- Some debuts are so assured and so distinctive that you just have to know more about what went into their creation. Kaliane Bradley’s The Ministry of Time is one such debut. We sat down with her to discover how the book was originally meant to be something else entirely, the inspirations behind its brilliant plot, and how she managed to balance comedy and trauma in such an entertaining read.

One of my favorite books. I am so grateful to see this interview and touch on some of my favorite parts and have some of my questions confirmed. Kaliane, I can’t wait to read more from you. I can absolutely see you being a wonderful screenplay writer and director as well.
This is a fantastic book. What an intelligent, clever, funny and engaging woman. Cant wait to read more of her work.
Kalianne destroys my image of an author as an introvert. Her persona and writing are equally exuberant.
This sounds fantastic can't wait to read it .
An excellent book I read in a single sitting. If you’re reading this: buy the book.
I wonder if at any point in this interview she mentions the Spaniard TV series from 2015-2020 that is called exactly "The Ministry of Time" too and which is pretty much exactly what she describes as the central ideas of her book...
if you actually read the book you will see that the two are nothing alike
i wish people would stop making this comparison because they're very different.
Loved this - and nice to see it on Obama's summer reading list.
