And I can assure you, prison food is not particularly tasty.
But compared to what I see here,
I see the difference where people are given the right to healthy food even in German prisons.
And the situation in China will only change for the better when the Chinese people drive the entire KPHC out of their offices.
Lock them in prisons and serve this industrial food to exactly those they serve.

If China is a human, more than 90% of its body are ridden with cancer. it is so bad that the cancers cannot be removed without killing the person. some tumors cannot be removed at all.
In China everyone NEED to be corrupt to put food on the table at all levels of society. Cheating and scamming your fellow man is considered OK and common as long as one is bring food on the table for the family.
China is not going to break out from their cycle of unending despair until they change the way they think. Need to replace their hearts with common humane values, instead of CCP propaganda. Replacing Xi or the CCP would not suffice. They will just create another crueler regime that learnt its mistake in losing power as that mentality that gave birth to tyrant kings and govts like the CCP is the cornerstone of mainland thinking too, besides face.

China's corruption is hard for most Westerners to even imagine accurately... This stor reminds me of WWII, during which China fed their soldiers, men who were fighting the enemy, 'dim sum' which was supposed to be filled with meat and vegetables. The goverment official in charge of this filled them with rocks instead, so they met the weight standards while the officials lined their pockets with the money that was supposed to feed the troops. Eventually the Army rannout of money and the men were kn their own, but it startednwith gragt.
There was a * reason * Mao was able to take over, the old regims was corrupt. But then Mao, of course, brought the nation to new levels of corruption.

It seems to me that the problem here is not "pre-made" food as such. Here in the US, restaurants and institutional kitchens buy prepared ingredients that are shelf- or freezer-stable all the time to keep costs down. Even when parents make home lunches for their kids, they often use cold cuts and other foods bought from the market that contain salt and other preservatives. The problem in China is lack of quality control and willingness to serve food that has gone bad, which is caused by the manufacturers and distributors not giving a rat's head. That's what's causing lots of kids to get sick - lack of ethics and morality among people in charge - not the fact that the food is factory-made.
