Big bundle of joy arriving this June!

You may have heard that Asian elephant Phoebe is pregnant! As with any animal pregnancy, there can be risks. Phoebe’s Animal Care and Animal Health teams are monitoring her closely and have taken every precaution to provide Phoebe with the highest quality care. An Asian elephant pregnancy is 22 months in the making, but this story started way before that. There have been less than 10 successful artificial inseminations in Asian elephants in facilities accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA).
