 100%. Cheers again. 😀👍
Detective Conan is known as case closed in the west. It’s just a detective animated series. It’s been around since the 80s but rebooted a few times. It’s ok just it tries to do Sherlock Holmes when it’s not.
The no re entry is just ridiculous I would think all would prefer to go and rest during the peak heat of the day this is what we did when we went to Orlando and then go back later strange x loving your vlogs x
1:05 the Shark and Dinosaur people seem to be merchandise for The Dragon Pearl restaurant in Universal, though they fit more with Jurassic Park and Jaws imo. These things seem to only be known as "Dinosaur/Shark Man" though it did make me think of the Jaws hat you had on in the Day One vlog so maybe this is a thing in Japan...who knows.
Omg I love you guys, in your next video can you pls do a shout out! You and Charlotte are such a funny and cute couple. Charlotte exceeds my expectations with water rides!😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Totally agree about the lack of rides. I will say one thing. This is the best universal for little kids. I have a 3 and 6 year old and they loved that family area, minions and Harry Potter. We spent hours in the Sesame Street indoor play area. Compared to Hollywood this is a win for the little ones.
The thing I'm missing most about Universal are the velociraptor characters in Jurassic Park/World. They may have been designed to be mostly scary at the parks, but they really open their softer side when you show you're not afraid of them. I remember seeing a video at Universal Japan where one of the velociraptors acted really sassy to a guest, opening her mouth as if she was about to bite a few times, then she snuggled up to the guest. Here's hoping they'll have a Jurassic Park/World at Universal Great Britain.
The Beetlejuice rock show used to be at Universal Studios in Florida and California call Beetlejuice graveyard review in the spinning roller coaster I heard is always theme to to a different anime every year and the snoopy studio was big indoor area. What a roller coaster so I don’t know why it’s closed.
Space Fantasy hasn't been closed for a year, we went on it a few weeks ago, it just gets rethemed to various animes, it was Demon Slayer when we went on it and it was the most popular ride in the park. I guess that theme has just ended and they're preparing whatever is next for the Halloween season.
What an odd park lol !!! The Monster Show is what they used to have in Orlando and it was where Hogwarts Express station is now !! Obviously it was better there as the actor who played Beetlejuice was amazing
The Space Fantasy coaster (the indoor spinning ride) is usually the host to their Cool Japan theming, which they do 6 months out of the year. They usually convert that coaster to a VR of a popular Japanese anime. Until recently it was hosting Demon Slayer, and they're about to reopen with a more recent season of Demon Slayer in July. It has done many other themes such as Attack on Titan, Doraemon, and the ring (which was my personal favourite). I think it was only closed throughout the month of June so it must have just been bad timing. The same with Detective Conan, I believe its closing again at the end of this month. As much as I would like the attractions to stay as a staple throughout the year, especially Space Fantasy as its my favourite, I understand the huge popularity these limited time attractions achieve, and I guess it is something unique to Japan.
One of my biggest pet peeves is when theme parks play music with vocals outdoors. I kind of expected better from Universal. Also, it’s absolutely insane that they refuse re-entry. Maybe the employee misunderstood you somehow
Great video as always guys! I'm visiting in September and you've made me very nervous about Flying Dinosaur now! Do you have any update on Donkey Kong and if it will be open by then? Btw looks like Space Fantasy (the spinning coaster) is closed for VR re-theming and re-opens in July.
Really great vlog and appreciate your honesty and balanced view on the park because it is fun in places but there are many missed opportunities from Universal. I got a chance to visit the park last November and rode Jaws, Jurassic park and Spiderman and they were all fantastic. Also not sure if I missed it in the vlog but the Detective Conan ride is where T2 Battle Across Time was, a real shame they removed that, back in November they still had all the signage and you could see the Robots inside. Totally agree about that section of the park, was bare even back in November when they had Spiderman there. Also agree on the Super Nintendo part, was very disappointing and really driven towards kids and you don't need those wrist bands. I found the staff taking photos to be very rude if you didn't buy a photo which is something to note but staff were generally very friendly and smiley around the park. Definitely need 2 days for this park, can't be done in a day and you were lucky on the queues, when I was there the queuing times at 70 minutes were accurate. When you guys come to Shanghai guys hit me up, I am a Brit living here and know Disneyland well. Really love the content, big fan guys! Get out there and keep on riding!
The reason you don’t see cupcakes and pastries everywhere is because Japan tends not to have the culture of eating on the fly. They always make time to sit down and actually eat a proper meal. Eating while walking is seen as not proper and a massive mistake. Cupcakes do exist in Japan just they like different flavors that aren’t really western. Usually its flavors like chestnut or matcha, very subtle flavors yet last a while.
There’s plenty of other convenience food in Japan that can be eaten on the go, so I don’t think it’s anything to do with that. It’s simply a cultural preference to have other types of sweets/snacks.
@@ObsessiveGeekthey tend to buy convince store food to take work or sit down and eat tho! Rion ishida channel often shows him buying onigiri but taking it to a park to sit and eat it! They don’t eat whilst walking around
Im so happy to see you both come to my local park! We always enjoy your vlogs, but my 3 year old loved seeing you go to her favourite place. In the 8 years I have been living in Japan, the park has changed so much. There has been a big push on slowly fading out the more traditional, Universal Hollywood related attractions and filling it with ips. There is a lot of anime related attractions. A few week s ago there were more temporary attractions going on, but as they are getting ready for the summer season some of them are in their transition stage. Space fantasy the ride barely runs its original attraction anymore, and it usually running as a 4d coaster related to an anime. It just finished one anime overlay and is now getting ready for the next one! USJ is often filled with fans dressed up for those anime and coming for those temporary attractions and limited food and goods. Also people are fans of specific shows so will come just to support their favourite performers in the shows. However, It is so sad to see so many empty buildings, and I was gutted to lose spiderman at the start of the year. I am interested to see what they do with the park in the upcoming years though. Thank you for coming to Japan!
Hi SHawn, can I ask is this park the same size as what the UK Universal will be? And what rides do you want to see here? Will you be covering more of the Universal UK when you are finally back to the UK ?
This is why I prefer Acrobat over The Flying Dinosaur. Acrobat is so graceful and pleasant and is often a jump on with no line at all. The Flying Dinosaur is large and impressive but also clunky and headache inducing. I think people overlook Acrobat because it's a clone and because it's in the same park as Hakugei and Steel Dragon 2000.
Space Fantasy seems to have a very regular rotation of temporary VR overlays, particularly when Universal are running their 'Cool Japan' promos in the summer. Hence the reason for the covered signs etc. When I visited in 2018, it was Final Fantasy for a few months, then Neon Genesis Evangelion straight after that. There seems to be a couple of different things every year though, and I'm not sure how often the ride is run in it's pure form now :(
The former et ride is actually the only one that changes every time an anime partnership happens. It did one piece, demon slayer, even gintama. It’s probably changing its theme again.
It's amazing just how much of going around Super Nintendo World is treated like playing an actual game. If you're there for long enough to make the most out of using the wristband, they allow you to fully experience every little nook and cranny of the area. It will track your scores on the MarioKart ride and whether you find any of its very well-hidden secrets, you can gather coins throughout the day from the ? blocks and work your way up a daily leaderboard, and get stamps for achieving mini tasks within the area and even visiting at different times of the year. People are genuinely out here trying to 'complete' Super Nintendo World which is fascinating to see. And I agree wholeheartedly that it is a simply wonderfully themed area. Going around Nintendo World & all of USJ on the regular as a single guest and utilising the single rider queues where possible is a great way to kill a day. I'm aiming to check out the new Donkey Kong Country area as soon as I am able to and can't wait!
I’ll also add, my husband is 6 ft 2 and was told he was too tall for the flight of the hippogriff and a few other kids attractions which made it hard for us.
Snoopy studios might have been the old Nickelodeon studios of Japan. I see the familiar structure there. Orlando changed to blue man group but it now sits empty although most of the old nick stuff is still inside. I believe an editing company uses it now for storage. I don’t mean like empty in stuff by the way, I mean empty as in people as nobody ever goes in there that I know. Nick had a presence in Japan mostly as a dubbing company that changed over voice audio to Japanese. They changed nothing else.
Apparently the Tempozan-Ohashi bridge you can see opened in 1990 and Universal Studios opened in 2001. It looks like a nice park, it’s a shame there is a couple of major attractions closed: Jaws, The Jurassic Park river adventure and Space Fantasy. Looks like you had a great time nonetheless 👍🏻 I rode Jaws a few times in Orlando, it was a great ride.
I was lucky enough to be here during Halloween Horror Nights in 2023, 'Space Fantasy - The Ride' had an overlay themed to The Grudge, named Sadako’s Curse: Dark Horror Ride. Surprised it hasn't opened since as it was fantastic
tbh, there were a lot of rides and shows in the first 15 mins of the vids but sadly mostly either gone or doing anime collab. I think universal studio japan needs to think up of new permanent shows for those buildings. what I remember about those buildings: - 4d cinema is showing boku no hero no academia (my hero academia), very popular anime show in the past 10 years. they usually rotate on what anime that will do the show, last few times I visited japan I think they showed evangelion and dragon quest. - the space fantasy also got a lot of anime collab, I went there last year and I rode the coaster with doraemon as the theme - that detective conan show is actually Terminator 2 show. detective conan is a wildly popular anime show that is already 30 years old - rip spiderman, I watched it last year and it was still as good as I remember - btw, there was also a show there called backdraft fire show which is closed in 2020. I watched it in 2017, and in 2018 I went there during halloween and they put zombie overlay as one of their halloween horror night houses. - I remember next to spiderman, they also use it for events, such as halloween event or anime event (last year is spyxfamily)
@ThemeParkWorldwide Maybe the celebration itself as Christianity represents about 1% of the population in Japan, so I guess the majority see those things as far more of a novelty. Could be just that nothing else was planned to fill that area and as you mentioned the resort is really minimal around the "New York" section so they possibly need things like that to fill it out a bit more.

I’ll also add, my husband is 6 ft 2 and was told he was too tall for the flight of the hippogriff and a few other kids attractions which made it hard for us.
Sorry to hear that
Snoopy studios might have been the old Nickelodeon studios of Japan.
Possibly so, the family area was nice!
Apparently the Tempozan-Ohashi bridge you can see opened in 1990 and Universal Studios opened in 2001.
It looks like a nice park, it’s a shame there is a couple of major attractions closed: Jaws, The Jurassic Park river adventure and Space Fantasy.
Looks like you had a great time nonetheless 👍🏻
I rode Jaws a few times in Orlando, it was a great ride.
We still had a great time and enjoyed seeing the different things!
Which Universal Studios in Asia do you think is the best? Universal Studios Singapore, Universal Studios Japan or Universal Studios Beijing?
Beijing!
Quirky food trucks 10:13
When are you hoping to get to epic universe? You mentioned it a few times
Opening day hopefully!
I genuinely can’t believe uve never done jaws! It was so good and scary
Never sadly! Hopefully one day!
AWESOME LOOKING PARK!!!
How did I not know about the hello kitty area...😅😅😅
It’s such a cute little area!
I was lucky enough to be here during Halloween Horror Nights in 2023, 'Space Fantasy - The Ride' had an overlay themed to The Grudge, named Sadako’s Curse: Dark Horror Ride. Surprised it hasn't opened since as it was fantastic
That sounds great!
What was your best in day two vlog
Hollywood Dream The Ride is definitely our highlight of this park!
We all ❤ toad here too 🍄
Super vlog 👍🏻
Love toad so much!
For Space Fantasy they’re currently doing a Demon Slayer XR overlay of it
tbh, there were a lot of rides and shows in the first 15 mins of the vids but sadly mostly either gone or doing anime collab. I think universal studio japan needs to think up of new permanent shows for those buildings.
what I remember about those buildings:
- 4d cinema is showing boku no hero no academia (my hero academia), very popular anime show in the past 10 years. they usually rotate on what anime that will do the show, last few times I visited japan I think they showed evangelion and dragon quest.
- the space fantasy also got a lot of anime collab, I went there last year and I rode the coaster with doraemon as the theme
- that detective conan show is actually Terminator 2 show. detective conan is a wildly popular anime show that is already 30 years old
- rip spiderman, I watched it last year and it was still as good as I remember
- btw, there was also a show there called backdraft fire show which is closed in 2020. I watched it in 2017, and in 2018 I went there during halloween and they put zombie overlay as one of their halloween horror night houses.
- I remember next to spiderman, they also use it for events, such as halloween event or anime event (last year is spyxfamily)
Thanks for sharing. Hopefully there’s many new additions to come to this park!
Hollywood Dream: The Ride
Brilliant mini hyper!
I find Manta the most intense ride in Florida by a landslide. Would you say the flyer ride is even more intense than Manta?
It’s way more intense than Manta!
That was a great impression of Woody Woodpecker.
Does it meen your holiday is over time to go home
We’re back in the UK now, however there’s another week left of vlogs from this trip!
Just to clarify when Shawn says IP what does he mean?
Intellectual property...in other words, the branding rights to use a character or theme or movie. Harry Potter or Superman are good examples.
@@deebringle5772 thank you
@@saintnicholas5507😊
As mentioned, it’s intellectual properties such as Nintendo or Harry Potter!
I know it’s another expense, but I’m surprised y’all didn’t spring for power-up bands.
It’s not really our soft of thing, however can understand why many people would like them!
Awesome 😎
Shawn, I’ve just seen your at Alton towers! Are you still going this Saturday?
We won’t be on Saturday!
The road in the skyline of the park is newer, it was not there when the park was built. Unfortunate for sure!
Thanks for sharing!
Really strange with the Easter celebration, not sure why as it’s March/April in Japan, I would have been tempted to try asking someone about it.
It was very strange! Possibly just extended due to popularity maybe!
No re entry policy yikes 😂 there would be a riot in Orlando if you had to pay 💰 to come back in.
I was really surprised about that
