"Surprisingly, I feel cozy. It's like a wooden cabin in the midst of a blizzard. I have shelter." I didn't realize I was here for beautiful literature.
as someone with 282 ponziani games on lichess and a 66% winrate as white, and only 40% against this, i can confirm this is a nightmare to play against.
That’s insane, when engine says 0.00 it generally doesn’t understand the position, so you can play 5 best moves according to the computer and suprisingly engine will say black is winning
It doesn't mean "it doesn't understand the position", it thinks blacks has Full compensation or found a forced perpetual check line, engines are not programmed to give "i don't understand it" analysis, especially SF, a "brute force calculator" engine. Only thing is that in those positions there are many crazy moves that could be discarded by the algorithm and it was eventually a very good move with deep analysis.
it understands the position more than any of us could ever dream of doing, and it sees a prepetual check in a line and whoever tries to avoid the prepetual would be worse so the prepetual is considerd best play by both sides. occationaly it could allso mean a trade down to a tablebase drawn position if it has tabelbases enabled.
@@thec7889 I wouldnt say it understands the position. Engine just evaluates it by looking at specific lines and thats why it says +2 or -3. This is why engines were so bad at openings for such a long time. Now they are pretty good but mainly because they have book lines programmed into them and we can run them with enormous depth
@@Cephalon_Nodens humans dont realy understand positions eigther, we calculate, and we try to applie past experiences to the current position, but chess is so complex its practically impossible to understand any opening or midgame position

cxd4 Rab8 Qxb8 Rxb8 Kxf2 and 3 pieces and rook for the queen is enough, White seems already winning in this position. Qc2+ Nd2 may hold, Qd3+ Kxf2 too and any other move looks too slow to me. Still the best practical try
At 2:42, can you sac your queen for the bishop and knight? It’s four pieces for a queen and two pawns? Or is the fact that your king is exposed a problem?
because I think white can respond with queen d5, you lose a rook, take the bishop, then the knight is stuck in that corner for basically the rest of the game

Fantastic. Seemed like pretty powerful ponziani counterattack ...Eric givess a course in patience and tenacity

Could you suggest some strong lines after c3?
i love it when I'm black because I know a lot of theory for this line and so my fellow ponziani players get smacked around sometimes haha.

@@cooldogkidz1 I’ve never lost to this line as white
It’s too easy

what move?

7:51 black very quickly played Qd3+, but Bxd4 looks really strong if you take with knight going down the same line with Qd3+ Kxf2 Qxe3# is now mate.

Hello, Mr. Rosen.
Merry Christmas!
Why didn’t black play Nxf2 instead of Bxf2+? 0:37
At 2:42, can you sac your queen for the bishop and knight? It’s four pieces for a queen and two pawns? Or is the fact that your king is exposed a problem?
No there is Qxb6 If Be3 Qxb2
You can't sacrifice at that point, but I'm pretty sure 4 pieces would've survived a queen.
@@thatcringelord I always miss horizontal queen moves

Heh. Bongziani.
More Ponzianiii 🔥🔥🔥

How do you remain so calm which such little time left on the clock

Wow. The vukovic gambit is really nice but white is always on an edge to play carefully
While a don't think the Ponziani is any good for white, I appreciate the effort to explain some lines here.

because I think white can respond with queen d5, you lose a rook, take the bishop, then the knight is stuck in that corner for basically the rest of the game
oh and then fianchetto the bishop and the knight is completely trapped

why doesn't black play Nxf2 on move 6 instead of Bxf2? Take the rook
